there is more hope of a fool: The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

When I married the love of my life, 31 years ago, I was confounded and confused.

She didn’t know she was supposed to fix breakfast daily.

That lunch could be soup and a cold sandwich once in a while, (but that’s not a real meal).

Dinner was meat, potatos and vegetables.
Unless it was a special occasion.  Then it was pizza.

Who brought up this women?  She hadn’t a clue how to eat.  She wouldn’t even make gravy.

O the horrors of married life.  What did I do?  What did I do?  What could I do?

I did the only thing I could.  Adapted, Improvised, Overcame.

image

                         (What a turkey)
I got my own breakfast, ate what was served, and liked it.  (lol)

A harsh reality was learned.  Not all families follow the same rules, think alike, or do things the same way.

Over the years it became apparent that our families were different in other ways also.  Bette’s family were all Born Again Christians.

I was raised in the Catholic Church and had only been saved for 4 years before we were married.   Bette’s family had a joy in life.

My family enjoyed sarcasm, biting words, we found joy,
in one-upmanship.

I hate it when I do that now, (and I do, on occasion). I get that Rachel Maddow smile, when I think I’ve been clever.  I wasn’t.

James wrote:
in many things we offend all.”

I am sorry to say, in many ways on many days I have offended all.  You would think an adult male would control his words.

James had more:
Even so the tongue is a little member,”
But the tongue can no man tame.”

He asks:
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

This is my latest folly.  PRIDE…   Of who I think I am, Of what I think I know, Of where I think I should be in the class room.

That’s right, no meek and mild submission.  I must let everyone know, how much I know, how big a fool I am.

image

One-upmanship….a hateful trait.

Proverbs 29:20
King James Version (KJV)
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

If I could only learn to be quiet.

Proverbs 17:28
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Amen

the path of the just: The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

As Christians are we on the path of the just?  Are we even aware of what path we are on?

Do we realize that people are following us, even people we don’t know?

Our lives, actions, comments, attitudes are on open display, to influence lives around us.  Do people see kindness, love, grace under pressure?  Are we honest, do we have integrity, are we moral, responsible, God like people?

image

Are we a shining light, that gets brighter as the days go by?   Are we closer to God today then yesterday?

People see and follow us.  Let us walk in the light, so people are led to the light.  Too often in my life, I’ve led to the dark side.

Proverbs 4:18
Amplified Bible (AMP)
But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared].

Lord, help me to walk in the light.  Help me to be uncompromising, just and righteous.

Sex addict – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

The first time I heard of a “sex addiction”,  it was  the reason a certain public figure couldn’t keep his fly zipped.

As an alcoholic, (dry for many years), I’ve always thought I was powerless against my addiction.  This is the party line.

We have 12 step programs to help us defeat all sorts of addictions.  Alcohol, drugs, shop lifting, smoking, sex, nose picking, finger licking, ect….

I can only come to one conclusion, these addictions are real,  I know they are, I fight several daily.

Let my soul live: The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Lord, I am disappointed, discouraged, dismayed and disgusted…..both hopeless and hostile.

My brook has dried up, I do not understand, is there anyplace of relief?  Of provision?

I am dead, waiting for the grave.  Looking to You, O Lord, my strength has failed.  Lead me to Your light.

Erased History – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

I have been watching amazed, as the people of this once great country, attempt to erase its past.

From the confederate flag, statues of great leaders, (on the wrong side of the issue), and public buildings names, even if it’s the name that is offensive, ( the Lynch building at a collage), not any thing they did.

This morning I heard the country of England is going through the same insanity.

image

You can paint an  old barn, it may   look better, but it’s still an old barn.

Apparently we have begun to think, it hasn’t happened, if you cannot see or hear of it.

Folks there is only one way to erase history.

It works only on personal history and only with one entity.

Father God.

Accept the Son, (Jesus), as Lord and Saviour,
and the Father, forgives you and remembers your sin no more.

Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

As you walk with Jesus, the Father sees you through the sacrificial blood of the only begotten.

Your past is gone, you are sinless, holy and acceptable.

On the other hand.  You may make the symbols of our Nations past dissapear from view, but  it’s History hasn’t changed.

You are just living in denial.

image

If you live in Christ, you do erase the sin and shame of your personal history, with the One that matters, and a new you lives on.

Lord, please help us to understand and to change the truly important.  To accept and learn from our corporate history not to repeat it.

Find pleasures for evermore: The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

pleasures for evermore.”

Woo Hoo, ……….   Sign Me Up

Reading a good book, watching movie after movie…coffee, air conditioned comfort, heat in the winter, (sex,…  sex used to be on the list), food, O the food….”pleasures for evermore.”

image

image

Maybe that’s not what He means for us.

The Lord promises “pleasures for evermore.”

We need to find the place to experience them.

Psalm 16:11c  Tells us where to find this everlasting pleasure.  “at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Wait a minute, is there room at His right hand?  Jesus is there already.

What can we do?

Learn to walk with Jesus, then we will always be at His right hand and experience His “pleasures for evermore.”

Leading the lost to the Lord, praying for and seeing the sick healed.  Comforting the broken hearted, feeding the hungry, clothing those in need.

Sharing His Love and Grace.

Spending time in Vocal Praise, silent meditation, prayerful study and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

These are the places to find His “pleasures for evermore.”

What else might the Lord have for us?

Psalm 16:11b
“in thy presence is fulness of joy;”

Let me get this straight….  At His right hand are:  “pleasures for evermore.” and in His presence is:  “fulness of joy;”…..

Why are we not in His presence, at His right hand, learning to be in constant fellowship, obedience, peace with Him.

The only thing standing between us and:  “fulness of joy; and pleasures for evermore.”
Is our refusing to be at His right hand and in His presence.

He promises to tell us and show us how.

Psalm 16:11a
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life:”

How does He show us?   By His written word and His Holy Spirit, Who will guide us to all truth.

He gives us Words of Wisdom and Words of Knowledge, the Gift of Faith, Gifts of healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, the feared Gifts of Tounges and Interpretation.

We must dig up the Talents, (Gifts of the Spirit).  Learn to use them, to increase them, so that when the Master returns we hear: “Well done, My good and faithful servant.”

I am concerned that too many will miss the mark, having buried the tools He has given us, to increase His Kingdom, in the evil spirit of unbelief and fear.

Let Him show you, ask Him for His gifts, a gift left unopened, is a gift refused.

Don’t refuse the Lords Gifts and Power;  the Holy Spirit.

We need Him to complete our calling.

Psalm 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

image

Lord, help me to stay on the path of life, in fulness of joy, with pleasures for evermore.

May we touch lives with Your love.  Amen

As for God, –

“As for God,”

The first words of Psalm 18:30.
“As for God.”
I sit in wonder and amazement, at the Majesty, Love and Grace of God, of His Eternal Nature and ways, while contemplating that short phrase.  “As for God”

As you know, I have a thing for abandened and neglected things. It started when I noticed beautiful old farm houses, left to rot, while the family, lives in a new mobile home beside it.

image

Beautiful old schools, hospitals, government buildings being torn down, to be replaced with souless, unimaginative boxes.

I think it started after WWII, everyone wanted something new, the things that were built to last hundreds of years, were replaced with things with a life span of 30 years or less.

This my friend, is why we have bridges collapsing, roads full of holes and frost heaves.

Our electrical grid and sewer and water facilities all needing repair.

Our infrastructure falling apart around us.

We think in the “NOW”.

We must change our thinking to the eternal.

The legacy of the post WWII generation is; “That can be replaced.”  Whether our electronics, buildings, life partners or unborn babies.

Everytime we replace the old, tried and true, in buildings, morality or family we loose a piece of our souls.

God has an Eternal way of life for whosoever will accept it.

Psalm 18:30
King James Version (KJV)
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”

A perfect way:
A way where we will find the peace that passes understanding, the joy unspeakabe and full of glory.  A way of comfort, love and forgiveness.  A way that touches, heals and saves others.

The Word of the Lord is tried:
We can rely on His promises.  Though His timing can give us fits.  His Word is Truth.  If it is not working in your life, check your side of the promise.

He is a shield to those that trust Him:
He protects, guides and directs all who listen and walk with Him.

image

His way is eternal.
His words are true.
His love and grace will see you through.

THINK ETERNAL, ACCEPT AND WALK WITH JESUS.

Disappointed? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Are we blameless? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Blameless, a Biblical word, not used often in regular conversation.  It is more typical to hear, “It’s not my fault”.  Than “I am blameless.”

I have not really thought of that word till I read Rebecca Brands post:

“Why we should strive to be blameless… “– http://wp.me/p4Fs0f-t5

Proverbs 13:6
New Living Translation (NLT)
“Godliness guards the path of the blameless,
but the evil are misled by sin.

She makes a simple but eternally important point.

“We can never “not sin” due to our natures BUT we can strive to be blameless in this world.

How?

By being led the Holy Spirit.”

To be blameless.  Now here is a goal, that I never thought to attain.

I have been struggling with the sin that so easily besets me for 30 + years.  It never occurred to me I might be “blameless.”

2 Peter 3:14b
King James Version (KJV)
Wherefore, beloved, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

To  be found in Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.  Be diligent to seek that which is of God; and to do the following:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-24
King James Version (KJV)
Rejoice evermore.  Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Quench not the Spirit.  Despise not prophesyings.  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.   Abstain from all appearance of evil.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless, that is what being sanctified  wholly, (set apart unto God), is all about.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

We are righteous, blameless because of Jesus and His blood, we have a responsibility to become wholly sanctified, by the study of and acceptance of His Word.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Knowing scripture helps God to mold and make us into His image.

Philippians 2:13-15
King James Version (KJV)
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.   Do all things without murmurings and disputings:   That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Blameless and harmless, doing all without murmuring and disputing, (complaining).

Lights in the world, because God works in  us, doing His will and His good pleasure.  That we might:

Philippians 3:9
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Our righteousness, our blameless standing before God is only through the sacrifice of Jesus.

Proverbs 13:6
King James Version (KJV)
Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.”

As a newborn has original sin, but is blameless.  So a man reborn in Christ, covered with His blood is blameless.

Rebecca said it better:
“we can strive to be blameless in this world.

How?

By being led the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 8:13-15
King James Version (KJV)
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Thank you Rebecca for bringing this truth to mind.

Who am I, O Lord? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Have you ever had occasion, to ask the Lord: “Who am I?”

Moses asked that question when the Lord sent him to the Hebrews and Pharaoh.  Moses tried to change the Lords mind by reminding Him who he was.

I am just a shepard Lord, I don’t speak well, I am nobody, why would they listen to me?   I am not worthy, O Lord.  Send someone else.
