Angels in the life of Samson: There weren’t any, they appeared only to his parents, giving them the information that Manoah, and his wife, (no name), who was barren would have a son. He was an Angel of the Lord, who the wife idendified as a Man of God.
Manoah, prayed to God and asked for the return of the Man of God. God sent His Angel back, it seems that the Angel of God and Angel of the Lord are interchangeable in this instance.
In any case the Message was the same. They were to raise him as a Nazarite, no wine, or strong drink, His hair shall never be cut, and he would deliver Israel. (They had fallen once more from God).
They detained this Angel so they could offer a sacrifice. The Angel would stay, but the offering had to be to the Lord, not to him. When the sacrifice burned the Angel disappeared to heaven. The Angel of the Lord never returned.
Samson himself was anointed and guided through life by the Spirit of the Lord. His whole story is in Judges 13-16. Where at the end Samson called upon the Lord.
Judges 16:28-30
“And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.”
