Heal the sick that are there: theunfetteredpreacher.com

And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. (Luke 10:9)

The Tenth chapter of Luke is a field ripe for the Harvest. (The home of many a message).

First seventy are sent out 2 by 2, they were told to take nothing with them. They were to stay where their peace remained, to be fed and cared for by those who recieved the Word of God, And they were to ‘heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

They returned with Joy, saying, ‘even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Jesus replied: I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.‘ (Luke 10)

If the sick are not healed, is the Kingdom of God not nigh?

And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.‘ ‘And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. (Luke 9:2,11)

Healing is tied to the ‘Preaching of the Kingdom of God.’ Jesus often said: “ONLY BELIEVE” When people heard that Jesus was there, they followed.

Do we Believe?

Here I am, wondering far afield of my desired message. Luke 10, goes on to tell us about the Good Samaritan, and Martha and Mary, who chose to sit at His feet.

While I sat at His feet, I realized the Angels, preceded us in the realm of Freewill.

I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.” (Luke 10:18) Why did Satan and his angels fall from heaven?

Isaiah 14:12-15

‘How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.’

Pride, the original sin, ‘I will be like God.’ Satan used it against Eve. (Genesis 3:5-6)

Satan is the God of this world, and his angels his messengers, who kill, steal and destroy. (John 10:10) They are the ones who tempt us, draw us away from the Lord. They invade our minds and spirits, we become sick, die spiritualy, can be possesed by these wicked spirits.

Jesus gives us a way to escape. ‘Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee.’ (James 4:7)

He may turn us over to the devil, that we might be saved. (1 Corinthians 5:5)

‘To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” (Fornicators)

Satan and his messengers only have the power to hurt us, if we don’t call on and trust in the Lord.

Why Angels: theunfetteredpreacher.com

The folks in my little Bible Study are not real excited to learn about Angels. Please realize I am not teaching the worship of Angels, just an understanding.

I believe, we must study beyond our Denominations teachings. Like Jefferson, we have our own Bible, that which we believe and accept, and that, that we reject. (God doesn’t do that, or speak to us anymore).

If Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, (Hebrews 13:8), then the promises in the Word are for us today. Healings, signs and wonders, miracles, and power over unclean spirits.

We need to recognize the workings of the Lord, God and the Spirit, The Trinity is one, yet individuals.

In our lives, some of us are strick, followers of the rules and regulations of man. Others are more forgiving of our failures and mistakes. Some recognize and accept that the Spiritual is bigger than what concerns us today.

I want to Know God. Love God. Follow and Trust God. To Understand His Will and Ways. To put on His Yoke and Walk with Him.

Sins Promise: theunfetteredpreacher.com

The Promise Verses the Reality:

As a Christian, what is sin?

The book of Hebrews, tells us, it is, ‘an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. (Hebrews 3:12) Not believing the Word, the Promise of God, whether it is about entering into the Promised Land, or believing we can live a life, pleasing to the Lord, is sin.

Abrahan believed God, and it was counted as righteousness. (Romans 4:3)

The Lord told Cain, if you do not, do well, sin lies at the door, and desires to control you, you must resist, it’s power. (Genesis 4:7) Jesus told Peter, satan desires to sift you like wheat. (Luke 22:31) James tells us, (James 1:14) ‘But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.’

That lust, can be for Power, Money, or Sex, or the jealousy of what someone else has that we lack. Whether Talent, Skill, Charisma, Wardrobes, Looks, or Personalities. Others often, seem to have a better life then ours.

We need to be satisfied either in want or in plenty. (Philippians 4:11-12) We need to learn to forget that whitch is behnd, and reach for what is before, pressing towards the prize of the calling of Christ, for our lives (Philippians 3:12-14)

In truth, we can see sins results in nature.

This stump, was once a strong platform for the anvil, carpenter bees made their home within, like sin in our lives it destroys.

Sin weakens us, hollows us out, we no longer are strait and true. We become unable to be a profitable witness for the Lord. People do not recognize Him within us. Sin, when finished, brings death. (James 1:15)

We need to submit to God and resist the devil. (James 4:7)

We are blessed: theunfetteredpreacher

Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:”

We are blessed of God. Spiritually, Physically and Mentally.

I have spent far too long, trying to think of something witty to say, when all I want to say is thank you, Bruce and Chris.

It was nice to connect with you after all these years. It was a blessing for us to see you, and to spend time, remembering our youth and sharing our love of the Lord.

Our prayers are with you and your family. May the Lord of love, continue to lead, guide and bless you on your way.

You have blessed us mightily.

Thanks for the card and beautiful arrangement. I know your Texas family is thrilled that you are there.

The Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory: theunfetteredpreacher

1 Peter 1:7-9

“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

Trials, Tribulation, Divorce, Sickness, the loss of a job, or worse, losing a loved one, even the breakup of a friendship. All of these things can drop us into a state of depression,

We must make a choice, wallow in it, or rise above it. One is easy, giving up. The other takes an inner stregth, a determination, to put it behind us and move forward.

We all deal with troubles in our own way. Often, we cry out ‘Why Lord?’

Don’t expect an answer in the clouds, or thunder and lightning, Most often our answer will come as a peace that passeth understanding. (Phillipines 4:7)

Sometimes it is a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:12)

If we allow these troubles to draw us closer to, and not away from, our loving God, we will be purifided, made holy and acceptable. We prove to ourselves that we truly love and honor, God’s will and ways, for our life. We receive ‘Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory.’

Our Salvation will be secure, in the knowledge of His Word.

I get so excited when I recognize something in the Word, that I have seen hundreds of times, yet never received His revelation until that moment. When I was younger in the Lord, I would stop and think Wow. Then continue reading.

Now… I stop, consider, understand, and believe, then look for other verses that either confirm or reject that revelation, I pray about it, then start to share it. Gerald Derstine, used to tell us. ‘You don’t know what you know, until you share what you know.’

Since the Lord hasn’t granted me the opportunity to Preach, I teach and share in this blog. I pray my stumbling and mumblings, in some way, encourage you to study the Word daily, to see if these things are true.

Cherubims 2: theunfetteredpreacher

In this post I want to focus on the work of the Cherubim and Saraphim.

Cherubs first and foremost duty is to protect the Tree of Life. (Genesis 3:24), Jesus, the Creator and Supreme Ruler of all. God, who gave Himself to be a Sacrifice, so you and I could find Mercy and Grace in our times of need. (Salvation)

We find this service preformed by Peter in the Garden, as he cut off Malchus’s ear, when they arrested Jesus. (John 18:10)

When Moses was charged with building a Tabernacle, ( Exodus 25), a home, for the Lord, he was instructed to build and Ark with a Mercy Seat. It would hold Arrons rod that buds, a jar of Manna, and the Ten Commandments.

Exodus 25:17-22

And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.

And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.
And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.
And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.
And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

Even here in the Lord’s home, he would speak to Moses and the High Priest, from between the Cherubim.

The curtains that housed, enclosed, the Ark were all decorated with Cherubim. (I find this almost an invitation to worship the Angels, as they did the serpent on a pole. ???) (Exodus 26:1; Numbers 21:9; 2 Kings 18:4).

I believe the Cherubim are there today, (Psalm 91; Matthew 4), to protect our Lord, and are privy to our prayers and desires.

The Saraphim are closely related to the Cherubim but have a completely different purpose.

The Cherubim protect our Lord Jesus, the Saraphim stand in the presence of the Jehovah. Isaiah 6:1-3,6-8

“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. “

The Saraphim are there to Worship God, to proclaim His Holiness, also to confirm the change in our lives Salvation brings. Our speach, and our purpose changed with Salvation. We should live To Serve Him.

” HERE AM I; SEND ME. ”

How about you? Are you prepared to serve?

They’re not babies with wings: theunfetteredpreacher

Cherubims, Angels, Messengers of the Almighty. We can find images of Cherubs, and they are sooo cute.

We even think of Cupid, as a kind of Cherub. This is not Biblical. The first mention of Angels is in Genesis 3:24. The description does not sound all cute and cuddly to me. This is probably a more accurate picture.

So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

This still may not be a valid image. Ezekiel 1:1,4-12, describes the vision he had of God.

“The heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.”

“I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.”

Bible History

Cherubim (which is the plural of cherub) were celestial angelic beings in the spiritual realm.

They are always associated with the holiness of God. When Adam sinned cherubim were stationed at the entrance to the Garden of Eden to guard the way to the Tree of Life. They represent the righteous government of God, and are the executers of God’s righteous and holy judgment. The Cherubim are revealed by Ezekiel in chapter 1:5-10 as four living creatures, each one having 4 different faces, the face of a man, lion, ox, and eagle.

The Cherubim

Painting of the Cherubim with the four faces.

We should also know about Seraphim, Isaiah 6:1-8. Uzziahs vision of the Lord.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

This is not very accurate.

” Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. “

It is impossible for man to explain the wonders of God, the Lord or heaven. Even John in Revelation, in the Spirit, on the Lord’s day.

Painted word pictures, that have veried interpretations.

It was revealed unto him: theunfetteredpreacher

Luke 2:25-26

“And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.”

Has the Holy Ghost revealed anything to you? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If so, the Holy Spirit drew you to this decision.

If it wasn’t for the Spirit, I doubt anyone would be saved. We, as Natural men, do not have the ears to hear, the eyes to see, or the hearts to receive the truth of Salvation.

We need not be devout, or just, to receive Salvation. We only need to Believe and Confess, Jesus, as Lord. So what happens after we Believe? We need to destroy, the Giants in our lives, the sin that so easily besets us, and the things that draw us away from, instead of leading us to, the Lord.

If we allow these Giants, to stay in our lives, they will cause us to stumble, and our Faith to grow cold. There will be no Power in our Church, our Witness will sadly, be hampered. People will see no reason, to fallow us in our Faith.

We must become just, Micah 6: 8.

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

We must learn to value the poor as well as the rich. We all need the Gospel shown and lived before us. We need to deal honestly, humbly, and mercifully, as we desire others to deal with us.

Devoution ? What does that mean to be devout? Some would say to be committed to our Church, to Tithe, Attend Services, Teach, or Sing in the Choir.

I believe it is more in line with Deuteronomy 28:1-2.

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”

To harken diligently, To listen intently, thoughtfully, inteligently, to be diligent in our search of the Scriptures. To turn our face like a flint to the Lord. (Isaiah 50:7)

We need to allow the Holy Spirit to dwell within, and to direct our paths in the ways, of the Lord. As we Walk in His Ways, and desire to know Him more, the Holy Spirit will reveal Himself to us.

Sometimes He uses people, Preachers, Teachers, even children, or if need be, even Angels. The Lord still desires to walk with us in the cool of the day, as He did with Adam. He never gives up, in His quest to draw us close to Him.

He desires to give us the desires of our hearts. (Psalms 37:4) We need to learn to delight ourselves in Him. If we do, He will Bless us beyond or wildest dream. (James 5:16)

Angels in the life of Samson: theunfetteredpreacher

Angels in the life of Samson: There weren’t any, they appeared only to his parents, giving them the information that Manoah, and his wife, (no name), who was barren would have a son. He was an Angel of the Lord, who the wife idendified as a Man of God.

Manoah, prayed to God and asked for the return of the Man of God. God sent His Angel back, it seems that the Angel of God and Angel of the Lord are interchangeable in this instance.

In any case the Message was the same. They were to raise him as a Nazarite, no wine, or strong drink, His hair shall never be cut, and he would deliver Israel. (They had fallen once more from God).

They detained this Angel so they could offer a sacrifice. The Angel would stay, but the offering had to be to the Lord, not to him. When the sacrifice burned the Angel disappeared to heaven. The Angel of the Lord never returned.

Samson himself was anointed and guided through life by the Spirit of the Lord. His whole story is in Judges 13-16. Where at the end Samson called upon the Lord.

Judges 16:28-30

And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.”

The Invasion of the Sisters 2: theunfetteredpreacher

Since the discovery of Bette’s bone cancer, (at the end of June, 2018), we have been surrounded with abundant love and support from her family. Her NC sister, Donna, has spent more time taking care of us, then at home, with her own family.

Her sister Eunice and husband Roger, drove from MN. to care for us as I was recuperating, from both, the hospital and rehab, and Bette was Starting Chemo. I do not know how we could of managed without them.

Eunice flew back with sister Mavis to be here for another extended stay, and they made sure both Bette and I were experiencing God’s love and care.

Her sister Janet from MN, and her daughter, from Colorado, Karmen, (and her husband Pete, and young boys, Conner and Colin), came to help and support us also.

They must have cleaned, sorted and organized every closet and cubby hole in the house. The food they cooked was wonderful, they filled our home with prayers and joy unspeakable and full of Glory.

In January , we look forward to Corrine and Roger coming for an extended stay. Bette’s family, all know and love the Lord. They are blessings that cannot be counted.

The start of the Journey. The Sisters of God’s Love and Care.

The Devine Messengers of Judges: theunfetteredpreacher

The Devine Messengers, (Angels), of the Book of Judges, has caused me to really search my heart and the Word to try to understand what and how the God Head was directing the path of the men and women (the Judges), who were raised up to lead Israel to victory over its enimies.

The Messengers, often proclaimed things to come, and reminded of things achieved in the past. The Lord or God often sends His Angels to further His cause.

The first verse that mentions Angels in Judges concerns the the Exodus from Egypt, and the end of Joshua’s leadership of same. The Angel of God, went before to lead and also behind to protect their departure from Egypt. (Exodus 14:19)

Judges 2:1
And an angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

The second mention of Angels Judges 2:2-5, records how the people disobeyed the directions of the Lord. Since they did not defeat and destroy the inhabitants of the promised land, the Lord would allow them to be a thorn in their sides, their gods and altars a snare to their relationship with God.

Judges 2:4
And it came to pass, when the angel of the Lord spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

This applies to us to day.

The Angel of God leads us to Him and protect us from the works of the devil. When we do not destroy and defeat the things that drew us to disobedience before Salvation, they will continue to be a recurring thorn and snare in our walk with the Lord.

If we obey the Angel of the Lords directions, He, will be an enemy to our enemies and an adversary to our adversaries. If we disobey or provoke Him, we will not receive pardon. (Exodus 23)

The Angel of the Lord, will not pardon, because he carries the Name of the Lord. It is interesting to note in Genesis 48:16, the Angel of God, was instrumental in Redeeming Israel. (Jacob) (One Angel redeems, the other will not pardon).

In the life and times of Debra Judges 4-5, we find the Angel of the Lord cursing the people of Meroz, for not coming to the Aid of the Lord to defeat Sisera. God used both Debra and Jael for his defeat. The Lord used woman to bring victory to Israel. (Judges 5:23)

It is in the life of Gideon that caused the most problems for my human mind. We find the Angel of the Lord, first found Gideon hiding at the wine press threshing wheat, to hide it from the Midianites. The Angel of the Lord, calls Gidean a mighty man of valour. (Judges 6:11-12)

Gideon protested this honor, they were in fear and hiding trying to survive the invasion of the Midianites. The Lord Himself spoke through this Angel, and Gidean decided to offer a gift to Him. He begged Him to stay till he returned with this offering. then we have the one mention of the Angel of God.

Judges 6:20-22
“And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.

Then the angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.

And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the Lord, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord God! for because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face.”

it is interesting to me that the Angel of God told him how to give the Gift, and the Angel of the Lord caused the Gift and Himself to dissappear.

We next look at the life of Samson in Judges 13.

The Devine Messengers: theunfetteredpreacher

The Devine Messengers, the Angels of the Bible. From comforting Hagar, Sarai’s maid, the Mother of Ishmael. (Genesis 16) That her child would be a great leader, and she should return to Sarai. To the Angels that led Lot and his family to safety from Sodom. (Genesis 19)

Sarai saw another Angel, 13 years after the first. This time she was again told her son would be a great Nation, and God was with the lad in the Wilderness.

Angels have interacted with humans from Genesis to Revelation. There have been many studies, papers and books written, and messages preached.

So why one more? I have no clue.

I just know that the Lord is expanding my search, to understand Him, and His desires for my life. I find life in His Word as I seek His face.

We can go along for years in the knowledge we have, we have written and accepted our own, personal Bible. We know what we know, and do not want to be made to question, that which we know.

It is almost criminal, that we reject what the Bible says, if it disagrees what we already believe or have been taught.

I remember one teacher while in Bible School, who would often remind us, the Bible reads differently when we remove our Denominational glasses.

Saints, I beseech you, (as Paul would say), to renew your mind, (Romans 12), to be transformed by the washing of the water by the Word. (Ephesians 5)

We will not grow closer to or be more like Christ, if we ignore the study of the Word. The Power is in His Word, not ours. We must learn for ourselves, what it says and means.

Separation Anxiety: theunfetteredpreacher

I am experiencing Separation Anxiety. lol, Not really, (I am not pining for anything or anyone).

The truth is, I am not at all anxious… Just frustrated. (lol), My efforts to explain, excite, and cause people to search the Word, and draw closer to God, seem to be in vain.

I am attempting, to light a fire, with wet wood. (Christians do not realize, we need to continuely reread the Word), and our understandingknowledge grows as we study), only then will we receive His Revelation.

My attempts to generate interest, hasn’t caused them light up with excitement.

The longer I study the Word, the stronger my belief, that we can recognize, separate and understand, which member of the Trinity is directing our path.

Usually, those I share with, shrug their shoulders and ask, ‘Why should we care?’ My answer?

Do you desire to serve God? Do you know what His good, acceptable, and perfect will is, for your life?

Some, are destined to be Preachers of Righteousness. Others Prayer Warriors, (fighting the Spiritual Battles), still others are engaged in Physical War, (battles, for thesure hearts and minds of others).

The Ministry Gifts are many and varried. From Giving to Serving, Administration and Operations. Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding. The Lord also promised, Miracles, Healing, and Prophecy. All the Gifts are needed, for a growing vibrant Church.

If we take the time to recognize which member of the Trinity is directing our paths, we begin to understand the struggles, persecution, and fears we may encounter.

Do you wonder why sometimes the Lord God speaks, with one voice? Or we find God, or the Lord both speaking, almost the same message, but one adds more information than the other.

Why we read of the Spirit, and or, the Angel of God, or of the Lord? I am sure, we can better understand the ways and will of God for our lives, if we seek Him with all our heart, mind and strength.

Angels in Numbers: theunfetteredpreacher

There are eleven verses about Angels in the book of Numbers. Ten of those verses are in the story of Balaam. The eleventh is the first one and is in Numbers 20:16.

“And when we cried unto the Lord, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:”

This verse is a retelling of Exodus 14:19-20, where an Angel of God, went before to lead and went behind to protect the Hebrews from the Egyptians. Apparently the Lord sent an Angel of God,

Now Balaam, and the talking donkey: Balak the King of the Moabs, sent men to Balaam, to ask him to curse the Hebrews. God came to Balaam to guide him in the way he should go. Please read chapter 22.

God sent the Angel of the Lord, to deal with Balaams disobedience.

Numbers 22:22-27

“And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the Lord stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way. But the angel of the Lord stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side. And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again. And the angel of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.”

The Lord then opened Balaams eyes.

Numbers 22:31-35

“Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face. And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me: And Balaam said unto the angel of the Lord, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. And the angel of the Lord said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.”

To me it is interesting, that the Angel of God, seems to lead and protect, while the Angel of the Lord seems ready to do Battle, to honor the will and ways of the God head.

The Angels of Exodus: theunfetteredpreacher

The Angels of Exodus:

There are five verses in Exodus that mention Angels. Four of them mention the Angel of the Lord. First appearing to Moses as a burning bush that was not consumed. (Exodus 3:2)

Exodus 3:2

“And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.”

We than have the only mention of the Angel of God, who will go before and protect them as they leave Egypt.

Exodus 14:19

“And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:”

The next two mentions, the Lord is giving them instuctions, and His Angel will be before them, to keep them, and bring them to His desired place. They also receive a warning not to provoke His Angel.

Exodus 23:20-22

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.”

The Angel of the Lord, will not pardon them. It is interesting to note in Genesis 48:16, the Angel of God, was instrumental in Redeeming Israel. (Jacob)

Exodus 23:23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

The Lord will cut off their enemies, will bring them to the Promise. After finding the Golden calf, He still promised to/ bring them to the promise, but their sin will be payed for eventually.

Exodus 32:34

“Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.”

The Angels of Genesis: theunfetteredpreacher

In my studies I have come to conclude, that the Lord God, of the OT, is not the first and last name of One Member of the Trinity, but the Name of Two.

The Lord is the Law Giver, in the OT. In the NT, the Father, and the Administer, (Designer, Planner), of all Creation. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

God in the OT, is the Creator and Ruler of all. (Genesis 1:1-2) The Son (Jesus), in the NT, (John 1:1-3,10) and the Operations Manager, (the one overseeing, speaking into existence), all of Creation. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

The Spirit in both the OT and NT, is the breath or wind of God. It is the Manifestation of the Power of the Trinity. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

We see and understand this difference of the Nature’s of the Trinity, primarily in the Words of the Lord or of God. Sometimes they speak in one voice, and often individually . The Lord appears to be the Law Giver, God the Grace, (the way of escape).

We also see the divisions, when we look at their Spirits.

The Spirit of God, is a Spirit of Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding to build His Church, (People). (Exodus 31:3) The Spirit of the Lord is a Spirit of Warfare, Battle, and Victory, to preserve His Church, (People). (Judges 3:10)

As I now begin to study the Angels of the Lord and Angels of God, I again can see them Working as one, and also as individuals). For example; Gabriel is an Angel of God. (Luke 1:19,26) While Michael is an Angel of the Lord. (Matthew 1:20,24) They both announced the Birth of Jesus, and John the Baptist, one to the Mothers and the other to the Fathers. We can also see, their uniqueness.

In Genesis 16, we find an Angel mentioned four times. Sarai was barren and had given Abram, Hagar, her maid, in the hopes of having a child. When Hagar became pregnant, Sarai was jealous and treated her badly, and Hagar ran away.

The Angel of the Lord found her. (Genesis 16:7) Hagar was told to return to and submit to Sarai. The Lord would multiply her seed, her son would be called Ishmael; because the Lord heard her affliction. (Genesis 16:9-11),

In Genesis 19, we have two Angels sent to Sodom to save the Righteous, (Lot), from destruction, the Angels took Lot, his wife and daughters and led them to safety. His son-in-laws did not heed the Angels and parished. (Genesis 19:1-15)

In Genesis 21:17, we find Hagar once again, this time Abraham had sent her and Ishmael away. God heard the voice of Ishmael, (13 years old?), the Angel of God, showed her a fountain of water, and told her Ishmael, would become a great Nation.

In chapter 22, we find God, tempting, (testing), Abraham, to see if he would give up his only son. The Angel of the Lord, stopped him and supplied a ram for the sacrifice.

In Genesis 24, the Angel of the Lord, is sent before Abraham’s servant to find a wife for Isaac.

In Genesis 28-32, we begin the Spiritual journey of Jacob. He interacts with the Angels of God. His name is changed to Israel.

Genesis 48:16 Israel, blessing the children of Joseph, referenced the Angel of God, and his redemption.

The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

The Big Three Today: theunfetteredpreacher

The Big Three; The Father, Son and Holy Ghost. For years, I lived, or thought, the Father, (the Law), was only active in the Old Testament, Oh, He Spoke in the NT, but otherwise, He was just an observer.

The Son was an observer just off stage, waiting to reveal Himself at the optimum time. He indeed lived, and died so we could stand before the Father. Now, He’s back to being an observer of the Work of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit was activated after the Resurection. He is the one who draws us to Salvation in the Lord, He gives us the Power to share the Truth of the Gospel, to build the Church of our Lord.

I was mistaken. All Three were, and are active, Yesterday, Today and Forever, I had never considered that the Three have been working together, for ever.

When we speak of one, we are speaking of all three. They act as one, always in agreement, yet we can hear and know their separate voices.

The Lord in the OT, is the Law, the Father in the NT, the Administrater (1 Corinthians 12:4-7), throughout the Bible.

Jesus is our Lord and Savior in the NT, the God of Grace in the OT, the Operations Manager, (1 Corinthians 12:4-7), in the Bible.

The Spirit is the Breath of, the Wind of God, the Power of God, (1 Corinthians 12:4-7), the Word, (Jesus, God), speaks, and the Spirit is the manifestation of the Will and Words of the Father and Son.

As we read in the OT, many times the Lord God, speaks with one voice, if you look at what the ‘Lord said,’ or ‘God said,’ you can see and hear, the Law and Grace.

I desire your feedback, pro or con.

The LORD looked down: theunfetteredpreacher

Psalm 14: 2.

“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.”

He is looking, what does He see?
