these signs shall follow them that believe; (Really?) 2

Signs that should be following you, me and everyone else who believes that Jesus Christ is Lord:

  • We should cast out devils
  • Lay hands on the sick and they shall recover
  • Speak with new tongues
  • Take up serpents
  • Drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them

Wow, what a list….since I’ve been saved. I speak with new tongues,  I have laid hands on the sick….most have recovered….some have gone on to the Lord.   Continue reading

these signs shall follow (Really? )

There are a lot of promises in the Bible that, as Christians, we want to believe and walk in but it is hard to when we rarely see results.
Here are a few of the troublesome  scriptures:
Mark 16
“these signs shall follow them that believe;
Mark 11
Have faith in God.   For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Luke 8
Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
The common denominator is BELIEVE:
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God,  He died for my sins and rose from the dead to save us.   That is good, it means we are saved but it is not enough.
So what does Jesus say?
Matthew 17:20-21
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.  Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Because of unbelief;   how can this be?  I believe,  help my unbelief.   Confusing isn’t it, if we fast today all we hear is be careful,  drink plenty of water…..you can’t go with out food, it’ll make you sick.
Let me say most of this is good advice.  Does it line up with the word? No.  The scriptures tell us of Moses, at least twice going 40 days without food or water.
Daniels twenty-one day fast.  Jesus,  40 days, also 3 day, 14 day fasts.
How can this be?
Psalm 65:4
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
We are the people God has chosen, He will cause whosoever will to draw near and those who do will be satisfied with Gods goodness.  So we find Gods supply to those who draw close.
I’ve fasted, prayed and I find that alot of things are still impossible for me.  Something is wrong with my belief. ..Gods word is true….why isn’t it working? Does He no longer watch over His Word to proform it?
This series will endeavor to unravel the mysteries.

King Saul and Samson – men of God? Nope

When we think of these two men,  who were used mightily by the Lord.  It is natural to think of them as Godly men.   After all one was the first King of Israel, who led them to many victories   and the other was one of   Israels  most famous Judges, who did many mighty exploits.

They were not Mighty Men of God but men God used mightily.    Let me explain:

Samson s parents were approached by an angel of the Lord,  told though barren, they would have a child.  A Nazarene,  don’t ever cut his hair, eat only special food and drink.   They were obedient,  the child grew, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him and he did mighty exploits.   He delivered Israel from many enemies.

Then we have King Saul,   made the first King of Israel because of his hight and looks.  Anointed of the Lord who made him a new man, while God gave him a new heart.  He led Israel to many victories.

You might ask, why are these not great men of God then?

Neither of these men had a real personal relationship with the Lord and did not realize when the Spirit of the Lord left them.   Their concerns were being dissed and revenge.

When we study the life of David, we find a man after Gods heart.   Who when confronted with his sin,  cried out:  “Take not your Holy Spirit away from me.”

A truly Godly man knows and fears grieving the Spirit.  He is quick to repent and longs for the fellowship of the Lord.

II The True Church

The true Church is first:

◆   Built on the revelation knowledge that Jesus is the only       begotten Son of God, He is alive and well today and sits at the right hand of the Father.

◇   We are saved by His blood and grace

What is the purpose of the Church?

◆  As with the Prophets of old…teach and Continue reading

Christian,  who can you trust?

A nameless Man of God, (MOG), Only mentioned in one chapter of the Bible is our subject today.   He appeared in 1 Kings 13.

God sent him from the tribe of Judah to speak with the King of Israel,  Jeroboam: whose name means “he that opposes the people. ” or one who leads his people to sin. Continue reading

Why do you believe in Salvation?

Romans 10:9

King James Version (KJV)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

This Scripture is the cornerstone of our Salvation. We believe Jesus was a virgin born, God/man, who lived a sinless life.  Died on a cross for our sins, buried and three days later rose from the dead.  Is in heaven now at the right hand of the Father. Through Jesus the Father finds us guiltless and sons of God.

It is no wonder the non-believers think we have a few screws loose.  After all didn’t Paul himself tel Continue reading

6. Concerning Spiritual Gifts

In this section,  I will be giving a lot of scriptures. …
For to one is given by the Spirit discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.

For the best example of discerning of Spirits, we need to look at King Saul. ..

He couldn’t decern but those around him could.

1 Samuel 16:14  King James Version (KJV)
But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.

1 Samuel 16:15  King James Version (KJV)
And Saul’s servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

1 Samuel 19:20. King James Version (KJV)
And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

1 Samuel 28:3. King James Version (KJV)
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him i Continue reading

Parable of the talents

We think of the parable of the talents as being a financial (responsible with God’s money) or physical talent, (play piano, sing for the Lord).  I have come to a radical conclusion.  Continue reading

these signs shall follow them that believe;

In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

5. Concerning Spiritual Gifts.,

brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

For to one is given by the Spirit, prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

prophecy:

13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

The gifts where we speak;  Lord help me are the scariest gifts to work.  Perhaps it is a lack of faith on my part.  I love to preach the Word of God, share the promises o f God but jump out there to say thus says the Lord; interpret tongues.

I just don’t think the Spirit has annointed me in this area.  I am more than confident to proclaim the truth of His written word but the other is a limb that scares me.

Definition of Prophesy and Prophets:

“Prophet

The ordinary Hebrew word for prophet is nabi, derived from a verb signifying “to bubble forth” like a fountain; hence the word means one who announces or pours forth the declarations of God. The English word comes from the Greek p Continue reading

3. Now concerning spiritual gifts

I would not have you ignorant.

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

We are naturally ignorant of other languages, higher math skills, sports or any particular subject,  that doesn’t mean that we are stupid.  All it means is we are not knowledgeable in that area.

After all, we cannot be expected to know what we haven’t experienced or been taught. The Apostle is encouraging us to learn about and walk in the light of the Spirit. Our natu Continue reading

2. Now concerning spiritual gifts

I would not have you ignorant.

There are many things of which most of us are happily ignorant.

For instance how to pilot the USS Ronald Reagan.  Exactly how electricity works.  The reason

1. Now concerning spiritual gifts

I would not have you ignorant.

“Ignorance is bliss”   How often have we heard and at times believed this?    In   truth ignorance robs us of many blessings.

In  1 Corinthians 12,  Paul tells us:

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

Growing up I went religiously to Church and Catechism.    I don’t remember the Gifts of the Spirit being t Continue reading
