Hearing Gods voice? – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

I have known Jesus as my Lord and Savior for over 30 years.  There have been times I have walked in His Yoke, beside Him,  doing His will in His way, seeing His results,  (Unfortunately only for short periods).

The majority of time, I have loved and acknowledged Him. Then gone  my own way, doing what I thought was important. Paying the bills, taking care of my wants and desires.

I have heard it said: “It’s ok to talk to God but if you hear Him answer you, you’re nuts”

Many believe this. If there is a God  he doesn’t speak to us except maybe through His Word. (The Bible).  I beg to differ.

I was never in open Rebellion but in rebellion, just the same.  In those times “I did not seek to hear the Lords voice” and “if” I heard it I did an Adam.

Genesis 3:8
King James Version (KJV)
And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.”

From the beginning, man has heard and recognized Gods voice, even when in known sin.  Gods voice rings out, loud and clear, for all to hear,  His Glory is there for all to see, we need to be open to see and hear.

Psalm 19:1-3
King James Version (KJV)
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.  Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”

So why do we have such a problem knowing and doing Gods will.

Judges 6:10
“And I said unto you, I am the Lord your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.”

As we hide and ignore His knocking at our hearts, our hearts get hard, our ears stopped up, our eyes blinded.

We claim to know, love and obey Him but neglect to seek Him, don’t know how to spend time with Him, we fail to hear and recognize  His voice.

Saints, this should not be so. In John 10, Jesus explains how He knows His sheep and His sheep know Him and His voice.  He calls them by their name and leads them.

Therein lies the problem,  not recognizing His voice, makes if hard to follow, never mind walk with Him.

We learn to be close to Him, the direction He would have us go, the thing He would have us do, to hear His voice,  by the reading of His Word.  We must choose the best thing.

Time with Him.

Luke 10:39
King James Version (KJV)
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.”

The primary way to know His voice is to know His Word, The Bible.  God speaks through out the book, to whosoever will read and understand.

It is rare but some are blessed with hearing an audible voice.

Usually we will receive a thought.  Either way, if it is God, you will be able to find 2 or 3 verses  (witnesses), that will line up with that voice or thought.

If you would know and hear the voice of God.  Stop, Look and Listen.  He is there for all to see and hear.  Pray for your eyes and ears be opened.  Then obey the Spirit of the Lord.

Hebrews 3
King James Version (KJV)
But Christ as a son over his own house;  –  Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,  Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:”
