In the book of 1 John, we find the writer, telling us 12 times why he wrote to us.
I thought it might be interesting to find out what he felt was so important. He imparted several Truths of the Gospel.
1 John: 1. 4.
“And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.”
God came to earth, we met Him, touched Him, walked with Him. We can now have fellowship with, even life eternal with Him and so can you.
He is light, there is no darkness, (sin), in Him, if we sin, (and we do), He will forgive us and cleanse us, so we can have fellowship with each other and Him.
He goes on to let us know, we can have victory over sin.
1 John: 2. 1.
“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.”
John explains how to avoid sin, by learning to walk with Him. (Get into His yoke). That even then we may sin, but He is with us and has covered us with His blood, to make us righteous before the Father.
We must live and abide in His love, then His love is perfected in us as we keep His Commandments.
1 John: 2. 7.
“Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning.”
His Commandment: By this will people know you are My Disciples, that you love one another.
We must love God and love our neighbors. This fulfills the law. We must love our brothers, by walking in the light. Sharing the light.
If we are not sharing the reason for our joy, we are not showing Gods love to a lost and dieing world. We have received the promise, we must share.
1 John 2:12.
“I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.”
We are forgiven, The Father sees us as Justified because we are covered with the blood of Jesus.
1 John 2:13.
“I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.”
The Fathers here were Godly men who knew the Lord and brought up their children in the fear of the Lord.
“I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one.”
Because they were taught the fear of (reverance), and love of the Lord the young men could overcome the lies and temptations of the wicked one.
“I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.”
The Fathers again introduced the young to the Lord. They knew and excepted the love of God in their lives.
1 John 2:14.
“I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.”
TRUTH 6: Repeated:
“I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.”
Because they were brought up in the ways of the Lord, the Word was within, it made them strong and able to overcome the wicked one.
1 John: 2. 21.
“I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.”
He is writing to remind them of what they already know and to remind them the Holy Spirit will lead them to the truth.
1 John: 2. 26.
“These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.”
If they abide in the Spirit of Truth, He will keep them in the Truth.
If mans teaching, doesn’t agree with what they know as Truth, trust the Holy Spirit to guide and direct to all Truth.
1 John: 5. 13.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Know the Truth:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
There is good reason for the hope that is in you. Christ lived and died for you. You can now have a personal relationship with Almighty God, who loved you and sent His Son. For you. Amen
