Whosoeverwill. …Really? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Confessions of a head counter:

I confess, I count heads. At Church, Choir rehearsals, Bible studies, any event I attend.  Is it full? Are there lots of empty seats?  Wow, this guy really draws a crowd. …

When people aren’t there it is because, Whosoeverwill…..It couldn’t be my fault.
Could it?

After all I’m teaching them to memorize scripture, (in song). Who doesn’t want to learn that?  I ‘m teaching them the do’s and DON’TS of the Word. Who doesn’t want to hear that?

I have a pleasent personally, I  am  charming and accessible. …I listen to people and try to work with them.  (Sorry, that’s not really me).

Unfortunately, I am pig-headed, opinionated and loud mouthed.  Sorry,  You couldn’t have a good idea if you heard from God Himself.  (Do you see why counting gets easier every week)?  ((Insufferable, I am )).

Head counting becomes a real problem when Whosoever will becomes WHOSOEVER WON’T.

We all wish we had and hate those that do have, growing Churches. We say they can’t be preaching the true Word, (like me), because Jesus Himself only had 12 to 120.

Neglecting to mention the thousands who came to believe after the 120 received the Holy Spirit.

The lesson of Jesus :
》A servant –

He met the needs of real people,  healing the sick, opened the eyes of the blind, comforted the brokenhearted, (with the truth…you are in sin; and grace; you can be forgiven ).

He fed the hungry,  5,000 then 7,000, He washed the feet of the 12.

He showed anger, He displayed His love.

He had no use for the religious and embraced the repentant.

Jesus dealt with whosoever was in front of Him at the time.  He was flexible, meeting their needs, not His own.

I need to see people love me, follow me, listen to me.  That is a real problem.

Jesus needed to serve others and lead them to Salvation.

  1. Filled with truth and insight. To be like Jesus – a suffering servant . . .Really? I was thinking more like fame and miracles…and that ability to disappear when the going gets rough.
    Good post, pastor.

  2. Sometimes it is easier to fixate on the fact that the neighboring church/life has much more that you miss seeing the good going on in your own church/life. The grass is not always as green as it looks on the other side, I guess.
