The Blessings of the First Commandment:

The 5th Commandment is known as the first Commandment with promise:

Exodus 20:12
King James Version (KJV)
“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”

As we read Deuteronomy 6, we find the first Commandment,  with many promises,  Responsibilities and Conditions, that if we follow, we will be blessed :

The Blessings of the Lord :

Your days prolonged;  it may be well with thee, and  ye may increase mightily;  the Lord God  promised,  the land that floweth with milk and honey.

 the Lord thy God brought thee into the land;  to give thee great and goodly cities,  houses full of good things, wells digged, vineyards and olive trees, when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

 that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers.

 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, “

Seven tribes he will cast out. (7 deadly sins?)

the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

 the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore,  before our eyes:  he brought us out, that he might bring us in, to give us the land  that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

None of this is a hardship, or out of the way, it is always for our good.  The Lord encourages us to know Him.  This is just the means to prove our love of the Lord.  If we would live in these Responsibilities and Conditions, God promises blessing.

For our good always,  that it (life), may be well, that we (physically, mentally,  emotionally) may be well, that we may (our families) increase, that we may possess the land.

Responsibility and Conditions :

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:  love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, soul, and might.

Hide these words in your heart;  Teach them to your children; talk of them when sitting; walking; resting and rising.   Keep His word at hand, before your eyes;   Write them on door posts, and gates;

Do not forget the Lord;   instead Fear, serve, swear by the Lord. Do not go after other gods;  Do not temp the Lord

diligently keep the commandments, testimonies,  statutes, of the Lord your God,  do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord:

the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always,”

None of this is a hardship, or out of the way, it is always for our good.  The Lord encourages us to know Him.  This is just the means to prove our love of the Lord.  If we would live in these Responsibilities and Conditions, God promises blessing.

Our only duty is to learn of Him, love Him and proclaim His Gospel.   “The kingdom of God is at hand.”

You can know,  love, walk with, talk to and understand His Mercy and Grace.  “He stands at the door and knocks.”

Will you open your heart and let Him in?
