I. The true Church

No I am not claiming that I know where the true Church meets.

I do know I go to Church with a lot of believers who think their Church is the One.  You do also.

“I love the rituals, or the music ministry is top-notch.”

“Our Preacher makes you wish you’d behaved last week.”  “Our Preacher really gives us the truth of the Word.”

All of the above are not the signs of the true or even a good Church. A Pastor friend of mine says it like this:  “Does it matter whether there are 20 or 200 people in the Church, if the work of God isn’t getting done?”

What is the Church?

Matthew 16:16 King James Version (KJV)

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

The Church was built on the revelation knowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God.  He died for our sins, was buried, rose again and now sits beside the Father. We are forgiven, when we have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.

That is the simple Gospel we should be living and walking in.

Jesus is Not a Baptist, nor UMC, Catholic, Jehovah’s Witness, Morman or even a Pentecostal.

What is the purpose of the Church?

As with the Prophets of old…teach and encourage morality and heart felt Worship of the Lord. To teach and lead people into Gods kingdom of grace.

We want people to come to our Church. ..Wake up, lead them to Christ, they may not like our Church. We might be us 4 and no more.?..even when we think we are loving, accepting.  (A hand shake and welcome, isn’t as friendly as let us buy you lunch, tell us about yourselves…)  We need to show an interest in people.

Proverbs 18:24King James Version (KJV)

24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

What is the church To do?

Acts 2:47King James Version (KJV)

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

The first order is Praising God,  how does your church do that?

What does the Bible say about Praise?  Praise is mentioned 259 times in the Bible.

Psalm 150 King James Version (KJV)

Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.  Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.  Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.  Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.  Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

2 Samuel 22:50King James Version (KJV)

50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

2 Chronicles 20:22King James Version (KJV)

22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

2 Chronicles 29:30 King James Version (KJV)

30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the Lord with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

If you need victory, learn to praise….God inhabits the Praise of His people.

Study what the Word tells you and skip the rituals you’ve been stuck in….Praise unleashes God in your Church.

When we learn to Praise God and find favour with people, God will add to His Church.
