Psalm 31:12
” I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.”

What have you done for me today?

That is what is important to many people.   If you haven’t propped them up,  scratched their backs, or given them something.  You don’t exist.

Not so for the Lord.   The “steadfast love of the Lord never changes “.

Jesus, while we were yet sinners,  gave His life, so that we might be able to enter the Holy of Holies.  That we can go to the Father, covered with His blood, Holy, Righteous, Justified, Sanctified. ….Forgiven.

Psalm 37:25
” I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

God is Faithful, He calls us to the same.  No more, No less.

Revelation 17:14
“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”

Lord, help us to be Faithful, prayerful, humble followers.

WARNING: A STRONG POSSIBILITY SOME WILL BE OFFENDED.  DO NOT READ IF YOUR POLITICS COMES BEFORE THE LORD.

A few years ago Mel Gibson was the rage.  Most handsome,  most desirable. Great story, great actor/director, top of his field.

Then the Spirit of God got ahold of him, he made “The Passion of Christ ” movie.  He was warned not to, “it’ll loose money, alienate fans, ruin  your career. ”

It made him bigger and more loved then ever.  Then his life fell apart.  (He fell from grace)  Everyone turned on him.

How about Bill Cosby,  well respected comedian, actor /director, entertainer.  I  loved him as a child, “Noah” and so many other  great sketches on his albums.

As an adult I enjoyed the Cosby Show, loved the whole family.   What happened?

He stood up and said: “Black youngsters needed to pull up their pants, learn to speak English and work hard.”

He received criticism, that was not enough punishment, stuff hidden for  thirty years, now comes out.  Everyone turned on him.  If he did it, he is a sleeze; but why now?  It’s kind of late, isn’t it?

The other Bill, Bill Clinton.  The titular head of a political party.  Lied to the American people,  accused of several rapes, impeached, disgraced.

He Keeps on keeping on,  Nothing hurts him for long.  Why?  He doesn’t  pretend to be a Godly person, abortion is OK, gay marriage is great, socialism is the plan.

The moral of the stories :

If you try to do the right thing, the good thing, the Godly thing.  The Devil and his minions will push and pull to find your weakness,  (secret sin),   untill they ultimately  destroy your usefulness  for good.

You have to be strong in the Lords love to survive.

How sad when the Righteous have fallen.  There is no mercy from the world for them.

If you believe up is down, wrong is right, black is white.

The world is your oyster. “It’s only sex.” “Everyone lies about sex.”  “His intentions were good.”  “He stands for womens rights.”

Sorry if that offends some. 

That is how it appears to me. 

Lord, save us from the judgment of the world. May we judge righteously, carefully and Godly judgment.   Help us to walk in the light.

Forgive us and turn us toward You.

There is a local car dealer that always speaks of “A customer for life”.  How he had read a book with that title forty years ago and has followed it’s direction since, even giving copies to his employees.

Such dedication to a book.  Do you know Christians that are that committed to the Bible?  Do we live by it, have it for our guiding principles,  give copies to those who are coming behind us?

We should be.  The Word of God, the Bible is the inspired Word of the Lord.   We need to know it, live by it, declare it, give it away,  encourage those who show an interest to delve in, ask questions, seek the face of the Lord.

Are you lacking in anything?  I am.  Why?  Because I am not the man of God that I long to be.  Why?  Because I am blind, I have allowed the Old Man to dominate in my life.  I lack the wisdom and willingness to truly follow my Lord.

Self will overcomes selflessness, pride, greed, lust overcomes service and love for others.  What must I do to correct my wrong headedness?

This is a partial verse from Psalm105:43a, it is referring to the Exodus.  The slaves were set free, they left Egypt with the spoils of their Masters.  They had the Lords protective presence before and behind them.

“the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.”

This is in the time of Samuel, a young boy, dedicated to the Lords service by his praying mother.  He was taught the ways of the Lord by the High Priest  Eli. 

Like many people in the Bible, Eli, just appears in his office, there is no record of how this man, a Levite, a priest attained the office of high priest.

He wasn’t particularly Spiritual, he thought Hannah, the mother of Samuel was drunk, as she was struggling with the Lord, praying for a son.

He  allowed his two sons to mock the priesthood,  taking the best for themselves, rather than dedicating it to the Lord.

In this atmosphere we find Samuel.

” Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him.”

He was preforming the duties of a true priest of God.
Humble,  obedient, reliable, teachable and we find the Lord, revealing Himself.

” Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. ”

The Lord can bring life, to the dead. 

When we begin to humbly, obediently, reliably,  serve the Lord, with an open heart, mind and spirit, He will speak,  guide, direct our paths.

He will make our paths straight.

I believe the Lord has always had a remnant, a people who have loved Him, even in the times, like today, when it seems He  is far away, quiet, even silent, leaving us to  mock His way, ignore His principles, precepts, laws.

In every Denomination,  there are those who want to bring God up to date, enlighten Him to todays standards of wisdom and understanding.

Unfortunately many in His Church agree.

They tickle the ears,

“Your OK, God will forgive, He will reward you in your bad behavior.” 

They do not understand the concept of repentance, turning from our wickedness to righteousness.

Don’t expect to hear the Lords voice when you are not living a righteous, holy life.  “Be ye holy as He is holy.” 

The Lord can and will forgive the worst of offenses, when we turn to Him.

Acknowledge His Majesty, Worship Him in Spirit and Truth, Walk in the light, power and the love of the Lord.

” all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the Lord.”

In obedience to the Lord, the Lord will lift you higher:

” That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.”

Lord, help us to Walk in You. Tô love and obey.  ” the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.”  Lord, help us to hear, to see and understand Your  calling on our lives.

Matthew 11:29-30
” Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

When we learn to take up His yoke, it will be impossible to be behind or ahead of Him.  We have to Walk beside Him, where He would have us go.

We would be touching the lives as He wills.  If we become proficient in understanding His will, we would Walk in the Power of His Love.

We would learn to Walk in the Spirit, we would find ourselves in the Holy of Holies as the Lord uses us to complete His will.

His yoke is easy, burden light, we find rest unto our souls.  How often are we restless, nervous uptight, worried, concerned.

Learn to rest in Him, ask Him to give you a heart after His, to make you into a vessel He can use.  Mold and make us Lord, guide and direct us, protect us from ourselves and the evil one.

Fastband pray, push yourself into the Holy of Holies, receive the Anointing because of your persistence.

He will not give a stone, when we ask and need wheat.
Every good gift comes down from the Lord above.
Ask and you shall receive.   The Lord wants you beside Him, Walking with Him, doing snd seeing His Grace and Mercy,  Power and Might.

Only believe.

Is the Holy Spirit :
*  Guiding you?
*  Directing you?
*  Walking with you?
How can you tell?  Do you recognize His voice?
Abram was told by  the  Lord to: “Walk before me and be ye perfect.”

Moses: “Walked in the Ways of The Lord.
David:  ” walked before me.”

We have quite a bit of information of Davids walk:

” David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:”

“the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.”

” if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, ”

” the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, ”

” he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.”

David was a man after Gods own heart, yet he walked before, or in uprightness and integrity of heart to do all The Lord commanded.

We have a different calling:

” walk in the steps of  faith, walk in newness of life, Walk in the Spirit, walk in love, Walk in wisdom, walk in the light, walk in truth.

This is our New Testament  calling.  We are no longer walking before or in the ways of.

We are now called to:

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Have you learned to walk in His yoke?  That means to walk with Him like Enoch,  Noah,  Levi…not before, in the ways of, but beside, in harmony with, in rest.

In the peace that passes understanding, in joy unspeakable and full of glory.  In the Power of the Holy Spirit, healing all that are afflicted.  Causing the blind to see, the lame to walk, the deaf to hear.

Comforting the brokenhearted.

Is the Holy Spirit :
    *  A figment of our imagination?
    *  A fairytale?
    *  A promise not yet received?
A vibrant, living center of you?  The Holy Spirit is here, available now, He is at hand, to comfort, lead, guide, direct, teach, empower, heal, raise the dead, give sight to the blind, make the lame walk, the deaf hear, proclaim the year of the Lord.

Do you see His hand in your life?  Church?  Fellowship?

The Apostles did.  Why?  They knew the Old Testament and realized exactly what the Lord had delivered them from.  Sin and Death,  Sacrifice and Mourning,  Rituals and False Religion.

Today some of us feel if we are saved we can’t sin.   Wrong

Some of us feel we aren’t worthy to do his work.  Wrong

We don’t need His Baptism of the Holy Spirit, because we have His Spirit because we’re Saved.   Wrongheaded.

We shouldn’t desire Spiritual Gifts.    Wrong….”Desire Spiritual Gifts,  Desire the best Spiritual Gifts.”

We aren’t worthy, trustworthy, faithful, prayerful, humble, teachable, moldable, flexible, holy……

Herein lies the problem.

We really have not learned to walk in the Spirit.   At least I  have not learned to be immediately available and obedient.   When my sister-in-law was in the hospital in pain, the nurses asked us to leave the room, so they could do their thing.  I  believe the Lord wanted me to annoint her with oil and pray right then.

I prayed outside her room for a half-hour before I had a piece.   Another half hour went by before we could go back in the room….she was still in pain,  I finally annointed her with oil and prayed some more.

A half hour later the nurses finally did what was needed to relieve her.  If I had been immediately obedient instead of holding back (fear of ?).  I believe she would’ve suffered for a much shorter time.

I don’t believe the Lord is upset because of my hesitation, maybe disappointed.   He understands the learning curve we must complete.  He wasn’t mad at Gideon, He just walked him through.

I get a kick out of the story of Abram,   in Genesis 12 it says:  ” Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, ”

To me this means. It was said more than once.  If our hearts are turned toward the Lord, He will walk us through the  learning curve, as He did for Abram,  Abram walked before the Lord for 24 years, he believed Gods promise and was counted as Righteous.

We must walk with the Spirit all the way along the learning curve, untill we understand His guidince, obey His directions, see His Power and Love in action.

Do you believe?  Will you step out in Faith?  Pray for the sick? Believe the Word?

Is the Holy Spirit? – 5 – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

It is my firm belief, that we can track all the Gifts of the Spirit,  through the Old Testament.  Except Tongues and Interpretation of Tongues.

The Gifts of Healing,  Working of Miracles,  Discerning of Spirits, Prophesy are all quite easily found.  When we get to Tongues and Interpretation of same, I come up a little short.

We find Tongues easy enough at the building of the Tower of Babel:

Not a tower but a piano took imagination, unity and teamwork to build.

“The Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of
men builded.  And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.  So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.”

So we see the Lord used Tongues to scatter the people, because He understood the Power of Unity, teamwork and imagination.

We find Tongues and the Interpretation of Tongues on the Day of Pentecost,  to draw all to Him, into one Powerful, United body.  Able to Imagine and accomplish anything.

It took a little over 100 years for man to screw it up and loose it.  As in Joshua’s time, Israel followed the Lord as long as some were alive who had seen the signs, wonders and miracles of the Exodus.

Once all had died that had received the original Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the will and knowledge to press on to the high calling dimmed.

It was not Gods will that, the signs, wonders and miracles stopped.  But mans ability to be led astray.

Father God, pkease lead us back to the straight and narrow,  the place of Power and Might,  the Holy of Holies.

Is the Holy Spirit? -4- The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Now I know some of you are thinking that we can’t just find examples of the New Testament Gifts of the Spirit in the Old Testament.   Really?   Am I  sure, a Word of Knowledge is telling us  a thing and a Word of Wisdom is what to do with that knowledge?   Or is a Word of Wisdom telling us a specific thing and a Word of Knowledge how to us it?  Nope, not positive whitch is whitch but one is one and the other is the other, not sure which label to put on either. They are both there for our education.

If we don’t learn from the Old Testament than, where did the writer of Hebrews get his explanation of Faith?   What is Faith if not a Gift of the Spirit?  (Hint: OT)

What is your measure of Faith?   We all have a measure.  Hebrews 11 tells us:

” Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

                (You would really need Faith  to launch out into the deep with this crew)

I have never understood what this means.  To me the best definition of Faith is in the life of Enoch.

“ By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Believe God is and a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

We see examples of this in Ables sacrifice,  Enochs walk, Noah in building the Ark, Abram, leaving at hearing the Lord, later believing he would become a Father of many nations.

So how about you?  Do you know how to hear and act at the prompt of the Spirit?   What does your faith look like?

It is interesting to note some ages also.  Enoch, 65 – Abram, 75 – becomes Abraham, 99 – Moses led people out of Egypt at 80.

Quit blaming your youth and inexperience, or your age and health…..if you make yourself available and believe God is and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.  The Lord has a job for you.  You could be the much needed leader for today.

Lord, help us to grab a hold of Your Word, make it come alive help us to understand the Gifts of the Spirit and how to allow them to be powerful in Your Church.

Is the Holy Spirit
     *  Alive in your heart?
     *  Alive in your Church?
     *  Healing the Sick?
     *  Making the blind to see, the lame to walk, the deaf to hear?

I believe if we do not see theses signs wonders and miracles, the Lord is disappointed.  

He said in John 14:12-18
” Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.  If ye love me, keep my commandments.   And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

Was Jesus telling tales?

No, we are a people who have failed to recognize and employ the Talents our Master left for us.  Some of us have even buried the Talents and claim they are not for today.  It’s like the experation date has passed.

Matthew 25 is a chapter about the Holy Spirit:
Wise and foolish virgins:  Oil for there lamps.
Those who had no oil are like the Church today…No Spiritual power,  because we don’t  really believe.   We want to, even pray to, but don’t  know how to fill our lamps.

The Master and the talents :
Jesus told the story using money  for the simplicity of understanding.

Everone knows some who invest, and others, that hoard.  The ones who invested were blesed the ones that hid the talent were sent to outer darkness.

The sheep and goats.
The sheep understood the Commandment to Love one another…they fed the hungry,  gave clothes to the needy, water to the thirsty.

So how do we fill our lamps, invest out Talents, Love one another?

It is all as plain on the nose on our face.  It is Revelation Knowledge. ..will you see and believe  or hide in your bed?

Watch this space….The Holy Spirit is alive and begging to to allowed to proclaim the good news.

Lord, open our hearts and minds to see, to act, to glorify  Jesus.

All through the Bible the Lord has been trying to make us realize one simple thing.  HE WANTS A PERSONAL, RELATIONSHIP with Each One Of Us.

Religion, is sometimes a problem,  look at  Paul:

” Galatians 1:13-14

For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.”

Paul was Zealously serving God as a Pharisee, exterminating Deciples of our Lord.  Until the Lord struck him down, blinded to get his attention.

Zeal is what we need but it must be Godly Zeal, Phinious killed sinners, his zeal rewarded, Paul killing Saints, he needed direction.

For today we need Relationship,  James explains Religion :
James 1:25-27

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

Please quit talking about your “Religion ”  I ‘m a Baptist, I ‘m a Methodist,  Catholic, Presbyterian. …No you are not.   If you are a true follower of Christ, you must put the Word of God above your Church Doctrine.

You need to be a Desiple. Stufy to
show yourself aproved.  Present yout bodies a living Sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God.  This is our reasonable service.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

We don’t need programs to teach us how to share the Word.  We need the Holy Spirit to be allowed to work through us.  We cannot change people, make people love and serve the Lord.  Let the Spirit lead us to share the love of the Lord.

Father God, please help us to let Your Spirit flow.

every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

In the book of Judges we read our story.   ” Every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”

Everyone does what thay want, it is all good, all normal, all excepted in the eyes of man.  Men with men, women with women,  Man is women. …

We have even gone so far as to find a man of God to Bless our folly:

” Now know I that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.”

We can always find someone to validate our behavior.   They can even claim to have the mind of God in the matter.   Watch out, that boat won’t float.

” Go in peace: before the Lord is your way wherein ye go.”

When the man you are following, is not a man of God, do not expect the Lord to give you the victory in whatever you plan or attempt.  

Many will die thinking they have won doing as they please.  More toys, money, fame.  Image the disappointment,  when they hear:

” depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

When we should have been ourselves saying :

“Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.”

” How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him:”

God is looking for Love.

There are 3 kinds of Love:  Agape :  This is Gods love for us. A love like I have for my child and you for your children. You would jump in front of a train to save their life. “No greater love is there, than a man giving his life for another.”

Then there is Phillio love : or brotherly love, a love we have for those we care for, brotherly love.

Eros love:  Lust, our favorite, which eventually wares off and we end up with devorce.

Gods love is such that He kept trying to find a people who would love and obey Him.

Many years later, we find Abram,  who becomes Abraham because he believed the promise of God,  At 100 years old he would Father many nations.

He did and the Old Testament is full of the stories of the Hebrews  or Jews, The Lords chosen people.   They loved the Lord, fell into sin, began to be enslaved by this sin. Cried out to the Lord.

The Lord forgives them and sends Moses, Joshua then Judges to save them: Best known are Gideon,  Samson  and 10 others, this goes on for hundreds of years.  Love God, fall away, troubles, cry out to God, God saves, Love God….repeat …….again and again.

Then the people want to be like all the other Nations and have a king.  Saul, David (a man after Gods own heart), a sinner who knew how to repent.  Solomon  and many more, love God, fall away, (repeat over and over) untill He sent His Son.

God had created man to walk with,  have fellowship with.  They had only one rule.  Don’t eat the fruit of a certain tree.  They broke the rule.

Adam had disappointed God because of His disobedience.  Many years pass, people are multiplying on earth and God finally finds what He is looking for.

And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

Genesis 5:21-24

“And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:” (who lived 900+ years)
“And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:  And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years.  And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

All we know of Enoch we find in Hebrews 11 and Jude.

Hebrews 11:4-5
“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Jude 1:23-24
“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,  To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

Enoch  pleased God, walked  with God, believed that God is and  that God rewards those who are diligent in seeking Him.

In Jude we learn of the Lords second comming and judgment.

To me Enoch is one of the most interesting Bible figures….to please God and to walk right up to heaven.  He is alive in heaven with God today.

Here we have one who walked with God.  Many years pass, man becomes vial, sexual sin, greed, murder, the Lord desides to destroy the earth.  Yet again,  one man stands out:

“And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:  And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.  And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.”

Genesis 6:7-9
“And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”

Noah built the Ark and his family  repopulated the earth.  God was still seeking a people who would walk with Him.  To  truly,  love trust and depend on Him.

This new group of folks were not any better then the last group.

The early followers  of Jesus were only called Christians, in derision by the heathens.

They were called by Jesus, Desiples.

A Desiple is someone who studies Gods Word and attempts to follow His precepts, a person who comes to a love relationship with Jesus.

Who have one thing they absolutely   know:  GOD IS LOVE.

To explain this love it is really best to go back to creation.  To put it simply God made man in His image to have some sort of relationship.   He would walk in the garden in the cool of the day,with Adam and Eve.

I know you have heard this but I feel I must elaborate.  At that time thete was no death, no work, no pain, just fellowship with God.

Man could do anything and eat anything  except the fruit of the tree of knowledge.   They knew no sin, shame or guilt until they ate of tree of knowledge of good and evil.

At that point death came into the world.  For that one little, stupid act.

 Disobedience of God.  Now people lived almost a thousand years before physical death but Spiritual death was immediate.   No more relationship with God.

God didn’t give up.

Why was man created?  How do we explain Gods love for us?  How do we make people understand Gods plan of Salvation and love?

I  have been asking this question to myself for years.  I have seen many ministries try to teach people how to lead folks to the Lord.  The Roman Road…is one I’ve got on this sight under the “Salvation Way”.

Unless people are halfway to belief, this is really useless.   What’s wrong with my life?  Who are you to say I’m a sinner?  Who made you God?

If they don’t know why man was created, I believe they will have a hard time accepting our “Judgement ” of their lives.

So, why did God create man?

I believe the answer is:  To walk with Him, in the cool of the day.  God simply wanted a people with a Freewill to choose to Love, Honer and Obey Him.  Adam failed.

Enoch chose the way we need to follow.  “Enoch walked with God and was not, because God took him.”

The thing The Lord requires of us is to learn to Love, Honer and Obey, to walk with Him.
