Genesis 21:

God Provides for Hagar and Ishmael

21 Yahweh came to help Sarah and did for her what he had promised. 2 So she became pregnant, and at the exact time Elohim had promised, she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. 3 Abraham named his newborn son Isaac. 4 When Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him as Elohim had commanded. 5 Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born.

6 Sarah said, “Elohim has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me. 7 Who would have predicted to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet, I have given him a son in his old age.”

The child grew and was weaned. On the day Isaac was weaned, Abraham held a big feast. 9 Sarah saw that Abraham’s son by Hagar the Egyptian was laughing at Isaac. 10 She said to Abraham, “Get rid of this slave and her son, because this slave’s son must never share the inheritance with my son Isaac.” 11 Abraham was upset by this because of his son Ishmael. 12 But Elohim said to Abraham, “Don’t be upset about the boy and your slave. Listen to what Sarah says because through Isaac your descendants will carry on your name. 13 Besides, I will make the slave’s son into a nation also, because he is your child.”

17 Elohim heard the boy crying, and the Messenger of Elohim called to Hagar from heaven. “What’s the matter, Hagar?” he asked her. “Don’t be afraid! Elohim has heard the boy crying from the bushes. 18 Come on, help the boy up! Take him by the hand, because I’m going to make him into a great nation.”

19 Elohim opened her eyes. Then she saw a well. She filled the container with water and gave the boy a drink.

20 Elohim was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became a skilled archer. 21 He lived in the desert of Paran, and his mother got him a wife from Egypt.

Abraham’s Agreement with Abimelech

22 At that time Abimelech,
accompanied by Phicol, the commander of his army, said to Abraham, “Elohim is with you in everything you do. 23 Now, swear an oath to me here in front of Elohim that you will never cheat me, my children, or my descendants. Show me and the land where you’ve been living the same kindness that I have shown you.”

24 Abraham said, “I so swear.”

32 After they made the treaty at Beersheba, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, left and went back to the land of the Philistines. 33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba and worshiped Yahweh, El Olam, there. 34 Abraham lived a long time in the land of the Philistines.

Genesis 20 :
Abraham Deceives Abimelech

20 Abraham moved to the Negev and settled between Kadesh and Shur. While he was living in Gerar, 2 Abraham told everyone that his wife Sarah was his sister. So King Abimelech of Gerar sent men to take Sarah. 3 Elohim came to Abimelech in a dream one night and said to him, “You’re going to die because of the woman that you’ve taken! She’s a married woman!” 4 Abimelech hadn’t come near her, so he asked, “Adonay, will you destroy a nation even if it’s innocent? 5 Didn’t he tell me himself, ‘She’s my sister,’ and didn’t she even say, ‘He’s my brother’? I did this in all innocence and with a clear conscience.”

6 “Yes, I know that you did this with a clear conscience,” Elohim said to him in the dream. “In fact, I kept you from sinning against me. That’s why I didn’t let you touch her. 7 Give the man’s wife back to him now, because he’s a prophet. He will pray for you, and you will live. But if you don’t give her back, you and all who belong to you are doomed to die.”

Yahweh closed their wombs, Elohim, kept from sinning. Abimelech called Him Adonay, Sovereign Master.

11 Abraham said, “I thought that because there are no Elohim-fearing people in this place, I’d be killed because of my wife. 12 Besides, she is my sister—my father’s daughter but not my mother’s. She is also my wife. 13 When Elohim had me leave my father’s home and travel around, I said to her, ‘Do me a favor: Wherever we go, say that I’m your brother.’”

14 Then Abimelech took sheep, cattle, and male and female slaves and gave them to Abraham. He also gave his wife Sarah back to him. 15 Abimelech said, “Look, here’s my land. Live anywhere you like.” 16 He said to Sarah, “Don’t forget, I’ve given your brother 25 pounds of silver. This is to silence any criticism against you from everyone with you. You’re completely cleared.”

17 Abraham prayed to Elohim, and Elohim healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female slaves so that they could have children. 18 (Yahweh had made it impossible for any woman in Abimelech’s household to have children because of Abraham’s wife Sarah.)

The Natures of the Father and Son are clearly on display.

This series is a look at the Natures of the Godhead, I believe the Lord in the Old Testament is the Father, Jehovah or Yahweh, and God, Elohim is the Son, Jesus . As we go through the interactions with man we see how they are always in agreement but differ in speach and Temperment.
Genesis 19:
The story of Sodom said Gomorrah,  Note: Yahweh told Abraham what was going to happen,  Abraham prayed not to destroy the city if there were 10 righteousness people.   “Would you destroy the innocent with the guilty?”

Yahweh did not enter the city, the two angels alone went in.  Lot saved them from the men
and young boys who would rape them by offering his virgin daughters.

The angels pulled Lot inside and blinded the people so they could not find the door.

Lot Leaves Sodom, and the Cities Are Destroyed

12 Then the men asked Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—any in-laws, sons, daughters, or any other relatives in the city? Get them out of here 13 because we’re going to destroy this place. The complaints to Yahweh against its people are so loud that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it.”

14 So Lot went out and spoke to the men engaged to his daughters. He said, “Hurry! Get out of this place, because Yahweh is going to destroy the city.” But they thought he was joking.

Note:  Yahweh was saving Lot and all who would go with him.

15 As soon as it was dawn, the angels urged Lot by saying, “Quick! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you’ll be swept away when the city is punished.” 16 When he hesitated, the men grabbed him, his wife, and his two daughters by their hands, because Yahweh wanted to spare Lot. They brought them safely outside the city. 17 As soon as they were outside, one of the angels said, “Run for your lives! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stop on the plain. Run for the hills, or you’ll be swept away!”

The angels grabbed them by the hands because Yahweh  (The Lord), wanted to save them.  Why?  Because of Abraham’s love and prayers.

Jude 22

22 Show mercy to those who have doubts. 23 Save others by snatching them from the fire of hell. Show mercy to others, even though you are afraid that you might be stained by their sinful lives .

Lot only went to a city close by instead of fleeing as the angels told him,  Yahweh did not destroy that city for Lots  sake.

23 The sun had just risen over the land as Lot came to Zoar. 24 Then Yahweh made burning sulfur and fire rain out of heaven on Sodom and Gomorrah. 25 He destroyed those cities, the whole plain, all who lived in the cities, and whatever grew on the ground. 26 Lot’s wife looked back and turned into a column of salt.

27 Early the next morning Abraham came to the place where he had stood in front of Yahweh. 28 When he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land in the plain, he saw smoke rising from the land like the thick smoke of a furnace.

29 When Elohim destroyed the cities on the plain, Elohim remembered Abraham. Lot was allowed to escape from the destruction that came to the cities where he was living.

Yahweh and Elohim  destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.   The Father and Son act as one, in agreement.  Since the men engaged to the daughters stayed, the daughters slept with their father.

We find in Deuteronomy that Yahweh had land set aside for Lots children as well as Esau decendants.

Hebrews 12:26
Names of God Bible (NOG)
26 When God spoke to your ancestors, his voice shook the earth. But now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the sky.”

Gods voice shook the earth and He has promised it will once again.

Meanwhile the voices of His people barely cause a ripple.

We shout out from the gates of the city:  Repent,  seek Wisdom, turn from your wicked ways.

The  crowd continues on by…..paying no heed, seeing no need,  sinful indeed.

They cannot hear our words over the noise of our lives.

We look, walk, speak and do the things of the world and imagine we are set apart, sanctified, holy.   (We are not).

We must stand fast in our faith, act like men and see the Salvation of God.

Be strong, fear not and proclaim the love and faithfulness of the Lord to save, heal and comfort whosoever will.

Whosoever will, will never know, if we never tell them.

The Filling Station – 16 – 17 Genesis – 16 – 17

Genesis 16:

In chapter 15 we have that great verse: “Abram believed the Lord and it was counted to him for righteousness.”   He believed the Lord  would give him an heir but decided to help Him along.

He and Sarai decided  on their own plan.  Without consulting the Lord.  So we have Ishmael,  and a warning to wait on the Lords timing and plan.  Our ways are not the Lords ways.

Genesis 17:

Here we are Abram has loved, worshipped and obeyed the Lord for 24 years.  He has heard the name of God from Melchizedek,  and heard Gods voice in a dream.  Now he will meet Him.

Genesis 17
Names of God Bible (NOG)

The Lord’s Fifth Promise to Abraham

17 “When Abram was 99 years old, Yahweh appeared to him. He said to Abram, “I am El Shadday. Live in my presence with integrity. 2 I will give you my promise,[a] and I will give you very many descendants.”

Please read carefully,  words mean things.

*   The Lord (Yahweh ), appeared to Abram.

*   Introduced Himself as El Shadday  (Almighty God)

*   The Lord said  “live in my presence with integrity”.  (walk before me and be ye perfect).  “I will give you many descendants.”

Then we see how he reacts to meeting Almighty God for the first time:

“Immediately, Abram bowed with his face touching the ground, and again Elohim spoke to him, 4 “My promise is still with you. You will become the father of many nations. 5 So your name will no longer be Abram [Exalted Father], but Abraham [Father of Many] because I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will give you many descendants. Many nations and kings will come from you. 7 I will make my promise to you and your descendants for generations to come as an everlasting promise. I will be your Elohim and the God of your descendants. 8 I am also giving this land where you are living—all of Canaan—to you and your descendants as your permanent possession. And I will be your Elohim.”

Abram  mets Almighty God:
*    Abram bows down in Worship  (didn’t happen when first meeting the Lord)

*    Almighty God repeated the Lords promises

*    Almighty God made no demands, He saw the love in Worship.

*    Almighty God gave Abram and Sarai new names

“Elohim also said to Abraham, “You and your descendants in generations to come are to be faithful to my promise. 10 This is how you are to be faithful to my promise: Every male among you is to be circumcised. 11 All of you must be circumcised. That will be the sign of the promise from me to you.”

*   Circumcision was Instituted

To me, this is the moment Abraham met Jesus, Worship, new names, circumcision of our hearts…only requirement is love.

15 “Elohim said to Abraham, “Don’t call your wife by the name Sarai anymore. Instead, her name is Sarah [Princess]. 16 I will bless her, and I will also give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she will become a mother of nations, and kings will come from her.” 17 Immediately, Abraham bowed with his face touching the ground. He laughed as he thought to himself, “Can a son be born to a hundred-year-old man? Can Sarah, a ninety-year-old woman, have a child?” 18 Then Abraham said to Elohim, “Why not let Ishmael be my heir?”

19 “Elohim replied, “No! Your wife Sarah will give you a son, and you will name him Isaac [He Laughs]. I will make an everlasting promise to him and his descendants. 20 I have heard your request about Ishmael. Yes, I will bless him, make him fertile, and increase the number of his descendants. He will be the father of 12 princes, and I will make him a great nation. 21 But I will make my promise to Isaac. Sarah will give birth to him at this time next year.” 22 When Elohim finished speaking with Abraham, he left him.”

Abraham’s Household Circumcised

23 “So Abraham took his son Ishmael, everyone born in his household, and everyone bought with money—every male in his household—and circumcised them that day, as Elohim had told him. 24 Abraham was 99 years old when he was circumcised. 25 His son Ishmael was 13 years old when he was circumcised. 26 That same day Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised. 27 All the men of his household, whether born in the household or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.”

Immediate obedience:  Notice when the Lord first called Abram :

Genesis 12
King James Version (KJV)
12 “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:”

The Lord had said :  To me it seems the Lord had to mention it more than once.  After years of service, he learned to follow immediately.

Genesis 14:  Abram meets Melchizedek the priest of God :

Melchizedek Blesses Abram

17 After Abram came back from defeating Chedorlaomer and his allies, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Shaveh Valley (that is, the King’s Valley). 18 Then King Melchizedek of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was a priest of El Elyon.
(El Elyou means God most high).

19 He blessed Abram, and said,
“Blessed is Abram by El Elyon,
    maker[b] of heaven and earth.
20 Blessed is El Elyon,
who has handed your enemies over to you.”

Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, and keep everything else for yourself.”

22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I now raise my hand and solemnly swear to Yahweh El Elyon, maker of heaven and earth, 23 that I won’t take a thread or a sandal strap. I won’t take anything that is yours so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.’ 24 I won’t take one single thing except what my men have eaten. But let my allies Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share.”

This is the first mention of God in Abrams life.  Some say he met Jesus,  stick around I have another idea.

Genesis 15
Names of God Bible (NOG)

The Lord’s Fourth Promise to Abram

15 Later Yahweh spoke his word to Abram in a vision. He said,

“Abram, don’t be afraid.

I am your shield.

Your reward will be very great.”[a]

2 Abram asked, “Adonay Yahweh, what will you give me? Since I’m going to die without children, Eliezer of Damascus will inherit[b] my household. 3 You have given me no children, so this member of my household will be my heir.”

(Adonay Yahweh  means Sovereign Master, Jehovah ).

Suddenly, Yahweh spoke his word to Abram again. He said, “This man will not be your heir. Your own son will be your heir.”

” 6 Then Abram believed Yahweh, and that faith was regarded as the basis of Abram’s approval by Yahweh. 7 Then Yahweh said to him, “I am Yahweh, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land so that you will take possession of it.”

8 Abram asked, “Adonay Yahweh, how can I be certain that I will take possession of it?”

12 As the sun was just about to set, a deep sleep—a dreadful, deep darkness—came over Abram.”

Elohim speaks to Abram in a dream :

13 “Elohim said to Abram, “You can know for sure that your descendants will live in a land that is not their own, where they will be slaves, and they will be oppressed for 400 years. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve, and after that they will come out with many possessions. 15 But you will die in peace and be buried at a very old age. 16 In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, because the sin of the Amorites will not have run its course until then.”

17 The sun had gone down, and it was dark. Suddenly a smoking oven and a flaming torch passed between the animal pieces. 18 At that time Yahweh made a promise[c] to Abram. He said, “I will give this land to your descendants. This is the land from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates. 19 It is the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

In chapter 12 Abram meets Yahweh :

Genesis 12

Names of God Bible (NOG)

The Lord’s First Promise to Abram

12 Yahweh said to Abram,

“Leave your land,

    your relatives,

        and your father’s home.

Go to the land that I will show you.

2 I will make you a great nation,

I will bless you.

I will make your name great,

and you will be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you,

and whoever curses you, I will curse.

Through you every family on earth will be blessed.

The Lord’s Second Promise to Abram

4 “So Abram left, as Yahweh had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was 75 years old when he left Haran.

. 7 Then Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I’m going to give this land to your descendants.” So he built an altar there to Yahweh, who had appeared to him.”

8 “He moved on to the hills east of Bethel, and he put up his tent—with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. He also built an altar to Yahweh there and worshiped Yahweh. 9 Abram kept moving toward the Negev.”

Abram Deceives Pharaoh

13 “Please say that you’re my sister. Then everything will be alright for me, and because of you I will live.”

14 “When Abram arrived in Egypt, the Egyptians saw how very beautiful his wife was. 15 When Pharaoh’s officials saw her, they raved about her to Pharaoh, so Sarai was taken to Pharaoh’s palace.”

17 “However, Yahweh struck Pharaoh and his household with terrible plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. 18 Then Pharaoh called for Abram. “What have you done to me?” he asked. “Why didn’t you tell me that she’s your wife? 19 Why did you say, ‘She’s my sister’ and allow me to take her for my wife? Here’s your wife! Take her and go!” 20 Pharaoh gave his men orders concerning Abram. They sent Abram away with his wife and everything that he had.”

Genesis 13
Names of God Bible (NOG)

Abram and Lot Separate

13 “Abram left Egypt with his wife and everything he had and went to the Negev. Lot was with him. 2 Abram was very rich because he had livestock, silver, and gold. 3 He traveled from place to place. He went from the Negev as far as Bethel, to the area between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been originally, 4 where he had first made an altar. There Abram worshiped Yahweh.”

Abram said to Lot, “Please, let’s not have any more quarrels between us or between our herders. After all, we’re relatives.

10 Then Lot looked in the direction of Zoar as far as he could see. He saw that the whole Jordan Plain was well-watered like Yahweh’s garden or like Egypt. (This was before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah

12 Abram lived in Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain, moving his tents as far as Sodom. 13 (The people who lived in Sodom were very wicked. They committed terrible sins against Yahweh.)”

The Lord’s Third Promise to Abram

14 “After Lot left, Yahweh said to Abram, “Look north, south, east, and west of where you are. 15 I will give all the land you see to you and to your descendants for an indefinite period of time. 16 I will also give you as many descendants as the dust of the earth. If anyone could count the dust of the earth, then he could also count your descendants. 17 Go! Walk back and forth across the entire land because I will give it to you.” 18 So Abram moved his tents and went to live by the oak trees belonging to Mamre at Hebron. There he built an altar for Yahweh.”

Please note Abram has delt with and built alters and sacrificed only to Yahweh he has not heard the Name of Elohim.

The Fix-it Shop – “Depart from me , O Lord !”

“for I am a sinful man,”

image

Peter had just seen a miracle.   They had fished all night with no results.   Jesus told him to let down his nets again, he did and the fish filled two boats almost to sinking.

Peter, James and John were astonished.   Peter cried out:  “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”

Have you ever asked the Lord to depart, to leave you because you are unworthy.

I am  worthy to be in the presence of the Most High God, only by the blood sacrifice  of Jesus.

Now I can go boldly to the throne of grace and receive mercy and grace in my time of need.

I can go boldly,…. but do I?   Do any of us really practice, being in the presence of God?

When we spend time with God are we always petitioning Him for our needs or the needs of others.  Do we really know how to love Him?  He certainly loves us, He died for us, are we willing to die for Him.

I knew a man for years, I knew he was a Christian and I  assumed he knew I was also.  He did not know of my love for the Lord.  Not by my words or actions,  my witness was sorely lacking.

I  had fallen away, I let the devil knock me down and keep me down for a number of years.
I loved the Lord but I wasn’t in His Word or presence.

I  was relying on old knowledge of Him.  Remembering His Love and Grace instead of experiencing it anew.  I was Saved but Spiritually dead.  I  needed to be quickened once again.

The Lords mercy is new every morning.    We need to seek His face with every new day.  Experience His love, comfort and peace to understand His plan for our life.

The manna The Lord gave them in the desert was food for that day only. (Except for the Sabbath).  They collected what they needed, a little or a lot and they had what was needed that day.

The Word of God is our manna today, we must collect what we need to stay in His presence. We must have new manna daily, The Lord will cause you to see and understand the workings of the Word, if we  hunger and thirst for Him.

Jesus promised Peter, James and John that they would become fishers of men.  Here they are with their biggest cstch ever.

“So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him”.

Have we?

Genesis 9

Names of God Bible (NOG)

God Blesses Noah and His Sons

9 Elohim blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fertile, increase in number, and fill the earth.

God’s Promise—The Sign of the Rainbow

8 Elohim also said to Noah and his sons, 9 “I am going to make my promise[a] to you, your descendants, 10 and every living being that is with you—birds, domestic animals, and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ship—every living thing on earth. 11 I am making my promise to you. Never again will all life be killed by floodwaters. Never again will there be a flood that destroys the earth.”

12 Elohim said, “This is the sign of the promise I am giving to you and every living being that is with you for generations to come. 13 I will put my rainbow in the clouds to be a sign of my promise to the earth.

17 So Elohim said to Noah, “This is the sign of the promise I am making to all life on earth.”

28 Noah lived 350 years after the flood. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years; then he died.

Here again we see the Lord and God in perfect harmony.   Their speach is definitely  different from the other.

The Filling Station – 8 – Genesis 8. bill cote

We are still dealing with Noah and the flood.  I  find this interesting :

Genesis 8
Names of God Bible (NOG)

God Remembers Noah

” Elohim remembered Noah and all the wild and domestic animals with him in the ship. So Elohim made a wind blow over the earth, and the water started to go down”

Then Elohim spoke to Noah, “Come out of the ship with your wife, your sons, and your sons’ wives.   Bring out every animal that’s with you: birds, domestic animals, and every creature that crawls on the earth. Be fertile, increase in number, and spread over the earth.”

“So Noah came out with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives. Every animal, crawling creature, and bird—everything that moves on the earth—came out of the ship, one kind after another.

“Noah built an altar to Yahweh. On it he made a burnt offering of each type of clean[a] animal and clean bird.  Yahweh smelled the soothing aroma. Yahweh said to himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of humans, even though from birth their hearts are set on nothing but evil. I will never again kill every living creature as I have just done.”

“As long as the earth exists,
    planting and harvesting,
    cold and heat,
    summer and winter,
    day and night
        will never stop.”

Again we definitely have conversations with two separate members of the Trinity.   We will see almost all offerings are to the Lord….because Jesus is the ultimate offering. This is the first recorded burnt offering.

The covenant of the rainbow was made by the Lord….

The Fix-it Shop – 2 – Here am I; send me.

image

Those of us who wish to be used by the Lord, need to learn a simple phrase.  We find it repeated by Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Samuel and Isaiah.

It is simple to say and somewhat harder to preform but here it is:

“the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

When the Lord had said unto Abram, “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:”

Abram demonstrated “Here am I.”   By obedience.

Whether in a dream,  vision or wide awake if the Lord calls we should answer:  “Here am I, Lord.”

When we are not used, I think it’s  because we answer:
“Later Lord, I’m kind of in the middle of something. ”

“You want me to do what?”  “That’s not possible.”  “I’ll go tomorrow.”  “Not them?  Really?”  “Your kidding? ”

I don’t think Abram left the first time “the Lord had said,”   and we know Gideon didn’t jump right to it.

The only difference between them and us is they were willing to go, do, believe and experience what the Lord willed.

Today we have the same problem as the rich, young ruler.  We can’t give up our job, home, wealth, or families, unless we know it’s a sure thing.

If you would be used by the Lord, practice saying “Here I am Lord.”  “What would you have me do?  What should I say?  Where shall I go?”

Or to quote a song:  Yes Lord, Yes Lord, Yes, Yes, Lord, Yes…..

The Filling Station – 7 – Genesis 7 – bill cote

The study of the Trinity can be confusing.   We often consider  the Lord God as one member of the Trinity.  We think of Him as Father God.

For years I accepted this as Gospel until I woke one morning  thinking of Moses at the burning  bush.

I have switched to the Names of God Bible, because I feel using the Hebrew names will help to separate them in our minds.

God is Elohim, which means Creator / Supreme Ruler :

The Lord is Yahweh which means Eternal or Everlasting One:

Exodus 3:1-7
Names of God Bible (NOG)

Moses at the Burning Bush

“Moses was taking care of the sheep of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. As he led the sheep to the far side of the desert, he came to Horeb, the mountain of Elohim.

The Messenger of Yahweh appeared to him there as flames of fire coming out of a bush. Moses looked, and although the bush was on fire, it was not burning up.   So he thought, “Why isn’t this bush burning up? I must go over there and see this strange sight.”

When Yahweh saw that Moses had come over to see it, Elohim called to him from the bush, “Moses, Moses!”

Moses answered, “Here I am!”

Elohim said, “Don’t come any closer! Take off your sandals because this place where you are standing is holy ground.   I am the Elohim of your ancestors,[a] the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at Elohim.

Yahweh said, “I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt, and I have heard them crying out because of the slave drivers. I know how much they’re suffering.”

So here we find Moses the writer of the first five books of our Bible  meeting and having a conversation with both Elohim and Yahweh.  This is what caused me to dig into and prove to myself that the Trinity works in harmony, in agreement but have individual and specific Natures.

If you will stick with me I believe the Word of God will convince you.  Lets go back to Noah in Genesis 7.  We will only look at verses with interactions of God or the Lord  with man or nature.

“Yahweh said to Noah, “Go into the ship with your whole family because I have seen that you alone are righteous among the people of today.   Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal”

The Lord saw Noah as Righteous because Noah walked with Elohim, (Jesus).  Because he walked with Jesus he saved himself and his family.

“In seven days I will send rain to the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. I will wipe off the face of the earth every living creature that I have made.”   So Noah did everything that Yahweh commanded him.

Noah was 600 years old when the flood came to the earth.  Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives went into the ship to escape the floodwaters.   Clean and unclean animals, birds, and creatures that crawl on the ground  came to Noah to go into the ship in pairs (a male and female of each) as Elohim had commanded Noah.”

“Then Yahweh closed the door behind them.  The flood continued for 40 days on the earth.”

“The floodwaters were on the earth for 150 days.”

In this chapter I believe we clearly see Noah interacting with both, Elohim  (God) and Yahweh  (The Lord ).

We will see more in the next installment

The Fix-it Shop – that the world may know

image

Have you ever wondered why God used miracles?   Read His reasons here:

“that the world may know, ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the Lord our God.

ye shall know that I am the Lord your God. ye shall know that the living God is among you, Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. that the world may know

That they may believe that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever.

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. that they may believe that thou hast sent me. to the intent ye may believe; Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. that ye might believe.”

That people would know and believe.   Do you think He has changed His mind?  He still wants people to know and believe.

Do you think His power and might are no longer able to work?  Is the problem Him or our belief system.

I’m betting it’s us……Come let us reason together.  See if the Lord  will unlock this mystery and release His power and presence once again.

Denominational Differences – Gods Design? ??

Why are there so many  Denominations?   There is only God, yet we have hundreds of ways we Worship.  Some really understand Praise and Worship.   Others are so quietly reverent, shouting in Praise is almost sacrilegious.

Some practice healing,  tongues, prophecy, the gifts of the Spirit.   Others acknowledge the Spirit  but let’s  not get too spooky.   There are free Spirits and ridged rituals. Some who  protect and believe their Denominations revelation and think there is none other.

I will once again ask you to take your Denominational glasses off and understand the Word of God.  Some like to think that Since Jesus saved us from the law of sin and death, that we don’t need to understand the Old Testament,  behold all things became new.

Gods character, desires and design is the same throughout the entire book.  He desires a people who will Worship Him in Spirit and truth.  A people who will walk in and consider His testimony, hearken diligently to His Word and obey.  Give themselves  to Him in all they do.

So let us see how that works out.  As it was in the Old it remains in the New.  There were millions of people, brought out of Egypt  and led to the promised land.  God spent the first two years in the desert  teaching them to be sanctified, consecrated,  holy before Him.

When they heard the voice of God, they asked Moses to be their intermediary.   When it became time to enter the promise.   All but two had an evil heart of unbelief and never entered the promise.   Joshua and Caleb had a different spirit, because they had a relationship with God.

If we look at the configuration of the order of march in the desert for the next 38 years we find out it looks like a cross.  There is order in the way they are positioned  around the Tabernacle.

The leader is always  Judah,  Praise,  God is holy and inhabits Praise:
Psalm 22:3
King James Version (KJV)
“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”

                                                                        JUDAH

                                                                      ISSACHAR

                                                                       ZEBULUN

DAN.                                                         MOSES – AARON.                                                  REUBEN

                                                                          PRIESTS

ASHER.                                                        TABERNACLE.                                                    SIMEON

                        GERSHOM                                      –                                        MERARI

                                                                      SANCTUARY.

                                                                      KOHATHITES

NAPHTALI                                                                                                                                 GAD
                                                                        EPHRAIM.

                                                                        MANASSEH

                                                                         BENJAMIN

The Tabernacle and Sanctuary  travel in the midst  of all, the children of Levi caring for it.

One tribe carries the fabrics that make up the rooms of the Tabernacle.

One tribe carries the hardware and rods, boards and hard structures of the  Tabernacle.

The third tribe hand carries the Sanctuary.   The alter, candle sticks, mercy seat,  implements for sacrifices.

All other tribes are surrounding and protecting the house of the Lord.

The point is all have a particular responsibility.   We todays believers, are the Levites and Priest’s,   we are to carry the Word, guard the Word, respect and have reverence for the Word.

Act on the Word.  Praise the Lord, pray for the sick, comfort the brokenhearted,  walk in the Spirit,  the light, in wisdom towards them without.

The Denominations should all be working together,  to proclaim the year of the Lord.  In one accord about the Spiritual.   This one thing:  “God is, and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. “

That is why the early church grew, the church would grow today if we really believed.

Please look to the Spiritual,  the things on earth are fleeting,  gone in a moment.  Set your sights on that which is above.  Love and share the Love of our Lord.

The Filling Station – 6 – Genesis 6 bill cote

Genesis 6

Man is multiplying on the face of the earth, sons of God taking the daughters of men….giants in the land.

The Lord speaking :

Genesis 6:3
King James Version (KJV)
“And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”

Genesis 6:6-8
King James Version (KJV)
“And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.  And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”

The voice of God:

Genesis 6:5
King James Version (KJV)
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

Genesis 6:9-14
King James Version (KJV)
“These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.  And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.  Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.”

The Lord said: My Sprint will not always strive with man, he is flesh.  The Lord repented that He made man.  But Noah found grace in the Lords  eyes.

I contend Noah found grace with the Lord because like Enoch   he walked with God. (Jesus,  grace equals Salvation ), brought through the flood alive.  In fear Noah built the Ark for the saving of his family and became the heir of righteousness.

God looked  apon the earth saw mans imagination and  thoughts of his heart were evil.  The earth was corrupt,  full of violence. God told Noah the end of all flesh is come I will destroy  them.

The Lord and God in agreement  to destroy the earth.  God had a one more thing to tell Noah.  He showed him the way of Salvation, build an Ark and here’s what you need

God gave instructions for building,  gathering the animals and said He would destroy the earth.  The last verse of chapter 6 tells us:

Genesis 6:22
King James Version (KJV)
“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”

In Every Thing

It’s the middle of the night, (4:30 am), I wake to find my wife in the living room praying.  This is not unusual, for most of our 30 years together we have lived by faith.

To put it simply,  we do not have a regular pay check, insurance, or  unemployment if work is not there.

Bette is the one who  thinks ahead, has good sense,  is a Proverbs 31 woman.

I seem to coast along not concerned about money, until my pockets are empty and the mortgage is due.  How can she stand the uncertainty of living with me.

She loves and has faith in the Lord.  She has seen the Lords provision many times, often at the last minute, or beyond.   Sometimes its the  work we’ve prayed for, and sometimes it’s in the form of gifts.

Like the Hebrews, saved from slavery in Egypt,  we’ve seen the Lord do mighty works, signs and wonders, yet still worry about todays need.

It begs the question : “What are we to do or think about;   In Every Thing?

The Word tells us if we love the Lord and are obedient children:

In Every Thing we are rich.

☆   “we abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.”

This is promised and given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ.  A measure of faith, the knowledge to speak and live the Word of God. We must be  diligent, faithful, prayerful, we must love the Lord, sit at His feet, Praise and Worship His majesty,  allow His love to reach out to others through us.

☆  ” God will make you rich enough so that you can always be generous.”

The widow from 1 Kings 17, when Elijah asked for a morsel of food said:

” I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

Elijah asked her to give him food first, she did and never ran out of meal or oil.

It doesn’t matter how little we have, if we give we shall receive. My Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills, we are rich in Christ,  He will provide according to His riches in glory.

☆   “Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks.”

If we could just learn to Rejoice in the Lord, knowing He is in control.  We have a lesson to learn in this situation, pray as the Lord taught us:

Worship, acknowledge God is God

Accept His will

Ask for your needs

Ask for forgiveness – remember forgiveness hinges on our forgiving others

Ask for protection, direction

Worship

God promises the peace that passes understanding will keep our hearts and minds.

☆  “Whatever happens, give thanks, because it is God’s will in Christ Jesus  that you do this.”

It may seem God has forgotten you, you are alone, help is not on the way but help is on the way!

Don’t quit; pray, praise,  quench not the Spirit,  relie, trust and believe that God can, God will and even if He doesn’t;  We will still Worship and Serve Him.

Prove His Word…..He is Faithful and Just and will preserve us blameless till His coming.  He has called us to His service and He will do it.

The Filling Station 5 – Genesis 5 – bill cote

image

The first four chapters of Genesis we find God and the Lord walking and working  together. The first glimpse of my “Billism” comes when Moses writes of the birth of Cain.

Eve states  the Lord gave her Cain,  he brought an offering to the Lord, the Lord rejected the offering.

Cain left the presence of the Lord, the Lord promised  protection.

Eve later states God gave her Seth,  then Enos, that is when men began to call apon the Lord.

Chapter 5 we begin to see the generations of man, we will look at the interaction of God, The Lord and man.

First stop:  Genesis 5:21-24
King James Version (KJV)
“And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:  And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:  And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:  And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

The first instance of man pleasing  God.  Revelation 4:11 “Tells we were created for Gods pleasure.”   Enoch is alive in bodily form in heaven today, because  he had this testimony, “he believed God is and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”

Next stop we meet :  Genesis 5:28-29
King James Version (KJV)
“And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:  And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.”

Genesis 5:32
King James Version (KJV)
“And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.”

Chapter 6 begins the story  of Noah.  He interacts and obeys both the Lord and God.

The Filling Station 4.      Genesis 4. bill cote

image

In chapter 4  I will point out the differences in the Natures of God and the Lord. Moses had met both at the burning bush.

The Lord saw:  God said:  Exodus 3:4
King James Version (KJV)
And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.”

The voice and actions of the Lord:  Most of this chapter is the Lords, only in the last couple of verses do hear Gods voice.

” 1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?

10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;

12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth

Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

16 And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

 God:
25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

The Filling Station.     3                                    bill cote GODS VOICE AND ACTION:                      GENESIS 3

Chapter 3:  introduction of Satan :

“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.

. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Note:  Serpents could speak:  questions  Gods Word:

“the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”

Note:  women misquoted God…

“the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

Note: 1 John 2:16
King James Version (KJV)
“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

“when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
that it was pleasant to the eyes, a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,

and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:”

Note: Lord speaking to God: unless just to Himself.

“Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked?

Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she

gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done?

the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;”

Note:  listen and obey God not man, we must know Gods Word.

“Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:”

Note:  They had access to and had probably ate of the tree of like, after sin, The Lord God  couldn’t let them eat again.

“Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”
Up to this point the Lord and God have acted and spoken as one, in agreement  and walking together.  In Chapter 4 things change.
