Revelation

an uncovering, a bringing to light of that which had been previously wholly hidden or only obscurely seen. God has been pleased in various ways and at different times (Heb. 1:1) to make a supernatural revelation of himself and his purposes and plans, which, under the guidance of his Spirit, has been committed to writing.  (Bible – The Word of God )  (Eastons Bible Dictionary)

Word of God

(Heb. 4:12, etc.). The Bible so called because the writers of its several books were God’s organs in communicating his will to men. It is his “word,” because he speaks to us in its sacred pages. Whatever the inspired writers here declare to be true and binding upon us, God declares to be true and binding. This word is infallible, because written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and therefore free from all error of fact or doctrine or precept.  (Eastons Bible Dictionary)

Everyone that studies the Word of God is eligible to receive Revelation. The first Revelation the Christian receives is the knowledge of sin, the need for repentance, the joy of discovering forgiveness and love, through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, too many quit searching there.  They don’t recognize the ability to find comfort, peace, the fulfillment of needs and desires, that Christ offers us.

Many search elsewhere,  writings, gurus, false prophets or angels.   Wading through the Bible is too hard, it’s not in order, those Biblical names and places are too difficult  to pronounce, or remember.

The Lord will fill us with the Spirit of God, a Spirit  of wisdom, understanding, knowledge and skill to build His Church.  The Gifts of the Spirit are available to whosoever will.  Most won’t.  Most seem to hold Church Doctrine or Rituals higher than the Word of God.

It is not.  We must know the Word. We must walk in that knowledge. When we do, we will receive Revelation Knowledge, we will understand how to Walk with God.   Jesus told us:
Matthew 11:28-30
King James Version (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

The way we learn of the Lord is through His Word.  Martin Luther was a good Catholic, the Wesley brothers were good Episcopalians.  Then they studied the Word.

“Unless I am convinced by Scripture and plain reason I do not accept the authority of the popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other. My conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not recant anything for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. Amen.”

Now we see through a glass, darkly;

Revelation came in a flash of light, to Martin Luther,  the Wesley brothers, to the founders of many Denominations.   To the men and women in many successful businesses.

An idea, a way of doing things,  a brand new product, an understanding of the Word of God, that has suddenly jumped off the page, opened your mind and heart.

You are  never able to view it, in the old understanding again.

When someone has a new understanding of a passage or verse from the Bible, we need to study to find out if it is the truth or a lie.

Does it line up with the rest of the Word?    Are there two or more Witnesses in the Word?

First, we must make sure we check it against the Word and not the Doctrine of our Church.   Martin Luther found the Word in disagreement with the Catholic Church Doctrine.    A new movement was born.

The Revelation I wish to share should not cause a problem, but build up the body of the Church.

The source for my study is the Bible,  I start with KJV, and check my understanding with other versions.   First the scriptures:

Matthew 25:14-31
” For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.”

The Parable of the talents, how often have I heard: “you should be playing piano at this  or that church, you have buried  your talents”?

I often wondered why it was only the piano player that did this?  How about the guy who knew how to make money?  The carpenter or plumber, electrician? Artist?

We seem to have a very limited view of this scripture. It’s either about money or physical talent.

A man is going away, he leaves something with his servants.   According to their ability to handle this thing.

” Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.  But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.”

The one that received the most, (the one with the right attitude, and skills),  used these talents to increase.

The one who received two, according to his ability also increased his.

The one who received but one, hid the one, so, no increase at all.

” After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.”

You know the story, the two that increased received praise and more responsibility.  They heard: ” Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

Not so for the other:  ” Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.”

I believe the Lord used money and not piano playing for a reason, (pianos weren’t invented yet),  increase in cash is easy to visualize.

The problem with us is we treat this story as a Parable,  when in reality it is a Prophesy.

Jesus is Proclaiming His Death and Resurrection.

He is telling us, He is leaving something in our care that we must increase.   What could it be?

Money, skill with a paint brush or hammer?

NO, HE LEFT US THE SPIRIT.  The Spirit also, gave us gifts, they sit on the shelf, waiting to be acknowledged.  They are available to whosoever will.

To teach, guide, direct and protect us.  To lead us to all truth.   We have hid the Spirit in our Churches. Buried it, are afraid of it.

We must seek God, ask for the Wisdom we need to increase that which He has given us.

Like this old tractor, the church is dead, the framework is still intact but it can’t seem to go
anywhere.

We wonder why?
       *  There is sickness
       *  There is little power
       *  There is strife, rebellious people
       *  There is no repentance, holiness
There is sin, unbelief, idolatry in the body.

What is sin and  idolatry today?

Colossians 3:5

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Getting ready to finish teaching on the book of Joshua and start teaching  the book of Judges,  I am reminded once again that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Unfortunately, so are we.

The Hebrew peoples followed the Lord all the days of Joshua and the elders that saw the miracles of Egypt.  Then they fell away into sin and idolatry which leads to unbelief.

” the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:  they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, they forsook the Lord, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.  Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, ”  (selected verses from Judges 2)

This is the church,  we Worship our order of Worship.  Don’t you dare change anything.   We allow sin to abound, believe the Church Doctrine more than the Word.  Gay marriage, abortion, covetousness. ..

We do evil in the sight of the Lord, reject holiness, reject true praise and worship.  Then we wonder why things don’t work as we plan.

The Church needs to dig up the Talents the Master left us,  (Matthew 25 ).  He left us the Gifts of the Spirit,  we don’t believe they are for us, now.  We have the written word of God, we have no need of Words of Wisdom or Knowledge,  the Gift of Faith, the Working of Miracles.

Gifts of Healing,  Prophesy, Discerning of Spirits, heaven forbid tongues and interpretation.

We have buried the gifts, we will not hear.  “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Our leaders and teachers, Pastors need to learn to use and teach the Church what is available to whosoever will but they won’t believe in, never mind ask for and use the Gifts.

The Church today is no different than the Hebrews in Judges.  We need the Spiritual gifts to bring people to and keep them in the love and grace of God.

” the people lifted up their voice, and wept.”

This is what the Hebrews did in Egypt and through out the book of Judges.  The Lord answered these prayers.

” And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.”

The Lord hears and answers our cries but when we cry out, it must be effectual, fervent prayer. ..this only happens when it comes from our innermost parts.

Our pretty, public Church prayers are not that.

We have temptations, evil, sin all around us for a reason.

” That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.”

Lord, help me to walk with You, to love, obey and share Your love.  May I learn to increase the Gifts of the Spirit in my life and the life of Your Church .

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.   And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

The Words of Jesus from John 14.  Is the Father glorified in the Son in your life?  Your Church? Your Walk with God?

Jesus said: “ whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

Is that true?  Are there any conditions?

We must believe : 

James  2:23
“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”

We believe the Lord for Salvation, why?

For me it was the weight of my sins being lifted from my Sprint, I asked for forgiveness and felt forgiven.  The presence of the Lord became real within me.

Jesus  continually said:
“If you believe ”
Only believe ”
“If you can only believe ”
“Believe  only”

James gives a good reason our prayers aren’t answered.

James 4:3
“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

Are our hearts wrong when we ask for healings, provision, comfort or peace? 

Why can we not believe, even when it is right in front of us? 

” Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. ”    My reason :

I am not worthy.   I am saved, sanctified, holy ghost filled and water baptized but not trustworthy.  

I can get a big head quickly and believe He used me because I am special; instead of available.   He has tried me and He found me wanting.

Lord, I long to be a vessel of use for You.  Humble, obedient, reliable.  I ask You to forgive my failures and create in me a heart that is true to You.  A mind and Spirit that hungers and thirsts for Your Righteousness.  Make me a useful vessel.

Do all men seek Him?  I don’t believe they know it, but yes.  Looking constantly in the wrong places,  for the feelings, emotions,  help, wealth or happiness.

It is too simple, even silly to believe a God died for me.  Why would a God demand sacrifices, worship, praise. ….what does He think He is?  God?

What is a Creator,  Supreme Ruler, Lord….?    In our minds, “We are”.

The problem explained.

We don’t look up and see the Majesty of God.  We can see pretty pictures in color on our TV’S or Tablets.  Trees, lakes, waves, insects, no big deal it a evolved.  A big mistake. Climate Change is what we need to worry about. 

We are destroying,  what just happened, by accident. …things have just lived and died the strong survive, until now.  We must not let it continue, save the whales….kill the babies.

Up is down, right is wrong, God is dead.

All men seek Thee.  Yes, He healed the sick, gave comfort to the brokenhearted, they found,  peace, joy, love.

We need to give these things.   The Lord gave us the Holy Spirit to comfort, guide, direct and correct us.  We let Him comfort and forget the rest.

All men will seek Him, when those who believe,  become like Him.

We try on many masks, put on many personalities.  Hide our true feelings, hurts, troubles.

We pretend to be someone or something stronger, better, smarter, more compassionate, giving, thoughtful, then we are.

The truth?

We are man….helpless, lost and alone.  There is nothing good within.  Our Righteousness is as filthy rags.

We seek but do not accept the truth. 

There is only one way to perfect peace.  Only one who gives joy unspeakable.

Put on Christ,  accept Him as Lord and Savior.  Follow Him, allow Him to correct, direct and protect you.

As He shines through, the masks we wear fall away.
Love overcomes all else.  Love never fails.

She was beautiful, sleek, quick, hardy, much loved, well used, had seen many profitable days.

Today?  Sad, broken, alone, only useful for storing  junk,  taking up space, unprofitable, forgotten….neglected.

The new baby, is all wonderfull, full of promise, hope, joy, dreams….expectations.   Then life kicks in.  Getting kicked takes away most of the joy of life.

Man becomes aware that he is not complete.  He needs more:  Money, a new love, excitement ,  (sports car, motorcycle, boat, sky diving).  Always looking outside himself for completion.

These are not bad desires:  They just are not the answer.  They will not make us complete.

Remember Joe 6 pack.  He works hard every day,  home to wife, kids and TV.  Not a bad guy, fulfills his obligations, maybe even goes to church on Sundays.    Hasn’t met the Lord, or known the Lord personally…… Lost.

How to be completed?

Whosoever will, that is what I  need to remember.   As a man that Loves the Lord, I must do my best to love all, walk in Wisdom towards them that are without. …allow Jesus to be bigger than my wants, desires, actions.

Hope that people see Jesus, that they see a man that reflects Godly virtue and truth.  A man, whose life, leads  to Righteousness.  A profitable man.  A man who will lead.

Lord, may people recognize You, through me.

Why write?

Shipwrecked :   Aground :

That is why I write.  I am shipwrecked, stuck in one place, aground.   I  write hoping to touch hearts and lives for Jesus.  To bring people to a place where they can see the Lord without the vail of religion.

The only requirement is to love the Lord and each other.   How are we to do that?   I  find myself always trying to teach something and neglect to introduce the Lord.

He is not far away,  unknowable,  unapproachable.  The Kingdom of God is at hand.   The Good News of the Kingdom of God is now.  Since Jesus died and rose again.  He is knocking at the door of your heart.

All we need do is:

Ask the Lord to forgive us.
     For what?
Selfishness, anger, hate, hurt, unbelief, doubt, pride…..ect.

Ask the Lord to help us change direction.
     Start walking towards the Lord…

Ask the Lord to Save you from your sin and be Lord of your life.

Accept His love and grace in your life.

Now you need to find a Fellowship or Church of believers.   We need to read the Word, make the Word not Church Doctrine the bottom line for our beliefs.

Talk about what you are learning,  if you don’t receive encouragement, discussion as well as correction, as needed, you are not in the right place.

Ask, Seek and Knock the Lord will help you find the place you should be.

As Christians, how many times have we heard….God wouldn’t do that.  How could a loving God let that happen.   

The Lord allows and even has caused bad things to happen to good people.

We like to think God is love…..how can He allow this pain in my life, or my wife, or child.  Please realize Jesus came to save us from the law of sin and death.   He is our Salvation,  our Peace our Hope.

God is a Righteous, Holy, Perfect God.   Wherever these problems and pain came from,  they afflict all to see who will turn to the Lord.   We must seek the Eternal.  Set our faces like flint towards the Lord.

Read Judges 2….understand who the Lord is and what He desires….that has not changed.   He just gave us Jesus and the way to pleasing Him.  “To obey, is better than sacrifice. “

Love the Lord, ask for the Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge to walk in His ways.

Know this:  “You are loved. “

Accept His Grace….it is sufficient.

Lesson revisited – The Filling Station

Twice I’ve written about Judges 1….. both possible answers but not the right answer.  Here is my third attempt,

The Hebrews asked, ” Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?”

The Lord answered:  ” Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.”

When Judah  asked Simeon to go with them is when they showed their evil heart of unbelief.

Praise alone was the means that the Lord would use to conquer the land.  They added to the Lords plan and failed to drive out the enemies who had  chariots with iron wheels.

Once again. ..we must check out the Word ourselves,  study to show ourselves approved.    I  so want to deliver the Word of Truth. …not error. So please know what you believe.   Test the Word and see if it is true.

Lord, put a guard on my lips, that none would be led astray.  That they would be perfect and complete in all Wisdom,  Knowledge and Understanding.

Lesson understood, (finally) – The Filling Station

The lesson understood :

In reading and meditating on the first chapter of Judges, once again a tiny grain of truth seeps through.  

Since Abraham, the Lord had promised, “every place on which your foot shall tread, I have given it to you.”

Yet here we are hundreds of years later, Joshua has led them into the promised land, yet it is still not wholly theirs.   Joshua has died, what next?

The Lord  told them : “Judah shall lead you, I have delivered it to his hand.”

Judah said to his brother Simeon come help me and I’ll help you.   Let’s review :

Reuben the first born.  His name means, The Lord has seen .

Simeon the second born.  His name means, The Lord has heard.

Third born. Levi, whose name means the Lord will join us together.

Forth.  Judah,   now I will praise.

“Billism, brewing ”

Judah chose Simeon to go with him to defeat the enemy    They won in the mountains but lost in the valley because the enemy had chariots with wheels of iron.

Now the Lord doesn’t seem upset…yet His directive wasn’t followed.   The enemy wasn’t completely distroyed.

The Lord always provides a path or a plan for victory.  We are just terrible at following His plan.

What would the outcome have been if Judah had teamed up with Levi instead.

When you join Levi the tribe charged with protecting the Tabernacle of God, the House of God, the keeper of the Knowledge of God with the Praise of God.

I  think they could have become victorious.

I  understand that all these Christian Denominations are really just the different tribes today.  

The problem is the tribe of Judah, the people who understand Praise and Worship are out there on their own.

The tribe of Levi are few in each Denomination,  the few who reverence the Word of God over the book of rules for their sect.

We must get the Word, teamed up with Praise. “So, every place on which your foot shall tread. “

“He will give it to us”   

As we truly spread His Gospel of the Kingdom in power and might as the Lord spreads signs and wonders behind.    As He has promised.

Why sin abounds : The Fix-it Shop

In reading and teaching the Old Testament,  some things really cause me to scratch my head.   In Deuteronomy we find the Lord commanding the Hebrews to destroy all the nations in the promised land.

Joshua brought them in and secured a foothold but they hadn’t yet conquered all.  Which brings us to the book of Judges. The first question in Judges is:  ” Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?”

The answer was Judah,  (Praise).  “ Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.”

If my reading of chapter 1 is correct,  Judah destroyed the Canaanites in most places :   ” And the Lord was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.”

Do you wonder today, why we don’t see the victory?  

I believe the Lord has chosen Praise to lead us to victory,  some of us refuse to employ it.  We won’t allow the simple Worship of singing the Word to lift their hearts and minds above the problems of the day into the promise of tomorrow.

Praise gave the victory but not totally.   Praise could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, they had chariots of iron.

What does this mean?

The chariots of iron, are those things we refuse to give up to the Lord.  Those peculiar things we love more than Him.  Our secret sin.  The parts of our past we continue to feed.

To attain total victory we must learn to Praise….quote the Word to the Word, Moses knew to remind the Lord of His promises.   Sing unto the Lord, lose yourself in Worship.   Discover the Lord inhabits the Praise of His people.

Then giving up that which hinders our walk will be easier.   Still a trial but total surrender will bring total victory.   At least for today.  Unfortunately tomorrow will have its own battles.

Lord, help us to understand and walk in Your victory.

Are people Drawn to or Driven from:

         – The Church
         – The Gospel
         – The Godhead
         – The Faith
         – Jesus

Why is my church not growing?  Where is everyone?  Why is the church up the street growing?  What is wrong with my church?   Why are we driving people from our midst?

Are they offended by  the Joy of the Lord?
    I don’t think so, there is too little Joy.
Are they afraid of the Power of the God?
    I don’t think so, there is so little Power.
Is the problem the Love of the Lord?
    I don’t think so, we do not practice His Love.
It must be Gods Mercy and Grace?
    You think?   Are we Merciful?   Do we display Grace?

Are we as Preachers, really teaching or do we just preach?

” Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Even with this blog, I find myself preaching more than teaching.   We need to admonish in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual songs…..singing and memorizing the Word of God.

We can find and share the Love of the Lord as we sing of His Glory.

The steps of a good man. …
He that dwelleth in the secret place…
Give ear to my words, oh Lord…
The Lord God is a sun and shield. …
I will sing unto the Lord. …
We are a chosen generation. …
I love You Lord, and I lift my voice….

Singing the Word of God has helped me memorize scriptures, find my way out of depression,  understand the Promise of God.

It is hard to condemn when singing of Gods love and grace.   We need to learn how to share His Love in song.

“How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?”

The body of Christ, Christians, believers. …Listen up….I believe He is talking to us today.   We have gladly accepted Salvation,  Mercy and Grace.  We practice giving, ministry and prayer.

The Church, (for the most part), lacks real power.  Most churches are not being added to daily,  we aren’t in one accord, in thanksgiving, praise or Prayer.

If the Word states one thing and the Doctrine of our sect dosn’t agree, we follow our Doctrine instead of the Word. 

God gave us the Word,  man has interpreted the meaning….we need to know it individually, ourselves, study, so you can readily recognize error.   We are responsible for our own walk. 

It is not the Pastors job to make you eat, he only leads you to green pastures,  still waters, the place to restore your soul.

I  firmly believe the Gifts of the Spirit are the Talents the Master left and instead of investing in the use of same, most of the body has buried them.

Pray that the Lord reveals the gift He would have you exercise.   Make sure it lines up with the Word, step out in faith, stand fast and see the Salvation of God.

He promises to give us anything we ask….are we asking for the right things…we need to look to the Spiritual instead of the earthly.  Pray the prayers of Paul for your Pastor, leaders, your Church. 

Expect the Lord to answer your prayers.   This is the will of God,  that you would be perfect and complete in Him, that your wisdom and understanding of Him would be opened. That you would share His Gospel with success.
