Except the Lord! theunfetteredpreacher

Psalm 127:1-2

“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”

Except the Lord quickens my Spirit, I have little to share.

It has been 5 days since I have written a post. Why has the Lord not quickened me?

Because He gives His beloved sleep. Yes, I have spent most of this week, sleeping. When I sleep, my body doesn’t hurt, unless it hurts too much to allow sleep.

So with the help of Tylenol and other pain pills, I have slept. My arthritis in my feet and knees has made it hard to do much of anything, so I sleep.

I pray this flare up and this corona-19 will run its course so the world can return to sanity.

So I hope you are more spiritual than I and are doing well in the time.

The Called, The Chosen, and Those He Draws Close: theunfetteredpreacher

We the people can be broken down into 3 groups:

The Called:

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3-4)

We are all called, the Lord would have all of us come to the knowledge of saving grace of Christ.

The Chosen:

For many are called, but few are chosen. (Matthew 22:14)

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

When we open the door of our hearts to allow Christ access, we become His Chosen. We become Sons of God, Forgiven, Blameless, without Blemish, Justified. (Just as if we had never sinned).

Oh, the joy unspeakable and full of glory. (1 Peter 1:8). This is where most of the Sons of God live. We attend Church, Bible Studies, join the choir, help with all the tasks that need to be done for the body.

We begin to put a new man, we put on Christ. (Ephesians 4:24; Galatians 3:27)

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. (Ephesians 1:4 Amplified)

He has done His part, have we done ours? We have been chosen, are we set apart, consecrated to Him?

We are Forgiven, blameless, above reproach if we stand before Him, covered in His precious blood.

Then there are those whom He draws close:

Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. (Psalms 65:4)

He causes some to draw closer to Himself. If we look at the Hebrews in the desert, we see the majority of His people camped, quite far from where the Tabernacle was set up. (Numbers 2:2)

The Levites and Priests worked within the courtyard, food and drink supplied by people’s sacrifices.

Then you had Moses, twice, 40 days with no food or drink. Taken care of by God, while in His presence.

The Anointing: theunfetteredpreacher

Should we Seek the Anointing for our lives, for our Service to God? Yes, definitely.

In the Old Testament, they would Anoint or Consecrate (separate out), a place, a thing or even the High Priest for Holy or Sacred use.

Every firstborn male was to be dedicated to the Lord, for His use and pleasure.

What?

Exodus 13:15
Names of God Bible (NOG)
When Pharaoh was too stubborn to let us go, Yahweh killed every firstborn male in Egypt—human and animal. This is why we sacrifice every firstborn male to Yahweh and buy every firstborn son back from the Lord.
(Buyback, they paid a price to the Lord for their firstborn a form of sacrifice, of dedication to the Lord.)

The Lord wanted people dedicated to serving Him. He chose the tribe of Levi, of Moses because both Levi and Moses did His will instinctively. (Stood tall and acted on the behalf of others)

Later, the Levites became the substitute for the firstborn males. So Moses’ brother, Aaron became the first high priest.

Exodus 28:41
And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

Today, we Christians are to be the ones Anointed, Consecrated, Set Apart for His Service.

1 Peter 2:9
Names of God Bible (NOG)
However, you are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, people who belong to God. You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

What happens to the Anointed, Consecrated, Sanctified to God?

Saul was given a new heart by God and other signs followed.

1 Samuel 10:1
[ Saul Anointed by Samuel ] “Samuel took a flask of olive oil, poured it on Saul’s head, kissed him, and said, “Yahweh* has anointed you to be ruler of his people Israel. You will rule his people and save them from all their enemies. This will be the sign that Yahweh has anointed you to be ruler of his people.” *(KJV: the Lord)

1 Samuel 10:9-10
Names of God Bible (NOG)
Saul’s Anointing Confirmed by Signs

When Saul turned around to leave Samuel, Elohim changed Saul’s attitude*. That day all these signs happened. When Saul came to the hill, a group of prophets came to meet him, and the Ruach Elohim** came over him. He prophesied with them.”*(KJV: God gave Saul a new heart.) **(KJV: Spirit of God)

David received the Anointing.

1 Samuel 16:13
Samuel took the flask of olive oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers. The Ruach Yahweh came over David and stayed with him from that day on. Then Samuel left for Ramah.”

The Spirit of the Lord came over and stayed with David, from that time onward.

Saints, should we not desire this in our lives?

Do we not need the comfort, guidance, teaching, and leading of the Holy Spirit to do the Work of the Lord?

The Anointing is ours to be used for His Service if we only obey and believe.

Psalm 45:7

Names of God Bible (NOG)

You have loved what is right and hated what is wrong.

That is why Elohim, your Elohim, has anointed you, rather than your companions, with the oil of joy.

Hebrews 1:9
Names of God Bible (NOG)
You have loved what is right and hated what is wrong.
That is why God, your God,
anointed you, rather than your companions, with the oil of joy.”

The Anointing, the OIL OF JOY… who doesn’t want joy in their lives? David prayed, “Return unto me, the JOY of THY SALVATION. “

Saints, Christians seem to think they choose the Anointed, Baptists, seem to hire and fire at will.

They are happy to bring in or kick out whoever, they choose to lead them, in their church.

Sorry folks, the building isn’t the church, you are, and you are not in charge of who leads you.

You may choose to follow Gods Anointed, or not, but it is God that places the anointed one, the leader of His flock.

Psalm 132:10
Names of God Bible (NOG)
For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your anointed one.”

Psalm 105:15
Names of God Bible (NOG)
Do not touch my anointed ones
or harm my prophets.

Isaiah 61:1-2
Names of God Bible (NOG)
The Lord Will Anoint His Servant with His Spirit

The Ruach of Adonay Yahweh is with me
because Yahweh has anointed me
to deliver good news to humble people.
He has sent me
to heal those who are brokenhearted,
to announce that captives will be set free
and prisoners will be released.
He has sent me
to announce the year of Yahweh’s goodwill
and the day of our Elohim’s vengeance,
to comfort all those who grieve.”

The Spirit of the Lord was with Jesus, had Anointed Jesus, to spread the Gospel, to heal the brokenhearted, to set free those bound up, chained, lost in sin and death.

To proclaim the Good News, God with us, the hope of glory. That we can walk with the Lord, as Adam did, in the cool of the day. We can live in and enjoy the presence of God.

IT MAKES ME WANT TO SHOUT.

Jesus said:

John 14:12-14

Names of God Bible (NOG)
I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I am going to the Father.

I will do anything you ask the Father in my name so that the Father will be given glory because of the Son.

If you ask me to do something, I will do it.”

We are the Anointed of God in the world today. We need to learn to live in the Spirit, to operate in the Spirit, to believe and receive the blessings of God, The Anointing of the Spirit.

(Don’t be a fire blanket, stoke the fire, feed the fire, become the fire… Let the ZEAL OF THE LORD CONSUME YOU!)

His will may be done.

It will not happen if we continue on in our own power.

We need Jesus Christ himself in charge by the Power of His Holy Spirit. Allow Him to work in you, now, today is the day…. Amen

In the last few weeks, there seems to be a new epidemic. Formerly clean-shaven preachers growing facial hair.

I have had my beard for over 35 years. (No brag, just fact). So it is nice to see other men of God, finally receive the revelation. Beards are Cool.

The Price of the Panic: theunfetteredpreacher

The third week of zero income. The phone bill just about empties our checking account. Lights and the internet are due next. The Lord Will Provide.

I recently discovered the Verses in Romans 3:1-3

“Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision? Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the oracles of God. For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?”

The Jews were entrusted with the Word of God, now it is our responsibility. How are we doing?

I do not believe we have a clue, what the Word says, means or how to earnestly live in it. The Word created all things, it was spoken, it was done and it was good. (Genisis 1) Jesus told us:

John 14:10-14

‘Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these because I am going to my Father. Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.’

Jesus was and is our example. The Words and Works He did were the Fathers Works. If He used the Fathers Words to accomplish His Works, how much more should we?

Being entrusted with His Words is more than being Saved and living a clean life. No, we are called to perform His Works through the use of His Words. This entails more than a passing acquaintance with the Book. We must know and speak its truth.

We have no power, no ability to Walk in His ways if we are not immersed in His Words.

Saints, I can not emphasize how important it is to know and speak His truth. That is what will build the body of Christ, and ultimately bring us the rest and peace that passes understanding. The Lord would have us prosper and be in good health as our soul prospers. (3 John 2)

We the Sheeple: theunfetteredpreacher

For the safety of the public:

My business is closed.

My church is closed.

The restaurants are closed.

I stay at home.

The only places making money are:

The grocery store.

The hardware store.

The chain restaurants with a drive-through built-in.

Smaller restaurants that changed to take out and delivery.

We have traded Liberty for Security.

It seems to me Ben Franklin warned us about this.

He said: ‘We deserve neither.’

Saints, we will have the fight of our lives, to regain our Freedom. I pray we have enough Patriots to win it back.

Our Advantage, The Word! theunfetteredpreacher

Paul wrote the Jews have an advantage over all other people because they had the Word of the Lord. The Promise of God:

After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, ‘Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.‘” (Genesis 15:1)

That is our Word also, the Lord is our help and our shield, our sun, and shield, he gives us grace and glory, no good thing will He withhold, from them who walk uprightly. (Ps 84)

As Christians, the Word of God is our secret weapon. So secret most Christians don’t know it or how to use it.

It amazes me that we know we must believe and confess to be saved, yet fail to believe and confess for healing, for fear, uncertainty, financial and other people’s problems.

The Word is quick, powerful, and sharper than a double-edged sword. (Hebrews 4:12). It can discern our thoughts and intents.

When we pray, do we believe and pray the promises in the Word? Psalms 23, 84, 115, 91. All have promises we can and should pray.

One I pray for myself is Psalm 51, Create in me a clean heart, renew a right spirit within me. The Lord can and will answer the prayers of His saints.

If we pray according to His will. Not prayers for selfish, prideful reasons, but instead, for His will to be done, His glory to be revealed.

We have access to His blessings, power, grace, and love by knowing His Word and will.

Do we believe it?

Romans 3:1-4

‘Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision? Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God? May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written,

“That you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment.”‘

Do we have faith, will our words prevail, will we be justified?

We have been entrusted with His Word, to share, to teach, to fight and be victorious over our enemies. Are we conversant in the Word of Faith? The good news of the Gospel?

“They were entrusted with the oracles of God.” theunfetteredpreacher

Romans 3:1-2

“Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?

Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the oracles of God.”

This scripture talks about the advantages of being Jewish, the profit of circumcision. Why were they so blessed?

Because the Lord had entrusted them with His WORD.

Times have changed, it is no longer only the Jews that have His Word, we Christians have been grafted into the family.

We have received a new name, our hearts have been circumcised, our minds have been renewed. We are holy, blameless in the beloved, set apart for His service.

Since we have been given His Word, it is incumbent for us to learn to live it. It is the knowing, and hearing as well as praying of the Word that increases our Faith.

The Lord has entrusted His Power and Love to us, in the form of His Word. It was the Word spoken, that caused the world and all that is to appear.

We must believe and confess for salvation and to experience the healing and miracle power of God. Only Believe, all things are possible to those who believe.

The question is, do we know what we believe? We would if we knew His Word.

A Man with the Spirit of God: theunfetteredpreacher

Genesis 41:38. “Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?”

What the world is longing and looking for. A man in whom the Spirit of God is.

This is an interesting choice of words, to have faith, we must believe God is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

The Spirit of God was with within Joseph, God gave Joseph a Word of Knowledge and a Word of Wisdom. …the explanation of Pharaoh’s dream and what to do about it. Pharaoh recognized the Spirit of God. He marveled and accepted it and the Egyptians were prepared for the coming climate change.

As we read about Joseph the Lord was there all the time.

Born from prayer:

Genesis 30:24. she called his name Joseph; and said, The Lord shall add to me another son.

As a child, God gave him prophetic dreams and he was his Father’s favorite. His eleven brothers hated him, sold him into slavery. Where he prospered.

Genesis 39:2 the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man, and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

Genesis 39:5. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

As a top slave, his Master’s wife tried to entice him into sexual sin. When he refused, she accused him of rape and he was sent to prison.

Genesis 39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

While in prison, God gave him interpretations of dreams which finally brought him before Pharaoh. The Word tells us the Lord was with him but he recognized and prayed to God. (see the Trinity in the Old Testament)

Genesis 4 0:8. “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me about your dreams.”

Genesis 41:16 “I cannot do it,” “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.”

Genesis 41:51 Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.”

When his brothers came to find food because of the draught, Joseph’s prophetic dreams came true and he sent for his family.

Genesis 42:18 “Do this and you will live, for I fear God:”

Genesis 45:9 “God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don’t delay.“

Joseph had the Spirit of God within him from birth. He was open and obedient to God, walked with God, which caused the Lord to be with him and for him to prosper in all that he did.

If we would learn the simple truth; “to obey is better than sacrifice” and do it. I believe we would find ourselves as leaders causing all those around us to proper in the blessings of God.

Jesus please, help me to walk with you, to be obedient to Your will.

The Writing Bug: theunfetteredpreacher

I have always loved to read, and have had a desire to write. The biggest hurdles to achieving this goal were threefold.

1. I could not spell

2. I could not read my own handwriting and the most important reason:

3. I had nothing to say

After I was saved, I had the Preaching bug. I was sure I was the ‘new’ Jimmy Swaggart. I wasn’t, I turned around and no one was following.

In 2014, things changed. I bought my first Tablet. I still couldn’t spell, but the other problems were behind me. Plus I had my calendar and a camera with me at all times.

I started to write: A bold look at the Trinity in the Old Testament. Where / Who, was Jesus. I found someone to edit my writing, she suggested I start a blog. (My writing, did not impress).

I had never read a blog or had any interest in writing on the internet, I was a book guy. After much prayer, I felt the Lord was leading me in that direction.

My fleece? The name I desired be available. ‘the unfettered preacher’. It was, I began. In the 9 months left in 2014, I had 1500 visits to my blog… Wow, I was sure I found my calling.

Since then, my best year was 2016, 3980 visitors 13 thousand views with 8600 likes. I was impressed.

Then the numbers decreased. I wondered, did anyone actually read these posts? Was my writing doing any good at all? Was anyone brought closer to Christ?

After all, that was why I wrote, with the hope that lives would be given to the Lord.

I am still wondering. What say you?

How ‘I Am’ became ‘Once Was’: theunfetteredpreacher

One of my posts from the first year of this blog. Sadly not much has changed.

(Or how the church lost the Power of God)

Some might say this is blasphemy. (“Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.”) But unfortunately, it is the truth.

We no longer preach the Great “I AM”. The church is weak, ineffective, ingrown. ” Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Not my church,” you say.

I ask, do our churches really measure up to the early church? ” He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” They had no building, pulpits, children’s ministry, teen ministry, homeless ministry.

They had the POWER OF GOD and He added to the church daily such as should be saved. Be honest if someone comes into the church with a contagious disease, we are more likely to say you should have stayed home till you feel better. When we should say “Be healed in the name of Jesus.”

What are we to do?

God heard the cries and groaning of the Hebrew captives in Egypt because they were in bondage and He remembered His promise to Abraham.

Moses hiding in the desert, turned aside to see a burning bush. The Lord saw and God said; ” Take off your shoes, you are on Holy Ground”.

The first step in the transformation of “I AM” to “He Was” is that we really do not treat the Lord’s presence as Holy anymore. I am not a clothesline preacher…if you are at the beach…..beach clothes are certainly fine for church. I am more concerned with our attitudes. Do we understand Reverence, Sanctity, Praise, Meditation, Worship?

God heard our cries and groaning when we were trapped in the bondage of sin and shame. He desires us to pay attention to whatever our personal burning bush is and take off our shoes; this means, set ourselves apart, present ourselves a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. Our minds should be renewed by reading God’s Word. Then we will know the good, acceptable and perfect will of God.

When we enter the church, we should think of it as turning aside to see our burning bush…. Entering into the presence of God.

The second step in the transformation is how we introduce God.

Moses asked God: “Who should I say sent me?” God answered: “Tell them I AM THAT I AM sent you.”

God is the Great “I AM”; He performed signs, wonders and miracles to free the Hebrews so that the Egyptians would: “see, know, consider, understand and believe that the Lord “IS” and he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

When Jesus was on the earth He performed signs, wonders, and miracles and sent His disciples to do the same. For the same reason: So people would “see, know, consider, understand and believe that Jesus is and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

He promised that “these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”

When Jesus sent out the 12 they cast out devils and healed the sick. At The Day of Pentecost, they spoke with new tongues. …had a boldness to preach, they had power and knowledge to handle the Serpent, the devil and God confirmed the Word with signs following.

So what happened?

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works;”

The signs and wonders have grown scarce. We have too many wonderful speakers and not enough dedicated seekers.

I am not saying we don’t love the Lord. Just that we have forgotten what it means to walk with the Lord. To seek His face and will, in all that we do.

We are afraid our prayers will not be answered, we don’t want to say He doesn’t do that anymore, we want to believe but we don’t really know how to reach the Holy of Holies. We can tho. …

The church can and will have power again, when we fast, pray, meditate, praise and above all learn to Worship and share the Great “I AM”. “He is a very present help in times of trouble. ” “Ask, ye shall receive, seek, and you will find, knock, and the door will be opened.

ps.
Have you ever wondered if the gifts of the Spirit might be the talents that the Master left for us to increase till His return? A lot of churches have buried those talents.

Peppermint Chapsticks: December 14, 2015 theunfetteredpreacher

As you can see this post was first written in 2015. My sweet wife and her Peppermint Chap Sticks.

Well, today (4/2/2020), I found her stash of Dove chocolates.

Dove chocolates. I love them too. (Good work Sweetheart)!

“Seek and ye shall find.”

My wife apparently loves Peppermint Chapsticks, she discovered them a few years ago.

Unbeknownst to me, this year, she remembered she couldn’t find them last year.
(She thought). Soooo…

image

A few weeks ago, she saw some and bought 3, 3 packs. (9 total), and happily brought her treasure home.

Only to find she had 18 already in her favorite hiding place. (Why hide them, I hate Chapsticks).

Valuables out in the open, chapsticks.

Aren’t we all a little bit like this? We parade around in our nice clothing and jewelry and we hide the truly valuable.

Christ within, the hope of glory.”

A lot of things can be stolen from us but: “Who can separate us, from the love of Christ?”

He is the pearl of great price; We should wear Him with pride. Strut your stuff, let all behold God’s love, mercy, and grace. Let your life, lift up Christ.

The Man Plan: theunfetteredpreacher

Another old post revisited:

What is the MAN PLAN, and why is it so destructive?

First off, the MAN PLAN can be summed up in one sentence.

It’s ok God, I’ve got it from here.”

image

(Yes, I know a good plan when I see it. Hey somebody let me down).

Whenever we take over for God, death and destruction follow. So how do we take over?…and “death and destruction, really?”

Indeed:

Here are several examples of MAN PLANS, that are with good intentions, used to try to enlarge the Church or bring in needed finances.

Remember these are MAN PLANS, the Lord may have allowed the first, but I doubt He sanctions any after that.

~ Bake Sales, car washes, craft sales, bingo, lucky sevens, kissing booths, gambling nights, church suppers, …ect.

You get the idea. Many of these are great ideas for fellowship, the introduction of the unbeliever to believers and just a generally good time. But they are not a “GOD PLAN.”

The Lord told us His plan:

~ Go and teach all Nations, the Gospel of the Kingdom.
~ Feed His Sheep.
~ Wait till you receive the Power of the Holy Spirit.
~ Preach the Word, Heal the Sick, Comfort the Broken Hearted, cause the Lame to Walk, the Blind to See, the Deaf to Hear.

We can only do His work through the Power of the Holy Spirit. We must rely on the Words of Wisdom and Knowledge, the Gift of Faith, the Working of Miracles, the Gifts of Healings, Discerning of Spirits, Prophecy, Tongues, and Interpretation of Tongues.

Saints, The Lord sent His Holy Spirit to teach, guide, comfort and empower us for His Work.

If words alone could do the job, then Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Daniel, Joseph, Jesus Himself, Peter, Paul, John, and Steven would have just talked people into the Kingdom.

“You Know,” it took more than just words.

The secret things belong to the Lord, but what He has revealed is for us to use, to grow His Church. Deuteronomy 29:29

He tells us in Isaiah 43:10-11, why miracles, signs, and wonders. To be His hands, His Servants.

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me, there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me, there is no savior.”

John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

Quit the MAN PLANS and ask the Lord, HIS PLAN. Then do it.

image

Go forth and do greater works, in the Power and Direction of the Holy Spirit.

Why we like Man’s Plan: theunfetteredpreacher

This post was written in 2016, seems appropriate today:

There are good reasons we tend to go with our MAN PLAN, rather than Gods. Even after we are saved, we are more old man, then new.

Salvation is just the start of our Sanctification, (separation unto God’s service).

We need to deliberately draw closer to God, to allow the Holy Spirit to change us from our innermost man.

We tend to shy away from change.

(Man, trying to hide….God sees you.)

The MAN PLAN is our natural state. The reasons we like MANS PLAN:

~ We see immediate results.

~ We can control, change the plan as needed.

~ We get the credit.

~ We are active, busy, seen and noticed.

There is a decided difference when working on God’s plan. The problem with Gods plan is:

~ Results come in God’s time, not ours.

~ We do not always see the results.

~ We have no control.

~ We cannot take credit.

~ This kind comes by prayer and fasting.

It is much harder for our natural man to let go and let God. (We think He needs our help, our input).

We want busy hands, we have no time to reflect, separate ourselves, pray, be dedicated to true service, Worship, Praise, Meditation,

It is against our natural inclination to sit at the feet of Jesus and serve Him as He serves us.

Martha and Mary are our examples:

Luke 10:38-42
King James Version (KJV)
Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Is the work of seeking God hard? Do our friends think we are lazy, unproductive, shiftless? Yup, most likely.

I wonder if Martha had sat with Mary, would Jesus have had all she was worried about taken care of?

Of course, He could have. We just don’t believe He will.

He fed the 5,000, healed the sick, raised the dead.

He is willing and able to fulfill all our needs, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

The House we build: theunfetteredpreacher

2 Samuel 7:1-2

“And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.”

These verses just stuck with me. The Lord had given David rest from his enemies. Today if we are in Christ, we are in a place of rest, if we walk with Him and do His, instead of our will.

What touches my heart is David’s desire to build a permanent house for the Lord God.

Do you have the desire to be closer to, more obedient, more useful to the Kingdom of God? We decide and are in control of all these things. Are we building a suitable house for the Lord?

Our bodies are the Temples of God:

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

We should have a desire to be a Temple the Lord would be comfortable in.

That means a Holy, Sacrificial life, a life lived for the Lord. We will never live a sinless life, but the ‘Lord can help us to live a blameless life.’

We live a blameless life only when our lives are God-centered, when we love mercy, do justly and walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8)

That only happens when we have accepted the Yoke of Jesus.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Remember Peter told us who we are. Do you walk in this truth?

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:8-10)

Which brings us to a place of satisfaction, through the goodness of God’s house, even of His Holy Temple. We must be chosen and approach God, (accept the Yoke of Jesus). (Psalms 64:5)

We would begin to live within the boundaries of Psalms 23,87,91,115 and more. Our God desires to take care of and bless us.

He will Chastain the disobedient, until they repent, and turn to God to receive forgiveness. He would have all come into the knowledge of His Love.

Powerful Biblical Prayers: Davids Prayer theunfetteredpreacher

As King David had fought and won peace for the people Israel. There was rest throughout the kingdom. David asked Nathan the Prophet if he should build a house for the Lord?

Nathan said yes, build a house for the Lord, it is a good thing.

That night, Nathan received a word from the Lord.

Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?
(2 Samuel 7:5-7)

Nathan was reminded, the Lord to that time, had never asked for a permanent house be built for Him. He was satisfied with the Tabernacle made of tents and a moveable alter.

His concern was the people be fed. (Peter, feed my sheep).

The Lord said David a man of war, could not build His house, but the Lord would raise up a son, worthy of this honor.

Solomon was the original son, anointed, to build the house of the Lord, but not the permanent house, that Son of David is Jesus.

Jesus is the cornerstone of the Lord’s Church. It isn’t a Church of cedar or stone, but a Spiritual Church born of the Power of God.

Davids prayer:

2 Samuel 7:18-29

“Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

For thy word’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.”

His prayer, like the prayer of Moses, asks who am I? Why would you use me? I am not worthy, why have you chosen my family for this honor.

We should also compare this prayer with the Prayer taught to the Disciples. We have called it the Lord’s prayer, we recite it without hearing or understanding it’s power.

The Lord is Praised, thanked, recognized as God. His will is done, not ours, His provision and power is recognized.

He again is blessed His Word recognized as true, His blessings proclaimed.

We should pray as David did and as the Lord taught the Disciples. We would find our prayers powerful, meaningful and profitable.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly? Or The Called, the Chosen, the Faithful: theunfetteredpreacher

The best rendition of the title tune from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly I’ve heard was from the ‘Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain’. Watch and listen here; (https://youtu.be/pLgJ7pk0X-s)

This post isn’t about those three, I direct your attention to ‘The Called, and Chosen and Faithful’.

“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:14)

I am convinced that Matthew 25 is giving as a lesson of being called, chosen and faithful.

The Called:

Matthew 25:1-13 The Parable of the wise and foolish Virgins.

The 10 Virgins were called to the wedding of the Master. The wise brought extra oil for their lamps while the foolish did not. As the Master delayed His return they all slept.

When the Master arrived the foolish realized they did not have enough oil to enter the wedding supper. They attempted to get oil from the wise but had to leave to find oil.

The Wise (those who were ready), entered with the Master and when the foolish returned, they were denied entrance. They were not prepared for His Coming.

The Chosen:

The Parable of the Talents: Matthew 25:14-30

The Master, before he left for a far country, brought his servants together and gave them Talents according to their abilities. To one he gave 5, to one 2, and to one, 1. When he returned he asked what was done with the Talents.

The one with 5 had increased them to 10, the one with 2, to 4, the one with 1, had hidden the 1, and only had that to return.

No excuses were accepted, the two that had increased their Talents were praised and given more responsibilities. The one who hid the Talent was banished to outer darkness.

The Faithful:

Matthew 25:31-46 The Parable of the Sheep and Goats.

The end of time, all are gathered to the judgment, the Sheep are those who did the will of the Lord.

“For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

These are the Sheep, who were welcomed into the Kingdom, the Goats had done none of the above and were condemned to everlasting fire.

This chapter of Matthew has been taught many times, about being ready, being wise with money, and obedience. I would like to direct your thoughts to the Spiritual.

The oil is the Anointing of the Holy Spirit, we must spend time with Him being continually filled with His Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18). The called.

Walking with Him, in His Yoke, and enter the feast.

The Talents, the Reformation Bible Study says of talents:

The English word “talent” meaning a natural endowment or special ability is derived from this parable.

Let us look beyond money, Jesus did not leave us money to build His Church, but the Gifts of the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12-14; Romans 12:6-9; and Ephesians 4:12-16)

The one talent I believe is the Gift of our prayer language.

1 Corinthians 14:2

“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”

It is both the simplest Gift to acquire and the Gift most rejected. People will not give their mind and mouth to the Lord. (Very sad).

People do not understand the difference between our prayer language, where we talk in private to God and tongues and interpretation, which is a public Gift.

I believe all would accept any or all of the other Gifts, but when they reject the first given, it may hinder the acceptance of the rest.

Please do not bury the Talent, the Lord would have you to increase, ask for all the Lord would give you to increase the Kingdom. The chosen.

The Sheep and Goats. The easiest way to compare is the Sheep follow, while Goats always BUTT.

The Sheep accept all the Lord says and gives. While the Goats question whether these things be possible?

Luke 18:27

“And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

Saints we need to act on the impossible, trust the Lord, Walk with Him and Build the Church of God.

“With signs and wonders, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Preach the Full Gospel of God.” (Romans 15:19)

The Promise of the Holy Ghost: theunfetteredpreacher

The Holy Ghost, the Breath, the wind, the life of the Trinity. The Father and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit (Ghost), after the Resurrection, to give us the power and tools to build His Church. (Acts 2)

The Holy Ghost:

The Spirit of truth. (John14:17;15:26)

The Holy Spirit (Ghost) is the comforter, and teacher and a reminder of His will. (John 14:26;15:26)

The Spirit searches all things. (1 Corinthians 2:10)

The comforter reproves the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He is the Spirit of truth, He will guide us, and show us things to come. (John 16:7-13)

The Spirit helps our infirmities, making intercession for us. For we know not what we should pray. (Romans 8:26)

The Holy Ghost is given to them who obey Him. (Acts 5:32)

The Holy Ghost can forbid us to preach to some, and send us to others (Acts 16:6;18:25-27)

The Holy Spirit by signs, wonders, miracles and the Gifts of the Spirit gives us the witness of His will. (Hebrews 2:4)

We can find rest, if we avoid the evil heart of unbelief, and trust in Him. (Hebrews 3: 6-12)

The Holy Spirit moves holy men to prophecy. (1 Peter 1:21)

The Promise of the Holy Spirit is the Promise of Christ in us, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27)

The Gifts of the Spirit, the indwelling of the Spirit, the Power of the Spirit, has been given to the Church to build His body.

How’s that working for us?

If we recognize that Matthew 25, (watch for a post explaining this), is all about us and the Holy Spirit, the Talents the Lord left us is obviously not money, but the Gifts of the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12-14; Romans 12:6-9; Ephesians 4:11-16)

We must pray the Lord, calls us to a closer walk, the wisdom and grace to use the power He has given to those who believe, to build His Church.
