The Fire Plug: theunfetteredpreacher

hydrant: : a discharge pipe with a valve and spout at which water may be drawn from a water main (as for fighting fires) —called also fireplug. (Webster)

When we bought our house, I was pleased that there was a fireplug, at the end of our driveway.

Many times over the years, I have come home to find the Fire Department had been by and made sure Water came out with force. (They periodically check them).

(Did you see the Super Bowl commercial, with the Old guy, being tossed around by the Force of the water through the Fire hose?) lol

That is what we want and expect, if the fireplug is needed. It could and does save lives, and homes.

(I remember an unfunny joke, about cellar hole savers). Sad when so many risk all in the pursuit of saving lives, and property.

We find fireplugs, placed strategically in our towns and cities. (They seem to block the best parking places… lol)

The day before I was to go for my Drivers License, (at 16), I had been driving a Corvair, around my Dad’s garage lot.

I had spun around, (fish tailed, such fun), when the back end struck a snow bank.

The throttle stuck, revving fast.

Of course, that was the day Dad, let me drive home, … illegally.

I got to the first corner, from Main to Center street. Popped the clutch, went around the corner, … too far; .. and hit the fireplug.

Thankfully, no damage, (except to my ego).

Dad just said: “Put it in reverse, and get out of here. Go, go, …”

Except,

My best friends Mom was on her porch across the street, saw and reported it all to her son.

Fifty years later, I still have a red face.

Fireplugs, a wonderful invention.

As Christians, we are connected to a fireplug of sorts. He is called the Holy Spirit.

In Him, we find Power to Heal, and Comfort, to Teach, to Guide, Direct and Protect not just us, but those we encounter.

Unfortunately, we are connected, yet fail to understand how (to turn on), to allow the Holy Spirit to flow through us.

Our Speech, our Touch, our Prayers, so much of the time, is dead, at birth.

Our experience, in no way mirrors the lives and times of the first century Christians. Why is this?

We come to Jesus, because we realize, we need something. We need….

We live our lives, blessed by God fulfilling Our Needs. This really is wonderful; yet there is a better way.

Psalms 37, tells us “The Lord gives us the desires of our hearts.”

He gives us the desire to know and serve Him, not the desire for petty, personal, wealth or things.

I have changed my prayer, from Lord, I want to do such and such to serve You.

To: “Lord, may my life fulfil the desires of Your heart, may I Walk in Your Way and achieve Your results.”

Will this help me to rediscover the Power of the Holy Spirit flowing through my life?

Only time will tell. Amen

If ye keep in memory: theunfetteredpreacher

Do memories, ever come to mind? Do you understand how inaccurate they may be?

My daughter was convinced, that, when she was little, I had a pink truck, (it was burgundy), until she saw a picture of herself in the truck bed.

Equally as frustrating, I was sure a boat, (that was beached), was split open at the bow, with a huge bush, growing on or in it.

Until she showed me the picture. Then I knew, and now I remember, Small boat, small split at the bow, small shrub.

This is the picture…. lol. (Really, not what I recall… lol)

Once again, a picture proves even a memory from just a few years ago, Wrong. (How embarrassing is that? lol)

It is a treat, to remember the good things.

It is not always productive. We either remember ourselves as heroes, or victims.

The Saviors, or the Wronged, Mis-used, or Maligned. Are any of them accurate?

A few of my early memories.

– As a real little guy, (3 or 4?), running and falling by the dining room table.

Mom said, I was running with a pencil, stitches in my left eye lid.

– My brothers Magic trick. (About the same age).

Rags our dog had lost a leg, after being hit by a car. He was in the tub, two legs showing… I covered my eyes, suddenly only one leg. Wow… lol

– The Factory fire.

Sitting on the roof of our porch with my sister, watching a factory burn down in the middle of the night.

Did these things happen? I do have the scar on my eye lid, the others, ??? I remember them…. true, false, or dreams?

The point is, our minds are wonderful things.

I remember falling, not the fear, pain, and screaming that must have accompanied it.

I have memories of actions and attitudes from my teens and early 20’s, that cause me great shame, and even more, concerns, of the times I blacked out, and don’t remember.

One memory that is sure and true. The day I asked Jesus to Forgive me and to Save me from myself,

The filthiness of my life, was washed by the blood of the Lamb. The burden of Sin and Shame was lifted.

It is Indescribable, the peace and joy that filled my soul. This is the memory I cling to.

Fortunately, I still know how to repent and seek Forgiveness, when I miss the Mark today. (It still happens).

1 Corinthians 15:1-3 (KJV)

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

This is the Memory we must rely on. I pray you have this memory also. Amen

The Sorry State of… ? theunfetteredpreacher

The Sorry State of …. ?

Our Nation, our Towns, our Churches, our People, … our Faith. Is self evident.

We no longer believe, what was once considered Common Sense, or Truth.

Wrong is now Right, Down is Up, Male is Female. The list is endless, we have lost all sense of decency, and order.

I came to a realization this week.

The first list is in the wrong order. We are in a Sorry State, first, because of our lack of Faith.

As our Faith has failed, our people, our Churches, Towns and Nation, have lost their guiding principles.

How do we right this ship, correct our course? It will take a Miracle.

“This beginning of Miracles,” we read about in the book of John. Had absolutely nothing to do with the relationship of the petitioner, to Jesus.

Yes, I know it was His Mom. Some pray to her. Most of us just accept that Jesus granted her request, because she was Mom.

That wasn’t why. Mom soon learned, she didn’t have that much influence.

Jesus was once told His Mother and Brothers were outside, and wished to see Him? What was His answer?

Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” John 12:48-50

Her being Mom, didn’t bring about the desired result of a few moments of His time.

We hear of her again, when Jesus, on the cross, told John, “Behold Thy Mother!” And to Mary, “Behold thy son!”

What motivated Jesus to answer prayer?

Not family, only FAITH, only the BELIEF that God IS.

It is Faith that Saves us.

“if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:”

“if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

It is Faith, Belief, “that God is, that God will, and even if He doesn’t, we will still serve Him,” that releases God, to preform miracles, in our behalf.

Many wonderful Christian Pastors, Teachers and Leaders, do not believe that God works in Signs, Wonders or Miracles today.

They seem to believe, that as in the days of Eli and Samuel, there are no open visions.

We now have the Bible, so God no longer needs to speak to us individually.

As the body of Christ, accepted this as “Truth,” it became a self fulfilling prophecy.

We end up living a life, that bears little resemblance, to that of the early believers.

Saints, the Lord never stopped revealing Himself to Whosoever will seek His face.

Unfortunately, few of us, are willing to deny ourselves, and seek to please Him, instead of being pleased by Him.

We must return to our First Love. Jesus promised if we believed we would do all that He did and more. (John 14)

Those who TOUCHED Him heard.

“Your Faith has made you whole.”

“According to your Faith, so be it.’

“I have not seen such great Faith.”

“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed”

“Fear not, Only Believe.”

“If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

Today we do not believe. We have lost the ability to believe in the Miraculous.

We still believe in Salvation, and our Churches have plenty of room for new converts. Yet, no one comes. Why?

Their needs are not met, by our Powerless Gospel. Paul warned Timothy.

1 Timothy 6:20-21 (NOG)

Timothy, guard the Good News which has been entrusted to you. Turn away from pointless discussions and the claims of false knowledge that people use to oppose the Christian faith.

Although some claim to have knowledge, they have abandoned the faith.

Paul warned us about, Powerless Rituals and Ceremonies. Services that are so busy, there is no room for the Lord to speak.

We now, only believe half the Gospel.

2 Timothy 3:5
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

It is much easier to fill our Services, with busy, man directed Worship, than to learn to Wait on God, to deliver His Promise, in Power.

1 Corinthians 4:20
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

Hebrews 6:4-6a

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance;”

Saints, as His Church, we should have tasted, the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come. We haven’t.

We have accepted the loss of His Power, because to walk in it takes a real change within us.

It is more than being Saved, by Faith.

We need to change, from wanting things from God, to learning to please God.

By believing, “He is, and He is a rewarder of them that diligently Seek Him.”

Do we Truly Believe, Seek and Walk in Faith? If we did, there would not be room for all who would be Saved.

May we return to Biblical Faith. Amen

The Lepers story: Matthew 8:1-4,Mark 1:40-45,Luke 5:12-14 theunfetteredpreacher

In my original post on the Leper, my primary concern was not knowing God’s will.

The Church today, believes God can, as did the Leper, but we still do not believe His will.

Many other things went on in these Scriptures. Jesus had just preached the Sermon on the Mount.

Great multitudes followed Him. The Leper came and Worshiped Him.

Worship:

We call our Sunday Morning Service a Worship Service. Is it?

Worship
Homage rendered to God which it is sinful (idolatry) to render to any created being (Ex. 34:14; Isa. 2:8). Such worship was refused by Peter (Acts 10:25,26) and by an angel (Rev. 22:8,9). Eastons Bible Dictionary

Worship, is a realization of who God is; Our Creator, Saviour, Teacher, Helper, the source of our Power.

We need to stop, acknowledge the Lord, recognize Him as our all in all. Sing Him love songs, Scripture songs, bow our heads, lift up our hands, ask Him into our lives.

Be still, and know, that He is God.

If you looked up Worship, in Strongs Concordance, you would find, one of the meanings is to fall down, to fall to your knees.

This is how the Leper approached Jesus. Knowing Jesus could heal, knowing not, that He would.

Yet, he Worshiped.

Jesus said, He would, He touched him…. He healed him, immediately….

We are Saved immediately, when we repent and ask. We receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, immediately, when we ask.

We need to learn to walk in Salvation, and also how to pray in the Spirit.

He heals us immediately, He never ran a hospital, and neither should we.

He was told to be quiet and go to the Priest, for ritual cleansing.

He was too excited, spilled the beans, Jesus, then had to go into hiding.

Matthew 8:1-4 (KJV)
When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Mark 1:40-45 (KJV)
And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;

And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

Luke 5:12-14 (KJV)
And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

This beginning of miracles: John 2:11-16 theunfetteredpreacher

This beginning of miracles:” John 2:11-16

The last time I wrote on these Scriptures, my point was, Jesus’s age, (30), after Baptism, and Temptation. (As a child, I thought He was one also).

He had Disciples, Andrew, Peter, James, John. Phillip and Nathaniel.

He displayed Words of Knowledge, (He knew who would join Him, He saw Nathaniel under the fig tree).

Words of Wisdom, (He changed Peter’s name, He knew he would be a leader).

Discerning of Spirits, (Along with the Word of knowledge, He Discerned who would be Faithful).

The Disciples, had been following and learning of Jesus. They began to believe on Him, AFTER seeing the Working of the Miracle, of Water to Wine.

This was a manifestation of His Glory.

Today, we do not see the miraculous often in the Church. Much like in His home town, we are impressed, when a few sick folks are healed.

While He marvels at our UNBELIEF.

The Creator of all that has been created, and, we choose to believe He no longer does, or will do Miracles.

Somehow, we act as if, the best used by date, has past.

We believe He could, but not, that He would.

One other problem, it wasn’t yet, His time, but, Mom asked, so He delivered.

Some pray to Mary, expecting her to intercede, for us.

Missing the truth, that it is Jesus, who we must rely on. They miss the point, it is NOT WHO ASKED, that matters.

IT WAS THAT HE ANSWERED.

She demonstrated the Gift of Faith. He had not said He would do as she asked, while she told the servants to do as He directed.

He answered, because, HE SAW HER FAITH.

I question if He sees or recognizes, Faith in our lives. Do we act like we believe He will answer?

Do we know His will on the matter? Do we do what is needed to touch Him?

When the Disciples wondered why they could not cast out a demon. He answered, “This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” Mark 9:29

We hardly know how to pray, as for fasting? What, Denying ourselves? Not fashionable.

Fasting and Prayer:

The Psalmist, persecuted by his enimies, prayed for them.

Psalm 35:13-14
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

Daniel, understanding, the Prophecy of Jeremiah, sought the Lord, declaring Israel’s sin.

Daniel 9:3
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Anna, a prophetess, an old woman, in the Temple, recognized the Son of God.

Luke 2:37
And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

When you pray, do you wish to see results?

Do you understand God’s will? Are you walking in obedience?

To build His Church, we MUST, seek His Power. We MUST, know His Will. We MUST, Walk in Obedience.

You have not, because you ask not.”

James 4:2
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

ONLY BELIEVE”

John 2:1-11(KJV)
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”

The Miracle of the Gifts of the Spirit. Video

1498589823135

New written post:  More information on video.

Mark 2:13-17. Matthew 9:9-1 Luke 5:27-32

Was it a Miracle?  Why would I include the calling of Matthew with the Miracles of Jesus?

Because it is one of the many examples in the Bible of the use of the Gifts of the Spirit. Jesus, demonstrates the Gifts, that the Spirit gives to those who believe.
We see many examples in both the Old and New Testament.

We see John the Baptist proclaiming Christ as Savior, as Jesus returned from the Temptation in the desert.
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
He explains how he knows Him.
I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, (God the Father), the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.”
He could only know this by receiving a Word of Knowledge from God. We see this Gift of the Spirit, again, when Andrew introduced Jesus to Peter.
And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
Jesus displayed a Word of Knowledge, knowing Peter, and a Word of Wisdom. He would become strong in the Lord, He knew the end at the beginning.
Peter would be a steadfast leader.
The next day again a Word of Knowledge, and the Discerning of Spitits, in the calling of Phillip, and Nathanael, He knew the condition of their hearts.
We have no record, that He had ever seen these two men before, yet He called them and they followed.
He even gave Nathanael, a personal, Word of Knowledge. (I saw you under the fig tree).
These men, were with Him, when He turned water to wine.

John: 2. 11.
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
It was the manifestation of His glory, the Miracle that caused the Disciples to believe on Him.
Did He invite all who believed to follow Him. No.
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.”
Here He displayed the Gift of Discerning of Spirits.
I have heard Pastors say, Jesus could do these things, because they were a God thing.
That is the truth. It is God thing, that was passed on to believers by the Holy Spirit, Gifts available to those who believe.
Gifts we receive when Baptized with the Holy Spirit. We must ask, for the Gift needed at the time of need.
Faith, Healings, Words of Wisdom, Words of Knowledge, Discerning of Spirits, Miracles, the Gift of Faith. These Gifts are available to all who believe.
So much of the Church, because of the Gift of Tongues and interpretation, shy away from studying and growing in the Gifts.

WE SHOULD NOT THROW OUT 7 OF THE 9 GIFTS, BECAUSE WE DON’T UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE, BETWEEN OUR PRAYER LANGUAGE AND TONGUES AND INTERPRETATION.
Jesus came for sinners. He promised us Power to draw all men to Him. The Gifts of the Spirit, are the bricks, we should use to build His Church.

Mark 2:13-17  (KJV)
13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?
17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Matthew 9:9-13  (KJV)
9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.
11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Luke 5:27-32  (KJV)
27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.
29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

GIFTS OF GOD

I am going to try to explain to my Bible class why the Lord gave us these gifts.  Please comment and advise.

Of course I will be explaining and answering questions as we go.

The Gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
Romans 11:29 (AMP)
For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]

God gave gifts to build His home.

Exodus 31:1-5  (read Exodus 35)
“And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,  To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,  And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.”

Exodus 35:30-35
“And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;   And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,   And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.
And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.”

The gift of the Spirit of God was given specifically for the building of His Tabernacle, His home.  We believers are His home today.  We are His Tabernacle.

Ephesians 4:11-15  (Christ gave)
“ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;”

(~ Apostles:  those who had been with Jesus and witnessed His resurrection (or received a special revelation of the risen Jesus)     (Acts 1:21, 22; 1 Cor. 15:1–9).    Delegates of particular churches (2 Cor. 8:23; Phil. 2:25)  (Today One Harbor : growing the body.)
~ Prophets:  The New Testament prophets conveyed special revelation to the early church. Their functions included prediction, exhortation, encouragement, warning, and explanation (Acts 15:32; 21:9–11; 1 Cor. 14:3). The teaching of the New Testament prophets and apostles laid the foundation of the church (2:20),     1 Corinthians 14:3
“ But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”

Ed·i·fy\ˈe-də-ˌfī\
: to teach (someone) in a way that improves the mind or character
Ex·hort\ig-ˈzȯrt\
: to try to influence (someone) by words or advice : to strongly urge (someone) to do something
: to incite by argument or advice : urge strongly

Com·fort\ˈkəm(p)-fərt\
: to cause (someone) to feel less worried, upset, frightened, etc. : to give comfort to (someone)
1 : to give strength and hope to : cheer
2 : to ease the grief or trouble of : console
~ Evangelists:  People especially gifted to proclaim the gospel (Acts 21:8; 1 Cor. 1:17)
~ Pastors and Teachers:  The two words go together to refer to a single set of individuals who both shepherd and instruct God’s flock.
1 Peter 5:2
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;”)

“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”

Why have we been given the 5 fold ministry?   List reasons:

Romans 12:1-9
“ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.   And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:   So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.   Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;   Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.  Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”

Again why was the chuch given these gifts?    List reasons:

1 Corinthians 12:1-12
“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.   Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit,    And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.   And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.   For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;   To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
~ Specific gifts for specific needs, now, today, to increase, build up the body of Christ. (For more, search for: Concerning spiritual gifts) on home page menu.
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:   But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

1 Corinthians 12:25-31
“That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.   Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?   Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?   But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.”

Please read all of chapters 12-14……covet, desire the best gifts, those needed today….USE THEM IN LOVE.

1 Corinthians 14: assorted:
Prophesy:
“Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.”
“But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”
“Rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth”
“He that prophesieth edifieth the church.
“Rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.”

Tongues:
“ For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”
“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; ”
~ Jude 20
“ But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,”
~ Use of prayer language in private….in public, need interpretation.
“I would that ye all spake with tongues (private prayer) but rather that ye prophesied:(public, unless interpret):   for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.   Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?”

“Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.  Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.  For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.  Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.   I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.   Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.”

~ Paul, wants you to have the prayer language, for private use.  To edify yourself, build up your faith, give thanks….ect.
~ Tongues the first gift given in Acts 2.  Why?  Easiest to use, least amount of faith, privately acquired and used as prayer language.
If you want to build the Tabernacle, you need a willing heart, desire God’s gifts.

He gave them to build His Kingdom, I firmly believe, we will find that they are the Talents the Master left and expects us to increase His Kingdom with them.  (see Mt 25 post).

Who am I, O Lord? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Have you ever had occasion, to ask the Lord: “Who am I?”

Moses asked that question when the Lord sent him to the Hebrews and Pharaoh.  Moses tried to change the Lords mind by reminding Him who he was.

I am just a shepard Lord, I don’t speak well, I am nobody, why would they listen to me?   I am not worthy, O Lord.  Send someone else.

Are our hearts and ears open? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Deuteronomy 6:4-6
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

The Lord is calling us:  (We are Israel, today. His chosen.)
He has called us, to hear Him, To listen.  To use our ears for more than a hat rack.  To recognize and understand His voice. To do His will.

The Lord is telling us:
Open your hearts, receive His word, meditate, sing and pray His Word, His Commands, His Laws.  Keep them in our hearts.
Love the Lord with all your heart.  Become a love slave, yearn to learn of Him, to walk with Him, to do His work in His way, in His will and time.

Open our ears and hearts:
Only then will we receive the mercy, grace and knowledge to fulfill His will.
