all the trees of the field : -The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

Isaiah 55:12
King James Version (KJV)
“For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Back when I was traveling as an Evangelist,  one of my favorite and first things I would do, was to teach this song and how to clap to it.  It always brought  smiles of joy as the Lord touched those who participated.

It opened the door for the sharing of the Word. The problem was, I wasn’t a very good preacher back then.  I didn’t understand how to feed His sheep.

I tried to entertain rather then enlighten.   Tried to make them laugh, instead of imparting the joy of the Lord.   Tried to make them feel guilt, when The Lord would impart peace.

My wonderful sermons, great examples and stories were the most fun to do but are the least  effective ways to touch hearts.

I’ve been teaching the Old Testament to the UMC members who come to Wednesday night Bible Study.  From Genesis to 1st Samuel, the study has evolved into reading the Word, verse by verse, connecting the Old to the New.

Doing my best to answer questions and imparting the continuing love story of the Father for whosoever will accept Him.

I think of it as spoon-feeding the Word to folks that have loved God for decades, but have never known more than the Bible stories they learned in their youth.

We don’t encourage the reading of  the Full Council of God.  Or encourage and teach them how to study the Word, how to use their concordance, how to share that which they learn.

If ever I Pastor a church again,  Sunday morning will be for preaching the word,  Sunday evening for New Testament teaching,  verse by verse, connecting New to Old.  Wednesday,  Old Testament,  verse by verse, connecting Old to New.

I know there are verses that give my Theology problems,  good, ask what others think, pray for the answers, believe in the wisdom of the multitude of councilors.

It could be the ones who know the least may see more clearly.
