On a certain day: theunfetteredpreacher

Luke 5:17 (KJV)

And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.”

On a certain day. What day? Today is the day.

Jesus taught everywhere He went.

If you read the Gospels, multitudes sought Him out, those who believed and were seeking a healing touch. As well as those who were religious.

Those who were sure they understood how, where and when God would show Himself.

These doubted Jesus was THE ONE.

We seem to have forgotten why the Lord used signs, wonders, and miracles.

Do you wonder why we don’t see these things today?

The last line of Mark 6, reads, “As many as touched Him, were healed.”

We have asked Him into our hearts, accepted His Forgiveness and put Him on the shelf.

We take Him out Sunday mornings, and if we are really religious, Wednesday evenings.

We don’t seem to need Him other days. As a result, He has become Powerless in our lives.

“The power of the Lord was (is) present to heal them.”

Jesus said, many times: “ONLY BELIEVE”

As young children, most of us believed, we were safe while our parents provided our needs and wants.

As adults, we believe we are the providers.

We work long hours, extra jobs, just to have a little extra money, over what we need to pay the bills.

Arthritis hit, not able to work extra jobs, some days not able to do my regular job. (Tuning and playing pianos)

I am not earning what I was accustomed to. Yet, miraculously, the bills are paid, there is money for the little things.

“THE POWER OF THE LORD IS PRESENT”

Not just to heal, but to supply our needs, provide comfort, peace and joy.

On a certain day.

The day we trust, obey, and BELIEVE.

My God is able to do exceedingly above all I can ask think or imagine. For me and mine, as well as for you and yours.

ONLY BELIEVE

My heart’s desire and prayer: theunfetteredpreacher

My heart’s desire and prayer, that they might be saved.

Paul’s, words, speaking of the Israelites in Romans 10.

It was my prayer for my family.

They have all passed on now, I trust I will see them, in time.

I wonder, what is my hearts desire, my prayer, today?   Does it compare to Pauls?   Is it a prayer the Lord longs to answer?

Unfortunately NO.

I write, because I am a frustrated preacher.  I teach the Word, but long for more.  (Lord, forgive me).    Lord, help me to be content, with where  I am, (physically), and draw me closer, (spiritually).

After Bible School, licensed, then ordained, and sent forth.  I was on fire.  People who had no interest in Jesus, would flee at the mere mention of my arrival.  (No Joke)

My desire, to see people healed, set free, for people to be saved.

I spent a time in Canada, with a new friend and Pastor, John Benschop.  He was gracious, I was full of pride, (I, was destined for greatness)… lol…

Yet I was sure, that everyone who knew the Lord knew more than I.   I burned myself out, by not continuing to dig in the Word.  I thought what little I understood, was all there was.  (A real contradiction).

It took time, and another failure, as a Pastor, for the fire to be snuffed out.

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

I gave place to the devil.   I did not fall into sin, … I continued to love the Lord and pray. … I  just could not seem to draw close.

Daily, my prayers would hit the ceiling and bounce back… My plea, wasn’t heard.  I’d lift my Bible and cry out for relief.

THERE WAS NO RELIEF.

The real problem was… (silence please) …. I needed to open that Bible.

I wanted the Lord to do it all.  Change me, empower me, annoint me.  Not realizing, I needed to find the way to be transformed.  I needed more of His Word within.

If we continue to read and study, His Word, we find we pray less for our needs or wants.  As we draw closer to God, by seeking first His Kingdom and Righteousness, He supplies all our needs.

He gives us the desires of our hearts.”

How do we seek His Kingdom, His Righteousness?   By knowing and praying His will.

Praying that our eyes, ears, hearts and mind, would be open to the Lords prompting, to hearing, His voice.

We hear His voice, in reading His Word.

We must study, as well as fast and pray….  We need to desire to be made into His likeness.

To become like Him.

I still desire to live and walk in His will, under His guidance and direction, seeing the Work of His Might and Power displayed.

For too long, I was disappointed with God.  When the real disappointment was me.

Lord, help.   Amen

Flare up:  theunfetteredpreacher

I ask for prayers.  Feet and ankles no pain, (hardly, a big blessing), on the other hand,  wrist and hand…   Quite painful…

Don’t know how well Service will go… playing one handed…  (I can do all things, through Christ Jesus, who strengths me.)… Amen

Please pray for relief…  pain pills are not touching this.

Thanks…

Blessings

Somethings must be given up: The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

When Moses decided to see what was going on with the burning bush, He received a direct order from God.

Exodus 3:4-6
King James Version (KJV)
And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

That they may see, and know

There is a reason the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart and did many signs, wonders and miracles.

There was a reason Jesus did so many signs, wonders snd miracles.  It is the same reason He said we would do the same and more.

“This is your last Christmas “.

IT WASN’T. It is funny how you can be sure you have heard His voice, and have misunderstood, miss heard, don’t understand the time frame. Well I am not sure which I did, but I have lived through an other Christmas.

If you are Interested, this is the post that was supposed to follow my departure.

If you are reading this, that was a word from the Lord. As I write, It is now April of 2015, I feel alot better than I  did in December.  But I  woke up this morning  with the thought to get my house in order.

Today I tune a couple of pianos for Gail Ebron.  What a treasure she and Gene have been.  God fearing customers since I started in business, along with the Tunnels probably my most steady customers for 20 years.  Thank you.

I  do have a very small life insurance policy,  but I am afraid my trust is in God to take care of Bette and Celeste. I am sure He will do a better job without the help I’ve given Him the last 30 years.

My 2 girls have been my biggest blessing,  they have given me love and joy that I  have not deserved.  I am so proud of them both.  It is just God, that I ended up with such a wonderful family.

I failed  to be the miracle working man of God I desired to be.  I tried to Submit to God and Resist the Devil.  I wanted to be a useful vessel.  A man God could trust, rely on, depend on, to walk with Jesus.

Some days I almost am.  Others I am out in the puker brush doing my own thing.  God forgive me.  I ‘m not anything but a sinner saved by His Grace.

Work wise I have a few pianos I wish I had never seen.  Work that I failed, never should have attempted.   I gave every job my best, on some my lack of knowledge, experience led me down the garden path.  Thank God I  gained the knowledge and experience to see fewer of these each year.

Other than family, this blog has given me a reason to go on.  It has been a blessing to share whatever insights I’ve received from the Lord. I  pray it has caused some to get a little closer to our Saviour.

I may add more to this as time goes by.

12/16/15
Get your house in order….I have failed at that also. Will I die before Christmas? Some days I think so. Others I feel fine, till I don’t.

I need to finish getting the piano parts ready for Bette to sell, same with the train things. There is so much stuff I should throw away, before I go away.

More importantly, Celeste graduated from UNCW, with a gold cord…so proud, Lord, please bless her with work she enjoys and is financially satisfying.

Taylor is a good kid, bless them both please Lord. If they marry, may he be a better husband, father and provider then I have been.

I worry about Bette, lots of low sugars lately…Lord, please guide and protect her….Thank You for her, she is a blessing.

Lord, thank you for this blog and the people who have read, followed and liked my writing. I pray You have been Glorified as I have been satisfied. I do hope You have used it to touch hearts.

I look at this, (the blog), as all I have to leave my girls, and they don’t even read it. I had hoped a book would be the result of some posts…..lol.

Jesus, thanks for allowing me to teach your Word at FMUMC. I pray they walk closer to You because of what they have learned.

The choir has been a blessing also. Thanks.

Bless our extended families. I trust You will take care of my girls. I love You.
Blessings

ps
I am obviously alive, it doesn’t change my feelings of failure, regret, and satisfaction. Our lives don’t run in a straight line, we weave and bob, zig and zag.

We do our best to be the people we dream to be. Faithful, loving, selfless, forgiving, helpful, joyful, peaceful, Christ like.

Well, there’s always next year.

Blessings to all. May the Lord, help us to see Him as we look at our reflections in the eyes of others. Change our hearts O Lord. . . .

2 Peter 1:10-16 Study -The Fix-it Shop – Filling Station

This verse is an encouragement to do the former and a promise of results.

2 Peter: 1. 10.
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Be diligent, give serious and thoughtful attention to, read, study, meditate.  Know your calling and election.  Know who you are and what you are supposed to be doing.

“The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. “

We have been called to serve, so do it.  If we do “we shall never fail.”   To please and grow in the image of our Lord.

2 Peter 1:11-14
“For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.  Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;  Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.”

We received our ticket to heaven when we accepted Jesus as Lord.  The gates of heaven will be opened wide, I am pretty sure there will be a cloud of witnesses to our triumphant entrance.

Peter wants to remind us….to keep on, don’t give up, we will bare fruit at the time appointed.  He would have us established,  faithful, strong, ready to answer those in need.  Work men, not ashamed, working.

Knowing his time is short, Jesus had prophesied his death and he was ready.

2 Peter: 1. 15,16
Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.  For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.”

He wants us to continue in his absence, he hasn’t made this up, he knew Jesus and faithfully gave us His Word and Will.

2 Peter: 1:10-16
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.”

Lord, help us to endeavour to grow in your likeness, to walk in Your path, to bring others into Your flock.

Ecstasy : The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

(Gr. ekstasis, from which the word “ecstasy” is derived) denotes the state of one who is “out of himself.” Such were the trances of Peter and Paul, Acts 10:10; 11:5; 22:17, ecstasies, “a preternatural, absorbed state of mind preparing for the reception of the vision”   In Mark 5:42 and Luke 5:26 the Greek word is rendered “astonishment,” “amazement” (comp. Mark 16:8; Acts 3:10).

Ecstasy,  astonishment  both scary words for the Church…. Continue reading

lay me down in peace: – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”   (Verses from Psalm 4)

David would encourage himself in the Lord in times of trouble.

One way for us to do that is to have  scripture implanted in our hearts and minds.  This only comes from  memorization,  meditation and action.  To know the Lord we must know His Word and walk in it.

image

Then you can lay down in peace and sleep, knowing the Lord is keeping you safe.

“But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.”

Are you set apart, godly?  Does the Lord hear your call?  Do your prayers reach the highest heavens?  Do you listen and wait for His answer?   Do you accept the judgements,  answers to your calls?

“Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.”

Is the joy of the Lord a growing fruit in your life?

Gladness isn’t about a smile on your face or a bounce in your step.  It is a place of   Faith,  (to do His will).  Wisdom,  (to understand His will).  Knowledge,  (to know how to do His will).

Gladness, (is ours in His service).

What have we done? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

What have we done?

Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy:

These words from Isaiah 9, apply to our Churches today.  So many Churches, reverential, solemn, ritualistic, formal.  Hymns, music so wordy no one knows what it means.

Is your church a hospital? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

It explains why so many continue hurting, they never seem to heal, they are continually  recovering.   Never getting better.

” at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, ”  2 Samuel 11

The story of Davids  fall and our fall also.

Instead of leading his people in battle, the king is relaxing on his couch.  Going to his roof, looking about for something to interest him.

When we are looking for something, rather than doing what we should, the Devil is always willing to provide.

Bring Joy to God – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station bill

The secret to putting a smile on Gods face:

image

My wife revealed it to me this morning.   She lamented that she hadn’t spoken on the phone with Celeste,  our daughter  for 2 or 3 days.

That caused me to think of the joy I receive when  she calls me to say Hi, how are you, I love you.

I  am sure God receives joy when we just call on Him to tell Him we love Him, to thank Him for His many blessings. (When we aren’t asking or complaining ).

image

That’s it, tell Him you love Him, Thank Him.  Praise and Worship. …THAT WILL MAKE GOD SMILE.

Let us draw near unto God. – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

1 Samuel 14
” Let us draw near hither unto God.”

The words of Sauls priest of God.  Saul was getting farther away from following God and onto the path of destruction.  The priest could not draw him back.

The true priests of God are calling the people to God  today.   So many prefer the way to destruction.
