Great Faith: theunfetteredpreacher

The story of the Centurion’s great faith.

Just say the word Lord, and my servant will be healed.

Jesus marvelled at his great faith. We stand in awe, wishing our faith was as strong.

That story, will, and does preach.

I want to look at the beginning of the tale.

The first thing the Centurion did was come to Jesus, beseeching Him.

To beseech; It means to beg; urge to, ask.

We find it in Exodus 3, the Lord telling Moses, how to speak to the King of Egypt. As He was hardening his heart to deny, the request.

The next time we see beseech is in Exodus 33,34, Moses asking to see the Lord’s glory.

A Good read. Moses, receiving the Ten Commandments, and finding Grace, in God’s sight, saw God’s backside.

People could not look upon Moses. He had spoken to God, face to face, as a friend. The Glory of God, shone apon him.

Moses, like the Centurion, found grace, (God’s unwarranted Mercy, Love, and Forgiveness, and Favor).

Jesus said: “I will come and heal him.

If we find Grace, our prayers will be answered. Where do we find this Grace?

We first need to learn how to come to God.

Moses, saw the burning bush, decided to investigate, was told to, ‘Take off your shoes, you are on Holy Ground.

We must approach the Lord, with a clean heart and conscience, knowing we are forgiven, blameless in His sight.

This takes True Repentance, a realization of how unworthy we are to approach Him.

Romans 12:1-3

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

Are we Living Sacrifices? Are we Holy and acceptable to God?

Are we delivering our Reasonable Service to God?

Are our minds being Transformed, so we know God’s good, acceptable and perfect will?

To know God we must know His Word, His Will, His Mind. The Author is present in His Word. We Must Know Him.

We Must learn to touch Him, Spiritually, in prayer, supplication and thanksgiving.

Then the Power of God will be with us.

Matthew 8: 5-10

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
