the word of the Lord was precious – The Fix-it Shop – Filling Station

This is from 1 Samuel 3:1.  ” the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.”

We find Eli the High Priest a man that knew  the Form, Rituals, Duties and Laws of the Lord but didn’t seem to know the Lord at all.

His sons were ungodly, taking the best of the Sacrifices for themselves, leaving the dregs for God.  Entertaining themselves with the Prostitutes who were in the area.

The Temple should have had  a warning sign.

image

It was a form of godliness, denying the power thereof.

I believe that is why the sons were off track.

Their  Rituals were dead, there was no life. No truth to their Worship.  It’s hard to be a Servant of the living God, when He is far from you because of your sin and unbelief.

Hannah, had come and prayed for a son, whom she would dedicate to the Lords service.  Her prayer was answered and after the child was weaned, she entrusted him to Eli to learn the ways of the Lord.

It is a wonderful thing that Eli, a man who knew not the Lord, could teach Samuel to be a man that the Lord could and would use.

Why Samuel and not his sons?  Hannah had given him to the Lord, prayed for him, taught him at home before giving him to Eli. Hannah shared her living faith.

Samuel had an open heart and mind to serve and obey the Lord.

It wasn’t long before Samuel heard the voice of the Lord, who gave him a Word of Knowledge, the Lord told him of the end of Eli and sons.

So  the Word of the Lord was precious, (hidden, not proclaimed), until a suitable vessel was in place.

Today Saints, the Word of the Lord could go forth in Power and Might, if the Lord found suitable vessels in His body.

By the ninth chapter we find:

“the Lord had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came,”

Samuel was an open, obedient, reliable and humble vessel, the Lord told Him many things, before they came to pass.  Wouldn’t that be handy in our lives?

Has the Lord spoken into your ear?  Would you recognize His voice if He did?  The Lord will speak to those who will listen.  Has He been trying to get your attention?

Is there something in your lo life that is more important than Him?  A person or thing, greed,
lust, pride?

It could be that small sin you won’t left go of.  You feed it when you’re alone.  You don’t want anyone to know, it shames you, you believe you have it conquered, then it sneaks back into the light.

No matter how hard we try, the old man raises his ugly head. How long oh Lord?

Until, you are fully immersed in His Word, desire His presence, allow His leading, guiding, directing your path.

We must take a page from Samuels book.  Love and Obey the Lord with our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Love one another, be open to say:  “Speak Lord, your servant listens.”

Then we may find Power and Might in our Worship.

When did Jesus receive power?

When did Jesus receive Power?

I would hazard a guess, that most people think Jesus was powerful from birth, I don’t believe so.

He told His Disciples:
“You will receive power after the Holy Ghost shall come upon you.”

I believe the same held true for Jesus.  You remind me of the water into wine.?  Remember the response Jesus gave:

I also will keep thee: The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

While reading Wally Fry’s devotional this morning at “Truth at Palmya” about the Church at Philadelphia. This piece of scipture grabbed my attention :

Revelation 3:1
” Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”

“I also will keep thee”

The Lords promise to keep us as he did the Pharaoh in Abrams time:

so easily beset us – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Hebrews 12
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; ”

Is there a sin that you seem to conquer and all of sudden it’s back to plaque you. You have repeatedly asked the Lord for forgiveness, deliverance. …You are clean, free until you’re not? Continue reading

Why Neglected Caroline and The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station?

When we moved to North Carolina, (USA), in 1985, I was amazed at all the buildings that were sitting empty and falling apart.  I thought I should do a coffee table book, and have a huge NC on the cover but instead of North Carolina, it would stand for Neglected Caroline.

I bought a Tab 3 last year.  Suddenly I had a camera with me and started shooting.  I also was able to start writing. (Spell check ).  So a blog was born.

Blogging Goals: blogging 201

I have enrolled in blogging  201,  to focus what I hope to accomplish with “theunfetteredpreacher.com “.  A friend recommended I start a blog after looking at the rough draft of a book. (THE TRINITY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT –  page at “theunfetteredpreacher.com).

I foolishly thought at the time anyone reading it would catch the Revelation; and I would be back on the road, teaching and preaching…. lol….

Proverbs 17:21
King James Version (KJV)
“He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.”

My poor father could not of had any joy during my teenage years.  There was never a bigger fool then me, before Christ.  Sex, Booze, Drugs, Rock and Roll.

I had absolutely no respect for authority,

the word of the Lord was precious in those days; – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

“the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.”

This is in the time of Samuel, a young boy, dedicated to the Lords service by his praying mother.  He was taught the ways of the Lord by the High Priest  Eli.

Like many people in the Bible, Eli, just appears in his office, there is no record of how this man, a Levite, a priest attained the office of high priest.

He wasn’t particularly Spiritual, he thought Hannah, the mother of Samuel was drunk, as she was struggling with the Lord, praying for a son.

He  allowed his two sons to mock the priesthood,  taking the best for themselves, rather than dedicating it to the Lord.

In this atmosphere we find Samuel.

” Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him.”

He was preforming the duties of a true priest of God.
Humble,  obedient, reliable, teachable and we find the Lord, revealing Himself.

” Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. ”

image

The Lord can bring life, to the dead.

When we begin to humbly, obediently, reliably,  serve the Lord, with an open heart, mind and spirit, He will speak,  guide, direct our paths.

He will make our paths straight.

I believe the Lord has always had a remnant, a people who have loved Him, even in the times, like today, when it seems He  is far away, quiet, even silent, leaving us to  mock His way, ignore His principles, precepts, laws.

In every Denomination,  there are those who want to bring God up to date, enlighten Him to todays standards of wisdom and understanding.

Unfortunately many in His Church agree.

They tickle the ears,

“Your OK, God will forgive, He will reward you in your bad behavior.”

They do not understand the concept of repentance, turning from our wickedness to righteousness.

Don’t expect to hear the Lords voice when you are not living a righteous, holy life.  “Be ye holy as He is holy.”

The Lord can and will forgive the worst of offenses, when we turn to Him.

Acknowledge His Majesty, Worship Him in Spirit and Truth, Walk in the light, power and the love of the Lord.

” all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the Lord.”

In obedience to the Lord, the Lord will lift you higher:

” That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.”

image

Lord, help us to Walk in You. Tô love and obey.  ” the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.”  Lord, help us to hear, to see and understand Your  calling on our lives.
