1 Samuel 15:22-23

“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”

The word of the Lord from Samuel, to Saul the King.

I am concerned that today in our “I’m forgiven” world, we don’t give any weight to the Old Testament.   Yes, Jesus forgives us when we repent and turn to Him and I am thankful He does.   (But)

That doesn’t erase the fact that the Lord requires us to be living Sacrifices.  That means, we subject ourselves to Gods will and wants, rather than our own.

Romans 12:1-2

 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Some of us fill ourselves  with TV, Internet, Books and don’t study “The Book”, to know His ways, desires and commands.

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

The Lord would  have us live holy lives, in the Word, understanding Gods will, to, as individuals help the poor, the widows, help those who need it.

We have allowed our Churches or worse our Government to do our job. 

“LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOUR SELF.”

Tithe to your Church,  that’s to pay the bills, salaries, ministries. ..an emergency fund to help those in need.

So immediate needs can be met.  Then it becomes our job to help feed, find work for, help to get people on their feet.  That is Giving to the Lord,

Lord help us to be Holy, Acceptable, Righteous followers of You.  Help us to share Your Grace and Love.
