Or just useless.

Warning:  A not so subtle message for Christians.

I know I am a Christian because:

  • I was born in America
  •   baptised and raised in church
  • The good I do, out ways the bad
  • I don’t drink, smoke or chew, or run with women that do.

If this is you?  You are not a Christian, or useless.   You are just like a multitude of church people who want to serve the Lord but do not Continue reading

MOSES

Moses is an amazing and unusual Bible character.   He came along quite late in the game but wrote the first five books of the Bible.   He spent more time with and saw more of God than anyone I know besides Jesus.

The other interesting thing about Moses is that He met 2 members of the Trinity at one time.    Abram knew only the Lord of the Trinity for 24 years.   He heard Him, had visions and dreams of Him, sacrificed to Him,  talked with and met the Lord, before he had ever heard the name God.

At the burning bush,   the Lord saw that Moses was paying attention and then God spoke.    God told Moses I Am That I Am is sending you.   The Lord told Moses how and where to go,  what to say,  when to stand in Pharaohs way.

It was God that led them to the Red Sea,   the Lord ahead and behind to protect them.    Moses knew both Natures of the Lord God and recognized their different voices.

Reread the story of Eve.   The Lord gave her Cain and Able,    Cain gave an offering to the Lord.   The Lord didn’t accept it.   Cain went out from the presence of the Lord.    God gave Eve Seth, who had Enos and that is when men began to call upon the name of the Lord.

As we delve deeper into the Word we will see more evidence that the Lord (Jehovah,  the Eternal One) and God (the Creator, ruler) are two different, separate and distinct members of the Trinity.

Why Abram?

  • Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

  •  This is our introduction to Abram,  it is the same invitation we received to know the Lord.

  • The Lord had said;
  • How many times has the Lord called out to us before we finally get our act together?
  • Get out of there:
  • We must repent, turn away from our old ways and embrace the Way of the Lord.
  • To a land I will show you;
  • The Lord has made a plan and place just for us, if we will allow Him to bring us there.

I believe that the Lord introduced us to Enoch,  Noah and Abram so we could see the potential for our own lives.   These men were incredibly special,   distinct from the rest of the world in their life times.   Not because the Lord called out to them.

They were special and different and distinct from the rest of the world because they were obedient to what the Lord was speaking to them.

They were not any different then we are.   They just purposed in their hearts to seek the Lord,  to walk in His ways.  To live their lives to honor and obey the Lord.     Abram believed in the Lord and the Lord counted it for righteousness.

Enoch, Noah and Abram all believed and acted on their beliefs,  that is why the Lord used them.  The Lord will also use us as we accept the measure of faith available to us.

WHY NOAH?

Of all the people in the world at the time, Noah was the only just and perfect man.  How could this be?

Why did Noah find grace in the eyes of the Lord? It really is quite simple, Noah walked with God. We need to walk with Jesus to find grace and acceptance with the Father.

We really do not know if Noah was the only man who the Lord warned. We only know that Noah is the one man who found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

The Word tells us that when God told Noah of the coming destruction, He also told Noah the way of salvation. Build an Ark. In reverential fear Noah obeyed.

That is the simplest explanation of why Noah was special. He put God first…build an Ark, share the Gospel…love the unloved. Walk with God (Jesus).

Why unfettered?

Growing up in the Catholic Church I knew that Jesus Christ died on the cross and  rose from the dead to save my soul.  I also knew the Bible stories that every Christian teaches their children.   What I did not realize was that Jesus is alive and well and available to all,  for the asking.

When I finally asked Him into my life and entered Bible School I started to mark my Bible,  what scriptures was I taught today?  Did it line up with yesterday’s teaching?   What verses did they skip?  Why? How does it line up with what I  thought was true?   What to believe?

God truly blessed me by bringing me to Christian Retreat in Florida to learn of Him.  We had multiple teachers and teachings.   I lived and worked there for three years and left with a good understanding of how to study the Bible.

All of that said,  It wasn’t until recently, while seeking more of Jesus that He opened His Word anew to me.   The eyes of my understanding suddenly saw what the Word had always said, not what I had taken for granted. I had always thought of the Lord God as one member of the Trinity.   He was the Father God of the New Testament in the Old Testament.

We had the Lord God and the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament and Jesus made His appearance in the New.   I knew Jesus was there (in the Old Testament),  somewhere but silent, invisible waiting for His cue to appear.

Then I remembered that the Lord noticed that Moses turned aside to see and God said.  That Noah found grace in the Lords eyes and Noah walked with God. The Lord said “Have you considered my servant Job, he hates evil and fears God. ” There are so many examples if we will just open our eyes to see.

If we look at the Spirit of the Lord and compare to the Spirit of God the Nature s of the Father and Son stand in stark contrast.   I needed to further study the Old Testament to understand what the Lord is showing me.   This blog is my attempt to teach what I am learning to whosoever will, to help in their walk with God.  Is anyone interested?

WHY DID GOD CHOOSE ENOCH, NOAH, ABRAHAM ECT…?

As I read the Bible, I wonder at the way the Lord used certain people and why. These Old Testament people didn’t have the cover of the blood of Jesus, yet, they loved The Lord and God used them to further His purpose.

How were they different from other men of their time?
Enoch, walked with God. Believed that God is and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

What does it mean to believe that God is?

I think we tend to believe that God doesn’t do that anymore. He used to heal the sick, give sight to the blind, make the lame walk. He only does it now if it is His will today, forgetting that He said only believe and these signs shall follow.

Mark 16:15-20
King James Version (KJV)
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creäture.

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

These signs should be following those who believe. We should say to that mountain be thou removed and cast into the sea.

As Christians we do not see the glory of God, the majesty of the Lord because we have forgotten how to believe.

First we must believe God is and He also rewards those who truly and diligently seek Him. Too often we seek what we think we need. Money, wisdom, healing, peace. When in reality if we were to set our face towards God all our needs would be met.

So many of us seem to only believe He saves. Why believe this and not the rest?

VII Who is the Trinity in the Old Testament

Who have we met and what have they done:

God (Elohim) creator and ruler of all.  God of the Trinity said it,  it was so and it was good.   God said Let us create man in our image.  Continue reading

VI Meeting the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit,  the Spirit of God, the Spirit of the Lord,  the Holy Ghost. All titles that we commonly use to describe the third person of the Trinity. If you have already read the Spirit of God and the Spirit of the Lord you have probably seen that we might need to take another look.

The Spirit of God gives us wisdom, understanding and knowledge,  the ability to understand dreams and prophesy.  While the Spirit of the Lord  Continue reading

IV SPIRIT OF GOD

Getting to know the Spirit of God (Elohim):

Genesis 1:1-2

King James Version (KJV)

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The Spirit of God: The Ruach Elohim: In the Hebrew. The breath or breeze of God moved upon the face of the waters. The Spirit of God, The Holy Spirit, The Holy Ghost, The Spirit of the Lord Are they all different names for the same Spirit? Again the answer is in the Word. Continue reading

II JESUS IS ALIVE : ABRAM MEETS GOD

Abram meets God: (Elohim)

Abram meets God: (Elohim)

Genesis 17

King James Version (KJV)

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.  And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.  Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.  And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

Notice Abram is 99, the Lord (Jehovah) comes to him and introduced Himself as the Almighty God.  (El Shadday)  Abram had been meeting with the Lord, (Jehovah) offering  sacrifices to the Lord, doing all that the Lord had asked for twenty-four years.

I JESUS IS ALIVE AND WELL IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

The Bible is an amazing book, we can read it, memorize it, even believe we understand it and then one day God opens our eyes and old things pass away, the word becomes new.  Suddenly we begin to understand and see things in a different light.

For most of my Christian life the Old Testament has been the Father Gods domain.

I thought of the God of the Old Testament as Father God, Lord God or just Lord or God.  They were all interchangeable names for the same member of the Trinity, who ruled the Old Testament. He and the Spirit were active,  where was Jesus?

The Father God wrote the book of the law and He was the book and the law. Whatever we called Him, He was one member of the Trinity.  When He spoke the earth moved, things got done, He was to be feared and obeyed.

Jesus was there somewhere but silent, invisible, waiting for his cue to enter center stage. The Spirit also, was quietly hovering, ready to explode on to the scene. Continue reading
