ye had turned aside quickly out of the way

This phrase appears 3 times in the Bible.   All of them in connection with  the 10 commandments and the golden calf.

Moses had been on the mountain 40 days and nights….the people had turned aside quickly out of the way.

Jesus has been at the right hand of the Father for 2000 years.    The church has turned aside quickly out of the way.

Why do I say that?  Because the church is all  rituals, regulations and doctines,  All designed to keep us in line.  It’s back to the law because it is easier to enforce, than to trust the Spirit to teach,  comfort and draw us closer to the King.

Jesus is proclaimed but profaned.  We are believers that do not believe.  We preach but do not teach the whole counsel of God.  When the Word contradicts our beliefs we reject the truth of the Word.

What we don’t believe :

       ■      true oneness with God
We have accepted Jesus as Savior and we sometimes allow Him to be  Lord.  We may read devotionals, pray;  work at charity, feed the hungry, clothe the poor;  but have we learned to please the Lord?

Revelation 4:11 tells us “we were created for Gods pleasure.”

Psalm 147:11
King James Version (KJV)
“The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.”

Do we truly fear the Lord?  Do we work out our salvation daily?  I  know I hope in His mercy but do I live in the reverential fear of the Lord.

Here are two translations of my favorite verses…..note the meaning of fear.

Malachi 2:5-6
King James Version (KJV)
“My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.  The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.”

Malachi 2:5-6
Names of God Bible (NOG)
“I promised Levi life and peace. I gave them to him so that he would respect me. He respected me and stood in awe of my name.  The teaching that came from his mouth was true. Nothing unjust was found on his lips. He lived with me in peace and honesty and turned many people away from sin.”

Levi walked, (lived) with the Lord, taught the truth of Gods Word, did not sin with his lips,   He lived in the peace that passes understanding,  was honest in his love of the Lord and that turned many away from sin as people learned of Gods  mercy and grace by seeing and knowing him.

Levi is the only man in the Word that the LORD said:  He walked with ME.   To me Levi is someone we should emulate.

Psalm 149:4
King James Version (KJV)
“For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.”

Haggai 1:8
King James Version (KJV)
“Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.”

He desires we build a true Church, not a building or Denomination.  We the body of Christ, the Christian people are the Church.  We should join in fellowship with other believers.  Not deny the truths they have found.

Learn from those who see the results of prayer,  praise and worship.  Throw out the regulations and rituals that are a form of Godliness but deny the power of a risen Savior.

Open our hearts to the work of the Holy Spirit to cleanse us, renew our minds by the Word of God which builds our faith and walk with Jesus.

If I  never learn to Worship in Spirit and truth I will never live in His courtyard. (Psalm 65:4)  I must learn to listen, to hear the heart of God.  To receive the blessings of obedient service.

If we believe in Salvation,  why do we leave the Gifts of the Spirit on the shelf?   “These signs shall follow them that believe. “    Are you a believer?   Turn around, see any signs?  No?  What is wrong with our belief system?

Rituals, regulations and doctines,  this is the death of the Spirit.  Jesus lived and walked in the moment,  touching and teaching all He encountered.

In Acts 2:46-47 “and they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,  Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

Do you think they agreed on everything?  Of course not.  They agreed on the Spiritual, and let others have their preference  on the color of the carpet and other meaningless earthy  things.

Let the Spirit guide you, teach you and love you.  Know the Word of truth,   so you can recognize the lie.  Try the spirits , whether they be of God.  Walk with Jesus.

Lord, help us to know, learn and live in the shadow of your love, may the Holy Spirit have free reign in our lifes.  May people see You in those who love You and turn away from sin.

The Blessings of the First Commandment:

The 5th Commandment is known as the first Commandment with promise:

Exodus 20:12
King James Version (KJV)
“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”

As we read Deuteronomy 6, we find the first Commandment,  with many promises,  Responsibilities and Conditions, that if we follow, we will be blessed :

The Blessings of the Lord :

Your days prolonged;  it may be well with thee, and  ye may increase mightily;  the Lord God  promised,  the land that floweth with milk and honey.

 the Lord thy God brought thee into the land;  to give thee great and goodly cities,  houses full of good things, wells digged, vineyards and olive trees, when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers.

To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, “

Seven tribes he will cast out. (7 deadly sins?)

the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore,  before our eyes:  he brought us out, that he might bring us in, to give us the land  that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

None of this is a hardship, or out of the way, it is always for our good.  The Lord encourages us to know Him.  This is just the means to prove our love of the Lord.  If we would live in these Responsibilities and Conditions, God promises blessing.

For our good always,  that it (life), may be well, that we (physically, mentally,  emotionally) may be well, that we may (our families) increase, that we may possess the land.

Responsibility and Conditions :

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:  love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, soul, and might.

Hide these words in your heart;  Teach them to your children; talk of them when sitting; walking; resting and rising.   Keep His word at hand, before your eyes;   Write them on door posts, and gates;

Do not forget the Lord;   instead Fear, serve, swear by the Lord. Do not go after other gods;  Do not temp the Lord

diligently keep the commandments, testimonies,  statutes, of the Lord your God,  do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord:

the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always,”

None of this is a hardship, or out of the way, it is always for our good.  The Lord encourages us to know Him.  This is just the means to prove our love of the Lord.  If we would live in these Responsibilities and Conditions, God promises blessing.

Our only duty is to learn of Him, love Him and proclaim His Gospel.   “The kingdom of God is at hand.”

You can know,  love, walk with, talk to and understand His Mercy and Grace.  “He stands at the door and knocks.”

Will you open your heart and let Him in?

Wisdom from Lepers :

The story of Elisha is quite incredible.   In our mens meeting this am Pastor Nelson  mentioned the Lepers of 2 Kings  7,  the city  was besieged,  people were eating their children.  Elisha had a Word of Knowledge and predicted  provisions in plenty tomorrow.

Four Lepers decided to see if the enimies would feed or kill them, they hoped for mercy.   When they entered the enimies camp they had fled leaving everything behind.

A couple of points interested me.

■    2 Kings 7:6
King James Version (KJV)
“For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.”

When we are surrounded and there is no way we can win, The Lord is able to deliver us.  Sometimes we must just believe the Word of the Lord.  “Stand fast and see the Salvation of God.”

The Lepers ate and carted off  spoils…..when  a Word of Wisdom came to them.  It is a Word we need to heed.

■     2 Kings 7:9
King James Version (KJV)
“Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.”

Why are we not doing well?

We are besieged all about by sin, degradation, temptations, greed, lust the world and all its glory.

Why are we not doing well?

We have the Glad Tidings, yet we do not proclaim it with our Words, actions or attitude. We hold our peace. …let someone else do it.

We were sent out to share the Good News  “The Kingdom of God is at hand.”

Jesus is alive, a personal force we can intimately know and love.  He would have all come to  the knowledge of His Grace and Mercy.

We must learn to dwell in His Secret Place, the Holy of Holies,  to put on His Yoke.  To learn to say YES LORD.  Not What? Where? When? How or Why?

■    Romans 10:14
King James Version (KJV)
“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”

We must share the Word of Life……

Have the Wisdom of the Lepers.   Some mischief is coming,  be prepared,  spread the Love of the Lord.

If we would hunger and thirst for righteousness,  the light of the Lord will touch those we meet.

The time is come, Now is the…..?

The time is come, Now is the…..?

Now is the….what?

We find these 3 words in this order 4 times in the Word. The first in:

Ezekiel 7:3

“Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.”

Ezekiel 7:7

“The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, ”

Ezekiel 7:12

“The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.”

These words of prophecy of Ezekiel came to the Israelites because of their unbelief, the worshiping of false Gods, when they were the children of God.

We Christians the adopted children through the blood and blessing of Christ have a responsibility to be Worshipers of the one true God.

The time will come, God is a jealous God, we must put Him before work, play, spouse, children, worldly possession and gain.

John 12:31

“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”

John in the New Testament warns of the judgment, the time of Gods victory. ..the devil to be cast out, the world to be judged.

1 Peter 4:17

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

God could hardly judge the world before He judged His own. If those who claim Him as Lord, love another and believe not His Word. Are those that do not claim Him worse?

John 13:31

“Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him”.

Jesus now at the right hand of the Father, glorified, magnified, His blood covering our sins. His love evidence of Gods love.

2 Corinthians 6:2

“(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”

Hebrews 4:7

“Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”

Today is the day to put aside all that distracts from Jesus, the author and finisher of our Faith. Open your heart, minds and eyes, recognize Now is the time.

Revelation 14:15

“And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”

At the time of the harvest will you be wheat or chaff? I pray we are the wheat.

Faith

I was reading  a post at  “earthlytraveler.wordpress.com”  ,  “Big Faith”.  He used this scripture to state: ” What a wonderful, wonderful promise! That you and I are welcome to partake in that heavenly feast!”

Matthew 8:8-13
King James Version (KJV)
“The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.”

It is a wonderful thing faith and available to whosoever will but check this out.

Jesus was prophesying the Gentiles being saved.  (11)

The underlined verse  (12), He is speaking of Gods Chosen,  the Israelites.   The Children of the Kingdom of God at the time.

They will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven because of unbelief.

Here comes a “Billism”  A teaching of the Word, you may not have heard before.  Ck the Scriptures to see if true.

Today many that profess to be Christian,  attend  church, do many things for the Church may well be Baptist,  Lutheran, Catholic, United Methodist, or a score of other Denominations and not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Their  love is for the building or the Pastor or to the position they hold in the body.

When I hear I’m a whatever, I  cringe.

Myself I am a Christian who follows Christ.  At the moment I attend and play piano at a nice UMC.

Growing up as a Catholic I was taught only Catholics would be in Heaven. ….How wrong a Church Doctrine.

I fear other Denominations feel the same way….they have the truth.  It’s nice you attend Church but if you come to mine you’d be more saved.

Folks your Faith and Belief must be in the Cross, Blood and Resurrection of the Christ.  Not the Church who claims Him as their own.

I understand like minded  people gathering to Worship,  we are all of different tribes.

We have churches that Praise God in Spirit and Truth.
Those that Major in Soup, Soap and Salvation.
Churches that believe in a quiet reverence.

This is all good, if their beliefs are Biblical.  Please take off your Denominational glasses, read and study to show yourselves approved, a workman rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

Have Faith in God not your Church;   Your Church doesn’t make you a Christian.   Following Jesus the Christ is the only way.

Lord help us to love and follow you.

Gods people: Stiffnecked, Rebellious or ?

In the book of Exodus we find the Lord refers to the Hebrews as Stiffnecked,  this is translated several ways:

Stiffnecked :
impossible to deal with. very stubborn [a stiff-necked people]. oh! what a stubborn, hard-headed people! they are an obstinate people. they are a strong-willed people.  (stiffnecked, obstinate people); unbelievably stubborn.

Sounds like the Church today, the people are ready to split off and go their separate ways because of the color of the carpet, the removal of the back row of seats,  a word spoken in anger or rebuke. …they will not accept correction, chastisement. Refusing to submit themselves to the Word or Will of God.

in Deuteronomy the Lord refers to them as Rebellious and this is translated :

Rebellious :
you have refused to obey the Lord. refused to obey [rebelled against] ” And what did you do? You rebelled. Rebelled against the clear orders of God, your God. Refused to trust him. Wouldn’t obey him. You’ve been rebels against God from the first day I knew you.

I am not a Rebellious Christian but I  am Stiffnecked,   I don’t refuse but I do resist.  I believe and trust; but Lord if you would do it my way, it would be so much (better, eaisier, faster, simpler).   My natural man also fails in the matter of sin.

Romans 7:18-20, 24-25
King James Version (KJV)
” For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.  For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.  Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”

” O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”

My natural man, my sinful nature is that of an addict.
Booze, drugs, sex, solt drinks, coffee, tobacco even Jesus.

I don’t do much in moderation.   Before I was saved, it was awful,  since the new birth I am a new man. The battle is won, yet the battle goes on.

If I stay in the Word and Prayer I win the scrimmage, slack off and the old man slips in.  I am the man that hungers and thirsts for righteousness.

Who has a sin that so easily besets me.

Thank you, Jesus that I can confess my sins and You are faithful and just to forgive me.

Thank you Lord that I can boldly come to the Holy of Holies to find Grace and Mercy in my times of trouble.
Lord help me to draw closer to You  daily.

the LORD thy God hath chosen thee

Deuteronomy: 7. 6. For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

Do you believe that?  Has the Lord chosen you?  Are you holy?  Special, above all people?

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.   The promises of God are yes and amen.

You are the beloved,  a gift beyond great price.

Are you living up to His expectations?   I  know I  am not.  He desires me to be Holy,  I am, only by His blood.  He chose me, only because of His love and mercy.

I am special only by His grace.

In 2 Kings 13 we have Elisha on his death bed instructing Joash, the King of Israel. Shoot an arrow out the window. The arrow of the Lords deliverance. …to mark victory over enimies.

Then he had him hit the ground with the arrows. …he smote the ground thrice. Elisha was upset, “You should have smote the ground 5 or 6 times, then you would have consumed your enimies. ….now you will only have victory twice.

How was he to know? He wasn’t. The lesson for us is to do whatever we do with our whole heart and soul.

The way to please the Lord and gain victory over sin and death is to seek the Lord, determine in our hearts to love, honor an obey the Lord. Be set apart, dedicated to His service, open to His directions, protection and inspiration. To do all with all and above all for Him.

The Helper

The other night I complimented my college aged daughter, on how well she helped me do a job that day and how I’d enjoyed her company.

She thanked me and commented: “I didn’t do much.”

I ended up explaining how important, a good helper is:

*   Paying attention

*   understanding what part or tool is needed next

*   having it handy

*   Fetching needed stuff

*   Being a third hand, when needed

*   a good attitude

It caused me to evaluate my status as a servant of the Lord.

☆   Do I pay attention to His work?

☆   Do I understand what He needs from me?

☆   Am I ready with the words or actions to fill the need?

☆   Am I  willing to go at His bidding?

☆   Will I get my hands dirty to serve His need?  (Dig a ditch, build a mud pie?)

☆   How’s my attitude?    (Am I too good to be second banana? )

To be honest,  I am probably one of the worst of His servants.   Most times I am sure His work would go faster, better and prettier, if He could just listen to my advice and let me do it my way.

I  sometimes have a hard time with the verse:

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He shall lift you up.”

I am sure I am worthy of all glory, honor and power.

Do you see why I  have a problem?  As I look around  I don’t believe  I’m alone.

Many of us want it our way.  We are the star, the only one who knows how it should  be.  Whether it’s the colors of the carpet or where the money should be used, or what the Pastor preaches.

STOP IT!!!

Become a good and faithful servant.

The operative word is servant…..to be a good  servant we must do His will, His way, in His time.  Not mine.

Help me please, Lord, to walk and obey.

4 types of believers :

There are 4 types of believers in the body of Christ :

The Church attenders
The Levites
The Priest’s
Those who walk with God :

☆  The Church attenders:

These are the people who desperately want  a Savior,  some attend church Christmas and Easter, most  every Sunday, a chosen few  two or more times a week.  They may be involved with Sunday school, choir, Bible  study.

They know the apostles creed, they have believed and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior.

They have allowed Jesus to be Savior;  As Lord, not so much.

They love the idea of being saved as long as it doesn’t interrupt or change their lives too much.

Like the Hebrews in the desert, they will gladly partake of the Lords provisions while complaining about the same.

Man: “I haven’t had a new pair of shoes in years.”
Other man: “Well, they still look brand new.”
Man:  “Yeah, I want different ones.”

Dismissing  the miracles the Lord is doing, daily.

☆  The Levites:

The Levites are the backbone of the Churches; they are the organizers,  the workers, builders, movers and shakers.

In the desert they assembled and disassembled, carried and cared for the Lords house.

Protected it from stangers (those who knew not the Lord).  They stood with the Priest’s  when the Church attenders sinned.

They know the apostles creed, they have believed and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior.

They have allowed Jesus to be Savior;  and Lord in many areas of their lives.

Some things are just to dear to give up.

☆  The Priest’s :

These are the doers of the Word:  They study to show themselves approved, workmen rightly dividing the Word of truth.  They teach, preach, exhort, comfort, guide and direct. Wherever  they go.

They know the apostles creed, they have believed and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Jesus is their Lord and Savior :

They live a life of holiness, sanctification and consecration.

They deny themselves and take up  their cross daily.

They work out their Salvation with fear and trembling.

They have set their face like flint towards the Lord.

They may have many followers or none.  They are concerned with being obedient to God.  They will be misunderstood,  maligned, persecuted and highly favored by God.

☆  Those who walk with God :

Psalm 65:4
King James Version (KJV)
“Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.”

This is who we all should aspire to be.  The Lord has stood at the door of our hearts, we have accepted Him in.  Now we need to let Him Cause us to approach,  learn to enter into the Holy of Holies,  to find the mercy and grace He so wants to share.

Psalm 22 tells us He inhabits the Praise of His people.  If we desire  to walk with Jesus, we must learn to praise and worship.  Learn to live the Lords prayer, not just recite it.

If we want to experience joy unspeakable, the peace that passes understanding, the comforter, teacher, lover of our souls, we must Worship and adore Him.  Believe Him…Take His Yoke…..it is the only way to Walk with Him.

If you just attend Church,  and  don’t allow Jesus to be Lord, when its time to enter the promise, you may find you have an evil heart of unbelief.  Like the Hebrews you may just wonder and die in the desert.

Please Lord, create in us clean hearts and renew our Spirits, that we might Walk with You.
