To Hunger and Thirst: theunfetteredpreacher

Matthew 5:6

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

Do we really understand this Scripture? Do we understand what it means to hunger and thirst for righteousness?

Abraham ‘believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.‘. (Genesis 15:6)

Do you hunger and thirst; To Believe God? Or just to be saved, healed, or comforted?

Most of us believe in Salvation, and that God once did miracles, signs, and wonders, but ‘Not So Much, Anymore.’

Now He has given us His Word, (the Bible), and that is all He has to share anymore. Remember please Jesus is the ‘Word’.

John 1:1-5

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

We are still somewhat in darkness. We want to believe, but our natural man, rejects the truth of the Lord’s Spirit. The Lord doesn’t really want us to be like Enoch, to walk and talk and fellowship with Him over all others.

I believe that there is nothing more the Lord wants from us than that. Our Love, Trust, and a desire to be with and become like Him.

To believe He IS, and He Is a rewarded of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)

To be Righteous is to believe God IS. Was, IS and will always be, everything we might need.

In the Wilderness, they knew of His promises, but they believed not His Word, they murmured and complained, till He decided to destroy them. (By a plague, Sounds like today, to me.)

Psalm 106:30,31

“Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.”

What did Phinehas do? He avenged God by delivering God’s judgment. He ran a javelin through two sinners, who had no shame.

Saints, the Lord is looking for those who Hunger and Thirst after Righteousness.

Do you wonder why you might be in want? Do things never seem to go your way?

Matthew 6:33

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
