For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:

Romans 8:13
King James Version (KJV)
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

As a Born Again Christian I understand that I should be dead to sin.  As a man I war with sin continually.

To mortify the body, how hard can it be?

1 Corinthians 5:7
Names of God Bible (NOG)
Remove the old yeast of sin so that you may be a new batch of dough, since you don’t actually have the yeast of sin.

Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

The first step is to accept Jesus as Savior, then we make Him Lord by removing the old yeast of sin.

Easy right?  Some sins are easily removed, some are our favorites,  we hide them, try not to feed them but never really purge them, remove them from our lives.

Colossians 3:5-8
King James Version (KJV)
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Who among us has rid himself from all these?

Sometimes,  I covet someones lifestyle,  ask what do you do for work?  (How can you afford all this?)

Filthy communication is not above me.  I  don’t even want to touch on the others.

My soul before Jesus, looked like the picture of the soundboard, filthy, dirty, discolored the carnal man is not pretty.

Who will save me from this wickedness?

Christ has saved us, if we would only allow Him.  The key to victory in Christ in this life is  letting the Spirit mortify the flesh.

We let the Spirit reign by walking with Jesus,  learning of Him, allowing the Spirit to rule and reign.   As we walkwith Him we will see ourselves cleaned up.

Colossians 1:13
God has rescued us from the power of darkness and has brought us into the kingdom of his Son, whom he loves.

Colossians 3:1
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Lord,  help us to seek you, to hunger and thirst after righteousness,  to love you.
