I was born in the 50’s, just in time for the Beatles, hippies, sex, drugs and rock and roll; and of course, free love.
I wish I could say I have fond memories of those years but what I remember is a spoiled, drunk, stoned, obnoxious, self centered punk.
If I could erase parts of my life it would be those years.
I am ashamed of the things I do remember and have real concerns of the things I don’t .
(life was a shipwreck )
Oooommm was a part of that time.
I would get stoned, listening to music and try to meditate, fall into a trance…..find the secrets of the Universe, since God was dead, the higher power I contacted was not good.
As you can imagine, what I found was not a good time, for me or anyone around me.
So as I read God’s word and find Him telling us to meditate on:
“book of the law”
“his law doth he meditate day and night.”
“meditate on thee in the night watches.”
“I will meditate in thy precepts, “
“thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.”
“that I might meditate in thy word.”
“Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.”
There is a little fear and trepidation connected to meditation.
Then I find Gods people falling into a trance…..heaven forbid.
I think a lot of people in my generation think of these things as being hippie foolishness, when it was really a perversion of the things of God.
Peter, Paul, Ezekiel, King Saul, John, Abram all experienced trances in times of prayer, meditation, seeking God.
They received visions, words, direction, comfort, wisdom, Knowledge. …..the peace that passes understanding.
We must rethink and learn to meditate on the things, laws, precepts and statutes of God, that we may profit.
We profit by becoming closer to, knowing better, being made into His image. Becoming useful vessels of His service.
Lord, teach us, help us to think on these things.
Thanks for visiting, come back soon.
