The First Angels: theunfetteredpreacher.com

In Luke 10:18-20Jesus had sent out 70, 2 by 2, to preach the Kingdom of God. We find them returning, with Joy, that the sick were healed and devils were subject to them.

In verse 18, we find Jesus saying.

“I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Angels appear to be the first of God’s Creation, to have Freewill. Most chose God, a third joined satan and rebelled. (Revelation 12:4)

Who was this satan? We find he was the highest of the Angels, possibly the Praise and Worship leader. (Revelation 4:8, Isaiah 6:3), ((leading the seraphim)).

In Ezekiel 28:14, he is called ‘The anointed Cherub. He was adorned with very precious jewels, (Ezekiel 28:13), he was full of wisdom, perfect in beauty, (Ezekial 28:12b). Why then did he fall?

Ezekiel 28: 15. “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from. the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.”

In Isaiah 14:12-15 We find he is full of Pride, he wanted and thought he was God, he was sent to earth, from heaven, even though he was free to come before God. (Job)

His mission on earth?

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

The mission of Satan. To Kill, Steal and Destroy. He uses the three Temptations.

1 John 2:15-17

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

He used the three temptations on Eve and Adam.

Genesis 3: 4.

“the woman saw that the tree was good for food,” lust of the Flesh

“pleasant to the eyes,” lust of the eyes

desired to make one wise,” pride of life

Satan, was successful in causing man to fall. He actually killed them, Spiritually. We see the same temptations less successfully used on Jesus.

Luke 4:2-14

“command this stone that it be made bread.” lust of the flesh. Jesus’s answer: “It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”

“shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world” lust of the eye. Jesus answered: “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”

“If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:” pride of life. Jesus said: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.”

And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.”

Jesus was tempted externally, we can be also, yet most of our temptations come from within.

James 1:12-15

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

When David saw Bathsheba, it was lust, his lust that was enticing him, he was drawn away from Righteousness, causing him to sin, and on to greater sin. If he had not repented, his Spiritual life would have been lost.

I am convinced that if Adam had manned up, he would have been forgiven and remained in the Garden.

We see a lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, and the pride of life, throughout he Bible. We need to follow David’s example, and confess and repent. Enter into the holy of holies, to find grace and mercy in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
