“patient continuance in well doing”

This is truly the call to Eternal life.  Not walking perfectly in the light, not in making all the right decisions, not handling every circumstance correctly.

                “patient continuance in well doing”

The Fire Hydrant,  always there ready to serve.

Romans 2:7.  KJV
“To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:”

A little confusing maybe?   Try the Expanded Bible :

“Some people, by ·always continuing [persevering] to do good, ·live for [seek after; aim for] ·God’s glory [L glory], for honor, and for ·life that has no end [immortality]. God will give them ·life forever [eternal life].”

So the question is:  Are we a people that patiently continue to do good? 

I am not sure, half the time. 

I long to be used, as long as it doesn’t cost too much. 

I long to see the Lord working miracles through me, as long as I don’t have to stop my favorite sin.

I do long to do good.  As long as it doesn’t interfere with my (work, TV, family, relaxation), you understand. …when it’s convenient.

I still don’t understand.   How about the Amplified Bible?

“To those who by patient persistence in well-doing [[b]springing from piety] seek [unseen but sure] glory and honor and [[c]the eternal blessedness of] immortality, He will give eternal life.”

Still?  Living Bible :

“He will give eternal life to those who patiently do the will of God,[a] seeking for the unseen glory and honor and eternal life that he offers.*”

*who patiently do the will of God, literally, “who patiently do good.” seeking for the unseen glory and honor and eternal life that he offers, implied.

It seems to boil down to: “Are we doing the will of God?

Do we love, Unconditionaly? 

How do we show it?  Money,  Food, Clothes?

“We should be sharing the Gospel, by our walk with Him, causing folks to desire what we have.”

By this people will know you are my disciples:  That you love one another.
