2 Peter 2:21
King James Version (KJV)
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
Do you loose your freewill after you are saved?
John 10:26-30
King James Version (KJV)
But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.
1 John 2:19
King James Version (KJV)
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
These scriptures are given as proofs that once saved always saved. I believe that no man can pluck us out of the Fathers hand and if we know Him, we would continue with Him.
Unless, in our time of hurt, we don’t alow Him to comfort, protect and guide us.
His hand is open, not a fist….In my self pitying time, I cried out to the Lord…..felt He had left me. So I turned my back on Him…..
” Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.“
Like Balaam, I sometimes built alters and made sacrifices (prayed wrongly), trying to get God to change His direction for my life…
I could have very easily been like Cain and left the presence of the Lord. The Lord offers Salvation, Comfort, Peace and the Holy Ghost to whosoever will. We have freedom to accept or reject His Love and Grace at any point in our lives.
Like the prodigal son, I came back. Cain stayed away. God finds the lost sheep but some deliberately leave and the Lord allows that also.
I am more comfortable believing that we have freewill to leave Gods hand than to once believe I was in His hand and be mistaken. To me that would be too cruel for my loving God.
Let’s look at a few more scriptures:
Genesis 1:27
King James Version (KJV)
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God created man in His own image, to fellowship with Him, to walk, talk enjoy each other. He only had one requirement….don’t eat that fruit.
Today we are saved, so that we have fellowship with Him, to walk, talk, enjoy each other. We only have one requirement….do not deny or attribute the power of the Lord to the devil.
Adam sinned, was cast from the garden, but still had a measure of fellowship with the Lord. The Lord gave them Cain and Able.
Cain had fellowship with the Lord…..brought an offering to the Lord. (his attitude was wrong: look what I did, instead of Lord thank you for your perfect provision).
The Lord rejected the offering, Cain killed Abel:
Cain had a wrong attitude for worship and a wrong attitude in chastisement. He couldn’t accept that the Lord was greater than he, so he rejected the Lord.
And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
God did not send Cain from His presence, yet he left. Still under the Lords protection.
Let’s look at the Hebrews delivered from Egypt: They make it to the edge of the promised land….had an evil heart of unbelief and wondered the desert for 40 years.
That generation never entered the promise. We have a promise today…..to enter into His rest. I don’t know that alot of us enter.
To enter into His rest is more than being born again or Spirit filled. It is to live in Christ. Not put Him on Sundays and do as you please the rest of the week. You will not enter the rest of God, that way.
The committed Jewish people read the Old Testament through every year…..it becomes ingrained, planted firmly in their hearts and minds. They are dedicated, deliberate and determined to study the Word.
We need to be dedicated, deliberate and determined to study the Old and New Testament so that it is firmly ingrained, planted in our hearts and minds.
We have a great advantage in our Walk with God. We are under Grace. When we miss the mark, repentance brings forgiveness. To obey is always better than sacrifice. ….
2 Peter 2:20-22
King James Version (KJV)
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Don’t walk out of the Masters hand, turn to Him, not away when the seas of life get rough.
: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Lord, help us to do our part….be faithful.
