Faith is given to us by measure. (Romans 12:3), it is something that must be nurtured, built up, encouraged, (Jude 1:20). The Shunammite woman is a wonderful example of what Faith is.
2 Kings 4:8-37 The Shunammite woman:
A great woman, a barren woman, a woman of compassion, wisdom, and grace. she fed the prophet Elisha when he passed by and made a place for him to rest, to stay.
The prophet Elisha in appreciation for her kindness asked what he could do to for her. The prophets servant mentioned she was childless.
Elisha promised and she had a child the next year. When the child had grown, he went with his father to reap the crops and suffered a head ache and died. She told her husband, ‘It Shall Be Well’.
She placed him on the prophet’s bed, and went to find the prophet.
The prophet saw her coming, sent his servant to ask, Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with your child?
She answered, ‘It Is Well’. She fell at the prophet’s feet. He said, ‘Her soul is vexed and the Lord has hidden it from me.’
She said: ‘ I never asked for a child, why did you do this?’
The child was brought back to life. Though not immediately, it took 3 different events. First The prophets staff, then alone with the child, prayer, and the prophet mirroring the boy. More prayer, finally the child coughed and lived.
It Is Well. The message we must learn. Faith can be seen, it is also heard. God spoke the universe into existence. We speak either life or death into our life and into the lives of others. (Proverbs 18:1)
Speak Life! IT IS WELL!!!
