Man and his Maker – The Filling Station

I keep making the same errors.   I  just give scriptures,  trying to prove my point.  Boring.

My question for you is are you walking with God?  (Jesus ).  Or are you walking before The Lord? (Jehovah the Father ).  Do we have a choice?

I believe Pastors are given the Spirit of God  (Jesus ).  They are infused with Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge and Skill  to build the church of God.

Wheather a church of 20 or 200….the people need to be instructed in Praise, Worship, Prayer and Fasting, Faith, Bible study….obedience,  tithing, giving and shareing.

Those who are walking in the Spirit of the Lord, are Warriors,  in prayer and praise, Spiritual as well as physical. (As our country keeps moving to the Godless left).

Isaiah 61
King James Version (KJV)
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

It is Yahweh that Annoints to preach, comfort the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom and deliver those in bondage.

Evangelists, healers, miracles, signs and wonders seem to happen more outside the regular worship services.

We need to develop the Gifts of the Spirit that we are given.  Seek the wisdom and comfort of the Spirit,  He will lead, guide, protect and direct us in their use.

Take them off the shelf,  if you’ve hiden them, let them  multiply.  Be bold and of good Spirit the Lord will be pleased with your efforts.

the blessing of Judah: The Fix-it Shop

Deuteronomy 33:7
King James Version (KJV)
And this is the blessing of Judah: and he said, Hear, Lord, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou an help to him from his enemies.

Judah or praise is so important in our daily walk with the Lord.  We need to live Yoked to Jesus.

This seems hard or even impossible :

Matthew 11:30-28
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Sometimes it helps to mix things up.  Here Jesus tells us to be Yoked to Him is easy and light work.

In my sordid past I did a lot of heavy and hard work.
It was rewarding and exhausting and frustrating.

When I  find myself actually doing my Father’s business I have the peace that passes understanding and joy unspeakable.

It is not hard or grievous,  heavy and exhausting.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

We need to continue on our walk by learning of Him.
This can’t be known by studying but by living Yoked to  and walking beside, experiencing His mercy and grace daily.

Going boldly to the Father,  covered in the blood and righteousness of Christ .  Knowing who we are in the Beloved.

Meek, lowly not considering ourselves, doing for and loving others, finding rest in His embrace.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

A promise we can rely on.  An invitation to experience the blessings of Judah. For it is a form of Praise to Walk with Jesus.

He will hear your hearts desire, bring you to your place, with a loving accepting people,  your hands will be sufficient , you will always have enough and He will help us, keep us from  our enimies.

Lord, I  long to live a life of Praise,  walking with You, learning and leaning on Your Everlasting Arms.

Thank You for Your mercy and grace,  Your life and death, the power of Your blood and resurrection.

May You be glorified, magnified and exalted.

Man and his Maker – The Filling Station – Exodus 24

Exodus 24 The Promise Sealed with Blood

Yahweh said to Moses, “You and Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and 70 of Israel’s leaders come up the mountain to me and worship at a distance. Moses may come near Yahweh, but the others may not. The people must not come along with Moses.”

Moses sacrificed and sprinkled blood on the people :

Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and 70 of Israel’s leaders. They saw the Elohim of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made out of sapphire as clear and blue as the sky itself. Elohim didn’t harm these leaders of the Israelites. So they saw Elohim, and then they ate and drank.

Moses Goes up the Mountain to Receive God’s Words Written on Stone

Yahweh said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the stone tablets with the teachings and the commandments I have written for the people’s instruction.”

Moses set out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up on the mountain of Elohim. He said to the leaders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are here with you. Take all your disagreements to them.”

So Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered it. The glory of Yahweh settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered it, and on the seventh day Yahweh called to Moses from inside the cloud. To the Israelites, the glory of Yahweh looked like a raging fire on top of the mountain. Moses entered the cloud as he went up the mountain. He stayed on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights.

Exodus 25
Gifts for Use in the Tent of Meeting

Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to choose something to give me as a special contribution.
The Ark

“Make an ark of acacia wood 45 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 27 inches high. Cover it with pure gold inside and out, and put a gold molding around it.
The Table

“Make a table of acacia wood 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 27 inches high. Cover it with pure gold, and put a gold molding around it. Make a rim three inches wide around it, and put a gold molding
The Lamp Stand

“Make a lamp stand out of pure gold. The lamp stand, its base, and its shaft, as well as the flower cups, buds, and petals must be hammered out of one piece of gold.
Make seven lamps, and set them on the lamp stand so that they light up the area in front of it.

Man and his Maker – The Filling Station – Exodus 21-23

image

Exodus 21
Yahweh still speaking :
Laws Concerning the Treatment of Slaves : setting slaves free/bond servants
I hereby declare my love for my master, my wife, and my children. I don’t want to leave as a free man,’ then his master must bring him to Elohim. The master must bring him to the door or the doorframe and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his slave for life.
Laws Concerning Injury to People: cities of refuge
Whoever strikes someone and kills him must be put to death. If it wasn’t done intentionally, but Elohim let it happen, the killer should flee to a place I will set aside for you
Laws Concerning Property

Exodus 22
Yahweh speaking about theft
If the thief is not caught, the owner of the house must be brought to Elohim to find out whether or not he took his neighbor’s valuables.  If there is a dispute over the ownership of a bull, a donkey, a sheep, an article of clothing, or any other lost property which two people claim as their own, both people must bring their case to Elohim. The one whom Elohim declares guilty must make up for his neighbor’s loss with double the amount.
The case between them must be settled by swearing an oath to Yahweh that the neighbor did not take the other person’s animal. The owner must accept the oath
Laws for Living as God’s Holy People
“Whoever sacrifices to any god except Yahweh must be condemned and destroyed.
“Never show disrespect for Elohim or curse a leader of your people.

There is much more in these chapters. …just trying to relay Yahweh speaking of Elohim.   Yahweh does the talking all the way to chapter 24, where He talks of the blood.

Man and his Maker – The Filling Station – Exodus 20

image

Exodus 20

Elohim gives the 10 commandments. Elohim says He is Lord God, usually it is the Lord who proclaims He is the Lord God. The Two are one with different voices,

The Ten Commandments

20 Then Elohim spoke all these words:

2 “I am Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of slavery in Egypt.

3 “Never have any other god. 4 Never make your own carved idols or statues that represent any creature in the sky, on the earth, or in the water. 5 Never worship them or serve them, because I, Yahweh your Elohim, am El Kanna. (Jealous God) I punish children for their parents’ sins to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me. 6 But I show mercy to thousands of generations of those who love me and obey my commandments.  (Continues the 10 commandments )

Yahweh speaks :

General Rules for Worship

22 Yahweh said to Moses, “This is what you must say to the Israelites: You’ve seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven. 23 Never make any gods of silver or gold for yourselves. Never worship them.

24 “You must build an altar for me made out of dirt. Sacrifice your burnt offerings and your fellowship offerings, your sheep, goats, and cattle on it. Wherever I choose to have my name remembered, I will come to you and bless you. 25 If you build an altar for me made out of stones, never make it with cut stone blocks. If you use a chisel on it, you will make it unacceptable to me. 26 Never use stairs to go up to my altar. Otherwise, people will be able to see under your clothes.”

Both speak, burnt offerings most of the time are made to Yahweh. ..

Man and his Maker – The Filling Station – Exodus 19

image

Exodus 19
Two months after the Israelites left Egypt, they came to the desert of Sinai. 2 Israel had moved from Rephidim and had come into the desert of Sinai. They had set up camp there in front of the mountain.

3 Then Moses went up the mountain to Elohim, and Yahweh called to him from the mountain, “This is what you must say to the descendants of Jacob. Tell the Israelites, 4 ‘You have seen for yourselves what I did to Egypt and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to my mountain. 5 If you carefully obey me and are faithful to the terms of my promise,[a] then out of all the nations you will be my own special possession, even though the whole world is mine. 6 You will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation.’ These are the words you must speak to the Israelites.”

Yahweh said to Moses, “I am coming to you in a storm cloud so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always believe you.” Moses told Yahweh what the people had said.

10 So Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to the people, and tell them they have two days to get ready. They must set themselves apart as holy. Have them wash their clothes 11 and be ready by the day after tomorrow. On that day Yahweh will come down on Mount Sinai as all the people watch. 12 Mark off a boundary around the mountain for the people, and tell them not to go up the mountain or even touch it.

16 On the morning of the second day, there was thunder and lightning with a heavy cloud over the mountain, and a very loud blast from a ram’s horn was heard. All the people in the camp shook with fear.

17 Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with Elohim, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.

18 All of Mount Sinai was covered with smoke because Yahweh had come down on it in fire. Smoke rose from the mountain like the smoke from a kiln, and the whole mountain shook violently.

19 As the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, Moses was speaking, and the voice of Elohim answered him.

20 Yahweh came down on top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up. 21 Yahweh said to him, “Go down and warn the people not to force their way through the boundary to see Yahweh, or many of them will die. 22 Even the priests who are allowed to come near Yahweh must set themselves apart as holy, or Yahweh will violently kill them.”

We have both voices of the Godhead recognized.

Exodus 16

Yahweh  gives them manna

Exodus 17

The whole community of Israelites left the desert of Sin and traveled from place to place as Yahweh commanded them.

Yahweh answered Moses, “Bring some of the leaders of Israel with you, and go to where the people can see you. Take the staff you used to strike the Nile River. 6 I’ll be standing in front of you there by a rock at Mount Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.”

Moses did this while the leaders of Israel watched him.

He named that place Massah [Testing] and Meribah [Complaining] because the Israelites complained and because they tested Yahweh, asking, “Is Yahweh with us or not?”

Yahweh gave them water

God Defeats the Amalekites

The Amalekites fought Israel at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men. Then fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill. I will hold in my hand the staff Elohim told me to take along.”

10 Joshua did as Moses told him and fought the Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel would win, but as soon as he put his hands down, the Amalekites would start to win. 12 Eventually, Moses’ hands felt heavy. So Aaron and Hur took a rock, put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron held up one hand, and Hur held up the other. His hands remained steady until sunset. 13 So Joshua defeated the Amalekite army in battle.

14 Yahweh said to Moses, “Write this reminder on a scroll, and make sure that Joshua hears it, too: I will completely erase any memory of the Amalekites from the earth.”

15 Moses built an altar and called it Yahweh Nissi. 16 He said, “Because a hand was lifted against Yah’s throne,[a] Yahweh will be at war against the Amalekites from one generation to the next.”

I know it is hard for some to get their mind around this but I  feel Moses knew both Elohim and Yahweh and used the name of the one he meant.

For years the Lord God was like the first and last name of God to me. Now I realize it is two entity’s,  you would not say Bill told me and Cote said….but if Bill and  George are there it would be Bill told me and George said.

Two different,  distinct members of the Trinity.

Even Moses father in law recognized the Godhead :

Exodus 18
Names of God Bible (NOG)
Moses’ Father-in-law Visits Israel’s Camp

18 Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, heard about everything Elohim had done for Moses and his people Israel and how Yahweh had brought Israel out of Egypt.

In this chapter we have one of the few times we see a sacrifice made to Elohim.

Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and other sacrifices to Elohim. Aaron and all the leaders of Israel came to eat the meal with Moses’ father-in-law in Elohim’s presence

Jethro give Moses advice :

When Moses’ father-in-law saw everything Moses was doing for the people, he asked, “Why are you doing this for the people? Why do you sit here alone, while all the people stand around you from morning until evening?”

15 Moses answered his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to find out Elohim’s will. 16 Whenever they have a disagreement and bring it to me, I decide which person is right, and I tell them Elohim’s laws and instructions.”

17 Moses’ father-in-law replied, “What you’re doing is not good. 18 You and your people will wear yourselves out. This is too much work for you. You can’t do it alone! 19 Now listen to me, and I’ll give you some advice. May Elohim be with you! You must be the people’s representative to Elohim and bring their disagreements to Elohim. 20 You must instruct them in the laws and the teachings, show them how to live, and tell them what to do.

21 “But choose capable men from all the people, men who fear Elohim, men you can trust, men who hate corruption

Exodus 7-13:16

This is Yahweh’s show, Yahweh told Moses, Moses Moses told Pharaoh.  10 plagues.  Only Elohim’s thunder and hail. 9:24

In Exodus 13:17

We find Elohim leading them out of Egypt, the long way, into an impossible place.  Yahweh (Elohim ), a column of smoke or fire day and night to lead them.

Exodus 14 :  Yahweh still doing the talking at the Red Sea, Yahweh parting the waters. Elohim :

19 The Messenger of Elohim, who had been in front of the Israelites, moved behind them. So the column of smoke moved from in front of the Israelites and stood behind them 20 between the Egyptian camp and the Israelite camp. The column of smoke was there when darkness came, and it lit up the night. Neither side came near the other all night long.

Yahweh’s in charge,  Elohim protecting…..

What’s it mean, to Walk with God: The Fix-it Shop

image

For all of my Christian life,  my desire has been to walk with God.   I know I am not alone.  The story of Enoch is incredible.  Oh that I could just walk home with God.  Be done with the trials and struggles, the sins and snares of this life.

Here is the rub, I walk with Him, I’m close to Him, obedient to Him. Until I’m not.   The old man within doesn’t want to get with the program.  The roaring lion is attempting to devour me.  When I submit myself to the Lord, the devil must flee.  When I submit myself to the Lord…..I am walking with God.

We must learn to allow Gods Spirit into our lives.   If we look at the Spirit of God,  we find a Spirit  of Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge, workmanship and the Spirit of Prophesy.

Exodus 31:
Lord spake unto Moses, saying, I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,  To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,  And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.

Acts 2:
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

All of these gifts were given to build His Tabernacle in the old Testament, where He resided and His Church in the New. He now resides within us.  He will give us the Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge and skill to build His body here on earth.

When we allow His Spirit to teach and guide us we can walk with God.  Enoch walked will God 300 years and is in heaven today, because God took him, he had this testimony he believed God is and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him ….he also  prophecied of the 2nd comming of Jesus.

Noah walked with God,  found Grace. In the eyes of the Lord.  In reverential fear build an ark and saved his family.   Peter tells us he never failed to be a preacher of righteousness. Noah walked with God for 950 years.

So why is it hard for us to walk longer thsn 15. Minutes?   We allow to much other stuff in our lives.  TV, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, MUSIC, GOSSIP. …We need to set our faces like flint towards the son and walk in the light.  Allowing God to lead and guide us in His ways.

We need to leave the pleasures of the world to the world and find our joy in the Holy Spirit.  The Lord will build His Church by His Spirit in those who Walk with Him.

The only way we can walk with Jesus is to take His Yoke upon us.   Most of the great Fathers of our faith walked  before the Lord.  They were warriors for the Lord.

The two that walked with God, were preachers of righteousness.  If we long to walk with Jesus, we must don His Yoke, do His will.  Preach the gospel of the Kingdom.

How did Jesus preach the gospel?    With signs and wonders following. ….

Jesus sent the Spirit to teach and guide us, comfort and empower us.  The Spirit gave us gifts, we have neglected to press into the Holy of Holies, to submit ourselves to God, to become useful vessels, vessels He can trust and relie on to give Him the glory and praise.

Lord Jesus, please help me to be a set apart, obedient servant that you can trust with your power and grace.  I long to see people saved, set free, healed and on fire to serve You.

Lord, make me a useful vessel.

Who then shall be saved? – The Fix-it Shop

image

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

I am a simple guy, I tend to believe what is written.  This verse promises that my belief covers my family.   A lot of Christians take issue with that.

If we look in the Old Testament we find this truth in the life of  Noah, again at the first passover, Abraham’s prayer  for Lot had the angels of the Lord, grabbing the hands of Lot, his wife and two daughters and leading them to safety.

We learn in Deuteronomy that the Lord had set aside land for Lots daughters and Esau and the Hebrews were to leave them alone.  They eventually  ended up losing that protection by harassing the Hebrews.

Exodus 20:5b-6
“I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;   And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”

Would He not be showing mercy by saving those you love?

In the New Testament we have the first verse mentioned and the verse in Corinthians that the wife doesn’t know if she will save her unbelieving husband.

Yet we have Jesus telling Nicodemus : ” Ye must be born again.”  There is no other Name by which we are saved.

“Whosoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

As a one time pastor and talking to pastors, there is  some doubt that all in their flock are saved.  I  believe that more are saved than we think.

The only requirement of Salvation is belief on Jesus, confessing that belief and Baptism.   So many may be saved that we think aren’t living the life.

Well what does heaven look like?  If we take the Tabernacle in the desert as a guide, we have a multitude of people.  The Tabernacle is placed away from the crowd.

There is a court yard, Holy Place and Holy of Holies.

I picture heaven as a giant football stadium.   The saved are in the seats….the people who have studied the word, pray, teach Sunday school, help around the church have purchased the best seats.

Those who just believe are in the nose bleed seats.

Then you have the playing field.  These are the people who are doing the work of God.  They live in the courtyard.  ( see Psalm 65 :4)

They enter the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies as they serve the Lord with gladness.

Is this Biblical?

No but I believe those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  It is the way I get my head around the mercy and grace of God.  Do not let this “Billism ”  hurt your faith, I hope it will draw you closer to the Lord.

Our God is bigger than our beliefs.   The Word is the final Word on what to believe.  Study to shew thyself approved unto God.

Abram and Melchizedek (type of Jesus? ) – The Fix-it Shop

image

When we were taught the Old Testament in Bible School it was said Melchizedek was a type of or maybe even was Jesus. (Genesis 14) I don’t think so.

Abram had just rescued his nephew from captivity. …The King of Salem and Melchizedek the priest  of God met with Abram. The priest blessed Abram, Abram blessed the priest.  Abram refused a share of the spoils and gave a tithe to Melchizedek.

If we reread the story of Abram we find this is the first time God was mentioned in his story.

A little later a deep sleep overcomes Abram and God appears in a dream and fortells the 400 years of captivity his decendants will endure.

It isn’t untill chapter 17 that the Lord comes to him and introduced  Himself as Almighty God.

If we read that pasage we find the Lord telling him walk before me and be ye perfect.  God says I  will make my covenant with you….no conditions.

We find when he meets Almighty God, he falls on his face to Worship  (never that reaction to the Lord).  His name is changed,  he gets circumcised  that day.

To me,  that is when he met Jesus.  We get a new name, circumcision of our hearts,  I fell down to Worship when I met Him.  How about you?

So to me, Melchizedek was just what he was called, a priest of God.  Almighty God is Jesus.

The Lord said: Levi walked with Me…The Filling Station – 4

image Levi the third son of Jacob from the unloved Leah.  His name means attached.   She had hoped  her husband would become attached to her but I  think his name is a fore shadow of the priests job.  To bring people to a saving knowledge of Christ. We really have very little knowledge of Levi, we only have one quote from him:  ” Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot? “ His sister Dinah had been kidnapped and raped by this prince of a near by town.  The king came to Jacob to make a deal.  We will  trade and be as one tribe, marry one anothers daughters, buy and sell, ect… The sons of Jacob told them they could if they would all be circumcised.  They agreed and on the third day Levi and Simeon went into the town and killed all the men.  The other brothers came for the spoil. Jacob rebuked them and never blessed them with lands, just towns in their brothers lands. My “Billism” on this is they did the Lords work….You cannot treat a daughter of the Lord like that and get away with it.  Like Elijah,  Levi  acted as the Lord willed. We never hear the Lord rebuking Levi or Moses for murder.  Proverbs 6 tells us He hates “feet that shed innocent blood.”   If we look into Moses time…the golden calf….”All on the Lords side come to me.”  The Levites came and killed some 3000 who sinned. Phinious a Levite,  when the Hebrew sinned in front of all with the women. Ran them through with a spear….He did the will of the Lord. I believe that is why the Levites were chosen and why the Lord said in Malachi 2:4-7 4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts. 5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. 6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. 7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. Levi knew and preformed the will of the Lord.  He is the only man named to have walked with the Lord.  He was at peace with himself, turned many from sin…taught the truth…. Abraham, David, Solomon, Hezekiah all walked before the Lord, only Levi put on the Yoke and walked with the Lord. Just like Enoch and Noah put on the Yoke and walked with God.  (Jesus) Notice these men were preachers of righteousness. Levi was a man of war.  We are the Lords priests today, it is a Spiritual war we fight.  We must put on the full Armor of God and stand fast in our faith. The Kingdom of God is at hand.  You can know, love have a true relationship with Jesus today. Ask for forgiveness,  believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord of your life.  Find out what real peace and joy is. ….Jesus. Posted from WordPress for Android

Man and his Maker : The Filling Station 3

image

Man and his Maker :  The Filling Station 3

I apologize,  I believe the Lord has given me a word about the Trinity in the Old Testament that dovetails with a word about walking with God.

I  find myself wanting to list every scripture that supports my “Billism”, (a truth I see in the Word, that is not taught as such).

First off;  I firmly believe that the Lord in The Old Testament is Yahweh or Jehovah the Everlasting,  Existent One.  The Law giver, known as the Father in the New Testament.

God  the Creator / Supreme Ruler of the Old Testament is Elohim  or Adonai the Supreme Master who we know as Jesus  or Yeshua in the New.

As we look in The Old Testament we find most sacrifices made to the Lord, (because Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice ).   The Lord speaks of Job fearing God and hating evil.  The Lord sees Moses but God speaks.

Almost identical statements spoken by the Lord and then God.  The marked differences in the Spirit of the Lord and the Spirit of God.

I can point you to these and many more verses but what is the point?  Does this mean anything to you and your walk with Jesus?

There are only two people named in the Old Testament that walked with God.  Enoch who walked with God and was not because God took him and Noah, who found grace with the Lord because he walked with God.

Both these men were preachers of righteousness.

Then we have Abraham,  David,  Hezekiah, Samson, Gideon who walked before the Lord or had the Spirit of the Lord come upon them.

These men were all warriors for the Lord.

Moses walked the the way of the Lord.   He was and amazing prophet of the Lord.

Then we have Levi, whom the Lord Himself  said:  “Levi walked with Me.”

That is the story I am struggling to tell.  Is anyone interested?  I believe I know why the Lord has  chosen Levi as His priest.

Man and Maker – The Filling Station 2

image

Just a quick highlight of the Man and Maker interactions in Genesis:

The births and lives of Cain, Able and Seth…
Enoch with Elohim .  He walked with and went home..
The conversations of Noah with Elohim  and Yahweh. ….he pleased Yahweh because he walked with Elohim.  Both would destroy all flesh but Elohim told him the way to survive.
Abram walked before Yahweh for 24 years, met Elohim  and fell on his face in worship, name changed and circumcised. (Sounds like he met Jesus).
Isaac given the promise for Abraham’s sake.
Jacob with both Yahweh and Elohim.
Joseph,  protected and promoted by Yahweh. …given answers to dreams by Elohim.  Pharaoh wanting to know Is there anyone else with the Spirit of Elohim?

These are all instances where the people dealt with and recognized by name both Yahweh and Elohim. (I believe the Father and Son).

Then we come to Moses in Exodus 1:17-20
Careful  reading shows us:
The Hebrews are now slaves, the midwifes have been ordered to kill the newborn boys.

17 However, the midwives feared Elohim and didn’t obey the king of Egypt’s orders. They let the boys live. 18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives. He asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”

19 The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women. They are so healthy that they have their babies before a midwife arrives.”

20 Elohim was good to the midwives. So the people increased in number and became very strong. 21 Because the midwives feared Elohim, he gave them families of their own.

The midwifes fear Elohim, disobeyed Egypts king (he had power to kill), Elohim was good to them and gave them families of their own.

It is always better to obey God then man.

Exodus 2:

Moses grew up in Pharaohs house, killed an Egyptian, fled to desert.

23 After a long time passed, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites still groaned because they were slaves. So they cried out, and their cries for help went up to Elohim. 24 Elohim heard their groaning, and Elohim remembered his promise[a] to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 25 Elohim saw the Israelites being oppressed and was concerned about them.

They prayed to and were heard by Elohim.  Elohim remembered the promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,  saw the oppression and was concerned.

Exodus 3:

Moses at mountain of Elohim,  sees burning bush,  investigates, Yahweh saw, Elohim spoke, Yahweh spoke.

Moses met both Yahweh and Elohim,  we find Yahweh saying:

7 Yahweh said, “I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt, and I have heard them crying out because of the slave drivers. I know how much they’re suffering. 8 I have come to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good land with plenty of room for everyone.

Yahweh saw, heard, come to rescue, will deliver to the promised land.

Moses asked why me what do I say….ect?

Elohim said tell the I Am that I Am sent you.

Here we see Yahweh and Elohim in perfect agreement but speaking slightly different words about what they had seen and would do.  Elohim told him to tell them the Lord God   sent  him.

I often wish our maker had put an and between…this translation writes it  Yahweh our Elohim, or Yahweh your Elohim.

Man and his Maker – The Filling Station 1

image

Man and his Maker:

I’ve been a Christian for over 35 years and for the first 30, when I read the Old Testament, the Lord God was one member of the Trinity.

He was the Father God of the New Testament,  the Old Man frowning down at us from the throne.

The Law giver and judge.  A scary God to be feared and obeyed.

Then I had a revelation:  I remembered the story of Moses and the burning bush:

Exodus 3:1-8. Names of God Bible:  (I use this Bible to emphasis the different names and Natures of the Godhead).

Moses at the Burning Bush

3 Moses was taking care of the sheep of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. As he led the sheep to the far side of the desert, he came to Horeb, the mountain of Elohim.

2 The Messenger of Yahweh appeared to him there as flames of fire coming out of a bush. Moses looked, and although the bush was on fire, it was not burning up. 3 So he thought, “Why isn’t this bush burning up? I must go over there and see this strange sight.”

4 When Yahweh saw that Moses had come over to see it, Elohim called to him from the bush, “Moses, Moses!”

Moses answered, “Here I am!”

5 Elohim said, “Don’t come any closer! Take off your sandals because this place where you are standing is holy ground. 6 I am the Elohim of your ancestors,[a] the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at Elohim.

7 Yahweh said, “I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt, and I have heard them crying out because of the slave drivers. I know how much they’re suffering. 8 I have come to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good land with plenty of room for everyone.

First off  let us look at the Names of God.  Elohim is Hebrew or Chaldee for God the Creator and Supreme Ruler of all.

Yahweh is Hebrew or Chaldee for Lord or the self Existent or Everlasting One.

So in the passage above we have Moses at the mountain of Elohim  (God).  When the Messenger of Yahweh, (The Everlasting One) appeared as flames of fire in a bush that was not consumed.

Whrn Yahweh noticed that  Moses was paying attention,  Elohim called out: “Take off your shoes this is holy ground”.

Elohim explained he was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and Moses hid his face.

Then Yahweh spoke:  “I have seen the misery and heard the cry of the people. I know how and why they are suffering and will rescue them and bring them to a land of milk and honey”.

Moses was the man who knew the Godhead best, he referred to them as Lord and God and Spirit, he knew the three faces or Natures of the Godhead  and spoke of them as individuals.

He told us Eve said the Lord gave her Cain and Able,  they gave offerings to the Lord, the Lord rejected Cains and Cain left the presence of the Lord.

Later she tells us God gave her Seth, Seth had a son named Enosh and then men began to call upon  the name of  (or Worship)  the Lord.

That is what started my quest.  I have been  searching and studying the Word ever since,  determined to understand and share this, to me, a new truth,  or understanding of the Godhead.

I hope you will follow along and be blessed by the experience.

The Filling Station – Genesis 47-50

image

The last few chapters of Genesis there are few mentions of our maker, I will just finish it off with them.

Genesis 47:
No mention.
Genesis 48:
Jacob blesses his sons.

3 Jacob said to Joseph, “El Shadday appeared to me at Luz in Canaan and blessed me. 4 He said to me, ‘I will make you fertile and increase the number of your descendants so that you will become a community of people. I will give this land to your descendants as a permanent possession.’

11 Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see you again, and now Elohim has even let me see your sons.”

15 Then Jacob blessed Joseph,

“May Elohim, in whose presence my grandfather Abraham
    and my father Isaac walked,
may Elohim, who has been my shepherd all my life to this very day,
16 may the Messenger, who has rescued me from all evil,
    bless these boys.
May they be called by my name
and by the names of my grandfather Abraham and my father Isaac.
May they have many children on the earth.”

Genesis 49:
Jacob [Israel] Blesses His 12 Sons

49 Jacob called for his sons and said, “Come here, and let me tell you what will happen to you in the days to come.

2 “Gather around and listen, sons of Jacob.
    Listen to your father Israel.

3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn,
my strength, the very first son I had,
first in majesty and first in power.
4 You will no longer be first
because you were out of control like a flood
and you climbed into your father’s bed.
            Then you dishonored it.
He climbed up on my couch.

5 “Simeon and Levi are brothers.
Their swords[a] are weapons of violence.
6 Do not let me attend their secret meetings.
Do not let me join their assembly.
In their anger they murdered men.
At their whim they crippled cattle.
7 May their anger be cursed because it’s so fierce.
May their fury be cursed because it’s so cruel.
I will divide them among the sons of Jacob
and scatter them among the tribes of Israel.

Judah, your brothers will praise you.
Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies.
Your father’s sons will bow down to you.
9 Judah, you are a lion cub.
You have come back from the kill, my son.
He lies down and rests like a lion.
He is like a lioness. Who dares to disturb him?
10 A scepter will never depart from Judah
nor a ruler’s staff from between his feet
        until Shiloh comes
            and the people obey him.
11 He will tie his donkey to a grapevine,
his colt to the best vine.
He will wash his clothes in wine,
his garments in the blood of grapes.
12 His eyes are darker than wine.
His teeth are whiter than milk.

13 “Zebulun will live by the coast.
He will have ships by the coast.
His border will go as far as Sidon.

14 “Issachar is a strong donkey,
    lying down between the saddlebags.
15 When he sees that his resting place is good
and that the land is pleasant,
he will bend his back to the burden
and will become a slave laborer.

16 “Dan will hand down decisions[b] for his people
as one of the tribes of Israel.
17 Dan will be a snake on a road,
    a viper on a path,
        that bites a horse’s heels
so that its rider falls off backwards.

18 “I wait with hope for you to rescue me, O Yahweh.

19 “Gad will be attacked by a band of raiders,
but he will strike back at their heels.

“Asher’s food will be rich.
He will provide delicacies fit for a king.

21 “Naphtali is a doe set free
    that has beautiful fawns.

22 “Joseph is a fruitful tree,
a fruitful tree by a spring,
with branches climbing over a wall.
23 Archers provoked him,
    shot at him,
        and attacked him.
24 But his bow stayed steady, and his arms remained limber
because of the help of the Mighty One of Jacob,
because of the name of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,
25 because of the El of your father who helps you,
because of the Shadday who gives you
        blessings from the heavens above,
blessings from the deep springs below the ground,
        blessings from breasts and womb.
26 The blessings of your father are greater than
the blessings of the oldest mountains
and the riches of the ancient hills.
May these blessings rest on the head of Joseph,
on the crown of the prince among his brothers.

27 “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf.
In the morning he devours his prey.
In the evening he divides the plunder.”

28 These are the 12 tribes of Israel and what their father said to them when he gave each of them his special blessing.

Genesis 50:

Joseph Forgives His Brothers

15 Joseph’s brothers realized what their father’s death could mean. So they thought, “What if Joseph holds a grudge against us? What if he decides to pay us back for all the evil we did to him?” 16 They sent a messenger to Joseph to say, “Before your father died, he commanded us, 17 ‘This is what you should say to Joseph, “I’m begging you to forgive the crime and the sin your brothers committed against you. What they did to you was very evil.”’ So now, please forgive our crime, because we are servants of your father’s Elohim.” Joseph cried when he got their message.

18 Then his brothers also came and immediately bowed down in front of him. “We are your slaves!” they said.

19 Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid! I can’t take Elohim’s place.20 Even though you planned evil against me, Elohim planned good to come out of it. This was to keep many people alive, as he is doing now. 21 Don’t be afraid! I will provide for you and your children.” In this way he reassured them, setting their minds at ease.

24 At last Joseph said to his brothers, “I’m about to die. Elohim will definitely take care of you and take you out of this land to the land he swore with an oath to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” 25 Joseph made Israel’s sons swear an oath. He said, “Elohim will definitely take care of you. So be sure to carry my bones back with you.”

26 Joseph died when he was 110 years old. His body was embalmed and placed in a coffin in Egypt.

It interests me that Yahweh protected and promoted Joseph,  but Elohim who gave him Wisdom, understanding and knowledge.

They prayed and  spoke of Elohim once Joseph was established.

The Filling Station – Genesis 42-46

Genesis 42:

Joseph’s brothers come to Egypt to find food….Joseph jails one and sends them home to bring back their younger brother.

Genesis 43,44

No man and maker interactions, few mentions of Elohim.

Genesis 45:

Joseph Reveals His Identity

3 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?” His brothers could not answer him because they were afraid of him.

4 “Please come closer to me,” Joseph said to his brothers. When they did so, he said, “I am Joseph, the brother you sold into slavery in Egypt! 5 Now, don’t be sad or angry with yourselves that you sold me.Elohim sent me ahead of you to save lives. 6 The famine has been in the land for two years. There will be five more years without plowing or harvesting. 7 Elohim sent me ahead of you to make sure that you would have descendants on the earth and to save your lives in an amazing way. 8 It wasn’t you who sent me here, but Elohim. He has made me like a father to Pharaoh, lord over his entire household, and ruler of Egypt.

9 “Hurry back to my father, and say to him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says, “Elohim has made me lord of Egypt

Genesis 46:

Jacob’s [Israel’s] Seventh Encounter with God

46 Israel moved with all he had. When he came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the Elohim of his father Isaac.

2 Elohim spoke to Israel in a vision that night and said, “Jacob, Jacob!”

“Here I am,” he answered.

3 “I am El, the Elohim of your father,” he said. “Don’t be afraid to go to Egypt, because I will make you a great nation there. 4 I will go with you to Egypt, and I will make sure you come back again. Joseph will close your eyes when you die.”

30 Israel said to Joseph, “Now that I’ve seen for myself that you’re still alive, I’m ready to die.”

31 Then Joseph said to his brothers and his father’s family, “I’m going to Pharaoh to tell him, ‘My brothers and my father’s family, who were in Canaan, have come to me. 32 The men are shepherds. They take care of livestock. They’ve brought their flocks and herds and everything they own.’ 33 Now, when Pharaoh calls for you and asks, ‘What kind of work do you do?’ 34 you must answer, ‘We have taken care of herds all our lives, as our ancestors have done.’ You must say this so that you may live in the region of Goshen, because all shepherds are disgusting to Egyptians.”

The Filling Station – Genesis 40,41

Genesis 40:

Joseph in Prison

40 Later the king’s cupbearer[a] and his baker offended their master, the king of Egypt. 2 Pharaoh was angry with his chief cupbearer and his chief baker. 3 He put them in the prison of the captain of the guard, the same place where Joseph was a prisoner. 4 The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them.

“We both had dreams,” they answered him, “but there’s no one to tell us what they mean.”

“Isn’t Elohim the only one who can tell what they mean?” Joseph asked them. “Why don’t you tell me all about them.”

Joseph knew he was blessed by Yahweh but Elohim would show him the dreams.  This knowledge eventually brought him before Pharaoh.

Genesis 41:

Joseph Interprets Pharaoh’s Dreams

41 After two full years Pharaoh had a dream.

8 In the morning he was so upset that he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could tell him what they meant.

9 Then the chief cupbearer[a] spoke to Pharaoh, “I remember a promise I failed to keep.[

14 Then Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and immediately he was brought from the prison. After he had shaved and changed his clothes, he came in front of Pharaoh.

15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can tell me what it means. I heard that when you are told a dream, you can say what it means.”

16 Joseph answered Pharaoh, “I can’t, but Elohim can give Pharaoh the answer that he needs.”

25 Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “Pharaoh had the same dream twice.Elohim has told Pharaoh what he’s going to do.

28 “It’s just as I said to Pharaoh. Elohim has shown Pharaoh what he’s going to do. 29 Seven years are coming when there will be plenty of food in Egypt. 30 After them will come seven years of famine. People will forget that there was plenty of food in Egypt, and the famine will ruin the land. 31 People won’t remember that there once was plenty of food in the land, because the coming famine will be so severe. 32 The reason Pharaoh has had a recurring dream is because the matter has been definitely decided by Elohim, and he will do it very soon.

Joseph Advises Pharaoh

50 Before the years of famine came, Joseph had two sons by Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest from the city of On. 51 Joseph named his firstborn son Manasseh [He Helps Me Forget], because Elohim helped him forget all his troubles and all about his father’s family. 52 He named the second son Ephraim [Blessed Twice With Children], because Elohim gave him children in the land where he had suffered.

Yahweh protected and promoted him, Elohim gave him words of wisdom and knowledge.
Elohim helped him to forget and gave him children.

The Filling Station – Genesis 36,37

image

Once again I remind you,  this study is about the interaction between man and the Lord (Yahweh) and God ( Elohim ).

Genesis 36:
The story of Esau…no interaction.

Genesis 37:
Joseph sold into slavery.

Joseph’s Brothers Sell Him into Slavery

37 Jacob continued to live in the land of Canaan, where his father had lived.

2 This is the account of Jacob and his descendants.

Joseph was a seventeen-year-old young man. He took care of the flocks with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. Joseph told his father about the bad things his brothers were doing.

3 Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons because Joseph had been born in Israel’s old age. So he made Joseph a special robe with long sleeves. 4 Joseph’s brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them. They hated Joseph and couldn’t speak to him on friendly terms.

5 Joseph had a dream and when he told his brothers, they hated him even more. 6 He said to them, “Please listen to the dream I had. 7 We were tying grain into bundles out in the field, and suddenly mine stood up. It remained standing while your bundles gathered around my bundle and bowed down to it.”

8 Then his brothers asked him, “Are you going to be our king or rule us?” They hated him even more for his dreams and his words.
9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream: I saw the sun, the moon, and 11 stars bowing down to me.”

Jacob’s Fifth Encounter with God

35 Then Elohim said to Jacob, “Go to Bethel and live there. Make an altar there. I am the El who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”

I just point you to Psalm 105:19, speaking of Joseph.

“Yahweh’s promise tested him through fiery trials
    until his prediction came true.”

God spoke to Jacob, the Lord gave Joseph his dream l

Genesis 35:

Jacob’s Fifth Encounter with God

35 Then Elohim said to Jacob, “Go to Bethel and live there. Make an altar there. I am the El who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”

5 As they moved on, Elohim made the people of the cities that were all around them terrified so that no one pursued them. 6 Jacob and all the people who were with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan. 7 He built an altar there and called that place El Bethel [God of the House of God]. That’s where Elohim had revealed himself to Jacob when he was fleeing from his brother. 8 Rebekah’s nurse Deborah died and was buried under the oak tree outside Bethel. So Jacob called it the Tree of Crying.

Jacob’s Sixth Encounter with God—His Name Changed to Israel

9 Then Elohim appeared once more to Jacob after he came back from Paddan Aram, and he blessed him. 10 Elohim said to him, “Your name is Jacob. You will no longer be called Jacob, but your name will be Israel.” So he named him Israel.

11 Elohim also said to him, “I am El Shadday. Be fertile, and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from you. 12 I will give you the land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac. I will also give this land to your descendants.”13 Then Elohim went up from him at the place where he had spoken with him. 14 So Jacob set up a memorial, a stone marker, to mark the place where Elohim had spoken with him. He poured a wine offering and olive oil on it. 15 Jacob named the place where Elohim had spoken with him Bethel [House of God].
(El Shadday – Almighty God )

Jacob had 12 sons.

23 The sons of Leah were
Jacob’s firstborn Reuben, then Simeon,
Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

24 The sons of Rachel were
Joseph and Benjamin.
25 The sons of Rachel’s slave Bilhah were
Dan and Naphtali.
26 The sons of Leah’s slave Zilpah were
Gad and Asher.

These were Jacob’s sons, who were born in Paddan Aram.

27 Jacob came home to his father Isaac to Mamre’s city, Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron). Abraham and Isaac had lived there for a while.28 Isaac was 180 years old 29 when he took his last breath and died. He joined his ancestors in death at a very old age. His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

Note: In Genesis 31:3
Then Yahweh said to Jacob, “Go back to the land of your ancestors and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

The Lord sent him back, after that he met Elohim,  God.
