O Lord, How Long? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Psalm 13:1-2
“How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?  How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?”

Four times the Psalmist cried out;
~  Will You forget me? For ever?
~   Will You hide Your face from me?

Have there been times in your Christian life, when the Lord could not be found?  You know He is all  around you, but you cannot seem to connect, contact, understand His will?

You begin to question yourself?  Am I not worthy of His presence and guidance?  Must I continue to remind myself of His promises?   Where are You, Lord?
~   Shall I take counsel in my soul,  have sorrow
           In my heart daily?
~    Shall my enemy be exalted over me?

Is there no way to triumph over my sin, have victory over those who would harm me or mine?   Is there no way for my Spiritual Man to  walk in peace and harmony with the Lord?

Psalm 13:3-6
“Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;   Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.   But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.   I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”

Consider, hear, enlighten me Lord…..I trust in Your Mercy and Grace (Salvation), I will prevail over my enemies,  I will sing unto You, You have supplied more than my needs.

Psalm 79:5
King James Version (KJV)
“How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?”

Lord forgive me for allowing other gods into my life.  TV, radio, the Internet,  greed, covetousness,  lust, envy, jealousy. …..Lord, You are the One True God, in You do I put my trust.

Psalm 89:46
King James Version (KJV)
“How long, Lord? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire?”

Lord, let me experience Your presence once again, forgive my worldly desires and ambitions, help me to seek only You.

Psalm 6:3
King James Version (KJV)
“My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long? “

I know I must live with and through the consequences of my sins but how long, Lord, how long?  The Lord (the Father) may alow us to leave His presence but God, (Jesus), made us the following promise.

Hebrews 13:5
King James Version (KJV)
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Turn from your sin, understand Jesus is always there, be content,  seek that which is above and His Righteousness,  all that we need in this life will be added unto us.

According to your faith, so be it.

  1. Soaking in God’s word, meditating on it day and night, choosing to hang out with people that are thriving in their faith, experiencing miracles is God’s RX for feeling alienated from Him.

Psalm 1 is The antidote for spiritual lasitude and depression. Find someone that needs a fresh word from God and share with them how God has blessed you, answered your prayers, what you’ve learned or are learning from Scripture. Self absorption is like filling a fresh stream with rocks and damming the flow. Get the river of blessings moving to others and joy floods in, God becomes more real and actively present.
