As we study the Trinity, one of our first obstacles is the change of languages. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew or Chaldee. The New Testament was written in Greek. The Words we use for the Lord or God, mean different things in these different languages .

God

In the Old Testament the Word for God is: Elohim, and means Creator/Supreme Ruler, Sometimes God is Translated to Adonay, which means Supreme Ruler, either Devine or Human.

In the New Testament the Word for God is: Theos, and means, Deity, Supreme Divinity, or magistrate.

Lord

In the Old Testament, the Word for Lord is: Jehovah or Yahwey, from the Hebrew who were forbidden to pronounce the Name of God. It means: THE ETERNAL ONE, THE EXISTENT ONE

In the New Testament the Word for Lord is: Kurios, it means, Supreme in Authority, Controler, God, Lord, Master

The Words for Spirit, both Old and New: Ruach OT, or Pneuma NT,  both mean wind, or breath, or the immortal soul.

Let us compare Genesis 1:1-5, 2:4 with John 1:1-5,14:

Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning God (Elohim, Creator/Ruler) created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit (Ruach, breath, wind, of Elohim) of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God (Elohim) said, Let there be light: and there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”

The Lord God first appears in

Genesis 2: 4.
“These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,”

Lord God, the Eternal One, Creator/Ruler. The Three, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, always work in harmony, but we can distinguish who they are, as we study their Words and Works.

John 1:1-5,14
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, (Theos, Deity, Supreme Divinity, a magistrate,) and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

I hope this helps in our understanding of who Jesus is: He is God, (Elohim, the Creator/Supreme Ruler, in the Old Testament and Theos, the Diety, Supreme Divinity, the Word of God), In the New.

This does not change the need to cling to Jesus for Forgiveness and Salvation. He is the only way to the Father. I do hope it will help to understand, the difference between the Law and Grace.

In the life of Abram, he dealt solely with the Lord, (Jehovah), until chapter 15 where he calls the Lord, ADONAY JEHOVAH. Lord God, Supreme Ruler, the Eternal One. A few chapters later he meets Elohim, the Creator/Ruler. He then deals with Elohim, more than Jehovah.

The Bible is an amazing book, we read it, memorize it, even believe we understand it, then one day God opens our eyes and old things pass away, the Word becomes new.  Suddenly we understand what the Word had always said that, we had never realized, or acknowledged.

For most of my Christian life the Old Testament has been the Lord Gods domain.   I thought of the God of the Old Testament as Father God, Lord God or just the Lord or God.  They were all interchangeable names for the same member of the Trinity, who ruled the Old Testament.

The Father and the Spirit were active, but, where was Jesus?

The Father God wrote and was, the book of the law.  Whatever we called Him, He was one member of the Trinity. When He spoke the earth moved, things got done, He was to be feared and obeyed.

Jesus was there somewhere but silent, invisible, waiting for his cue to enter center stage. The Spirit also, was quietly hovering, ready to explode on the scene.

In the New Testament it was easier, to separate the Trinity.  The Son, Jesus was the main character, the Father, speaks from heaven, and Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter to those who believe.

It was easy to understand, the Father in the Old Testament, Jesus in the New Testament and the Spirit for today.  I didn’t think too much about the Trinity having an active role in the whole of God’s Word.

Today many believe that the Lord God of the Old Testament is no longer relevant.  The Law has been fulfilled by  Jesus, who brought Saving Grace to those who believe.   It is now, the Holy Spirits turn,   Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, to give us the Power to Heal, Comfort, Teach, and Lead us, to the truth.

We seem to believe, the Old Testament is full of interesting stories, or old wives tails, and at best, ancient history.  If we reject the relevance of the Old Testament, we remove the Teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, in the New Testament.  They knew only the Law and that Jesus taught  and fulfilled the Law.

God, left the heavens, became a man, to suffer and die,  so believers,  could become  Blameless, covered by the Blood of The Lamb.  He was born of the Seed of Abraham and David, He was a man,  He did not start the Miracle Ministry until after His Baptism of Obedience, where He was also Baptized, by the Holy Spirit.

If we look, we see that the Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are active throughout the Bible.

“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.   And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.   And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”  (1 Corinthians 12:4-7  King James Version)

Can we understand the Trinity?  Can we know who they are, and what they do?  Is it possible to know the Trinity individually? Is the Godhead, (the Trinity, the Deity), active today?

When I read the Bible, I have to wonder, where is the Power of God, the Miracles, Jesus, promised, to those who believe?   Is the Spirit of God, still moving upon the face of the waters?

Yes, people are getting Saved, Sanctified, Holy Ghost filled and Water Baptized, but, is that all we should expect?

Where is the God of Elijah?  The God of the Bible?  The Lord who preformed miracles, who healed the sick, raised the dead, and walked on water.  Where are the Signs and Wonders, that Jesus promised would  follow, those who believe?

Has the Lord God changed?  Where is the power that Jesus had promised?   Is the Holy Spirit that lives within, the weak link?  Or is it possible that we don’t know how, to believe and fulfill the Will of God?

The answer to these questions is revealed in the Word. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to understand, to believe, that God is and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Chapter 1:  Moses meets the Lord God:

I believe I can prove this statement true, this is the Lord God’s revelation, to me.

The Lord (Jehovah) in the Hebrew means The Eternal One.   God (Elohim) in the Hebrew means Creator/Ruler of all. So when Moses met the Lord God,  he was meeting not one, but two members of the Trinity.

This is the passage that opened my eyes, and helped to change my thinking.

“And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him (Moses), in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.  And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.  And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.”  (Exodus 3:2-4)

When the Lord (Jehovah) saw that Moses was paying attention, God (Elohim) called.  That was my first inkling, that I’d been looking at the Old Testament wrong. The Lord (Jehovah) and God (Elohim) are two different, separate members of the Trinity.

Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible.   He recognized the distinct differences and the oneness of the Trinity. He knew them as one and as individuals.  Both the Lord and God spoke to Moses.  We can begin to recognize them, by the differences and agreements of their speech.

God said:

“And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.  Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.”  (Exodus 3:5-6)

When people meet God (Elohim) something happens. Moses hid his face, afraid.  As we continue in Exodus 3:7-10 we see the Lord speaking to Moses.

The Lord told Moses that He had seen the Hebrews affliction and heard their cry, and that He would deliver them from their taskmasters.

In verses 11-22 We again hear the voice of God.  God promises to be with Moses, that God is the: I AM THAT  I AM.  God said:  I have seen your affliction, I will deliver you, and bring you to a land of milk and honey.   He would smite Egypt with His wonders and the Hebrews would not leave empty. the Egyptians would give them their riches.

In Chapter 4 the Lord, speaks once again.  The Lord tells and shows Moses the Miracles he will do, He told Moses that Pharaoh, would harden his heart and not let them go.  The Lord even told Moses that He would slay Pharaoh’s, first-born.

Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible.  He knew the lord and God better than anyone.  He separated the two, almost as

Chapter 2:  Getting to know God (Elohim):

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”. (Genesis 1:1  King James Version)

It is quite clear that God, (Elohim), is the Creator and Ruler of the Heavens and Earth.  As we have seen, in the meeting of the Lord God with Moses, there are instances where we see both the Lord and God interacting with the Faithful.  We can see, (and hear), many differences in their speech.  The Lord, (Jehovah), is the Law Giver, and God, (Elohim), is Grace.   (The way of escape).

There also, are many examples of the Lord God, speaking with One Voice, as there should be.  The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are One, and they often speak in One Voice, as they also speak for themselves.

I realize  this may be a new idea for some, but, I believe the Word will show us the truth.  In the Garden, the Lord God walked together in the cool of the day, they were One, in their desire to walk with Adam and Eve, to have a personal, loving relationship with them.

They were One in disappointment, because of the sin, the disobedience of Adam, in sharing in the guilty pleasure of eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

The Lord God, were in agreement that Adam and Eve, must be forced from the Garden, before they ate from the tree of Life, now that they had sinned.  Until that sin, they partook of that Tree, and didn’t know of sin or death.

That knowledge caused them to hide and cover themselves.

The Lord, God and the Spirit are One.  Let us first get to Know the Creator and Ruler, the God of Grace, Elohim.

The word we use, ‘God’, is translated from the Hebrew word, Elohim.  It means Creator/Ruler  of all.  As we look through the Bible we begin to see what God (Elohim) is all about.  He is the operations manager.  (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)  He is the  spoken word. The Word became flesh in the New Testament.  Jesus is the Word.  (John 1:1-5,14)

At the creation of man, God, (Elohim), said:  ‘Let Us make man in our image.’    ‘Man was Created in the Image of God.’  (Genesis 1:26,27; 9:6)  The New Testament tells us Jesus is the Image of God.  (2 Corinthians 4:4; Colossians 1:15)   We see the separation of the Lord from God, in the words of Eve.

“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and Eve said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.”  (Genesis 4:1  King James Version)

Eve tells us Cain was from the Lord (Jehovah) not the Lord God (Jehovah Elohim). Cain brought his offering to the Lord (Jehovah).   The Lord rejected Cain’s offering.  Cain left the presence of the Lord. Eve later tells us about Seth.

“And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.  And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.”   (Genesis 4:25-26  King James Version)

This is important;   Moses wrote this and points out the difference between the two of the three, equal persons of the Trinity.  The Lord (Jehovah) gave Eve Cain but God (Elohim) gave Eve Seth.  Seth had Enos, and then men began to call upon the name of the Lord (Jehovah).

The Lord (Jehovah) and God (Elohim) are separate parts of the Trinity. They are not one member with two interchangeable names.   When they interact with people we can see, and understand the difference.

As we look at Genesis 5:18-21 we  read the story of Enoch.  ‘Enoch walked with God: and was not; because God took him.’  In Hebrews 11:5 and in the book of Jude, we find out Enoch was a Preacher of Righteousness, he pleased God because;  ‘He believed that God IS, and IS a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.’

We soon read of Noah, another Preacher of Righteousness. ‘Who found Grace in the eyes of the Lord, Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.’   (Genesis 6:8-9)

Noah found Grace, and was a just and perfect man, only because he Walked with God.  (jesus)

Chapter 3:  Noah meets the Lord God:

We soon read of Noah, another Preacher of Righteousness. ‘Who found Grace in the eyes of the Lord, Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.’   (Genesis 6:8-9)

Noah found Grace, and was a just and perfect man, only because he Walked with God.  (jesus)  Noah was minding his own business one day when the Lord God gave him his mission.

The Lord (Jehovah) speaking before flood:

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.  (Genesis 6:3)

And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.  And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  (Genesis 6:5-6)

God (Elohim) speaks before the flood:

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  (Genesis 6:55)

The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.  Make thee an Ark of gopher wood;  (Genesis 6:12-14)

The Lord (Jehovah) said: “I will destroy man” while God (Elohim) said: “The end of all flesh is come before me”  The Lord (Jehovah) is the administrator, God (Elohim) operations:  Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Jehovah) but it was God (Elohim) who showed the way of salvation.  I will destroy, you need to make an ark…

Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Jehovah) not because he was just and perfect in his generation, he was just and perfect because he walked with God, (Elohim).  Noah was righteous in the Lords eyes, because, Noah walked with God.

It was God that remembered Noah, and all the animals, God caused the wind to dry the earth.  (Genesis 6:11). Noah, left the Ark with his family and animals to replenish the earth.  Noah sacrificed to the Lord. (Genesis 8:22-24)

The Lord accepted Noah’s sacrifice after the flood, because Noah walked with God.  The only reason we can enter the Holy of Holies now or heaven when our bodies give up the ghost, is because we walk with God. (Jesus)

Chapter 4:  Abraham meets the Lord (Jehovah)

“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:    And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:”  (Genesis 12:1-2)

Things worked a little differently for Abram.  ‘Now the Lord had said,’  Abram first interacted only with the Lord.   ‘Had said” seems to mean, he had to be told several times before he obeyed.

I believe, if our hearts are set to walk with the Lord, He will repeat His instructions, until we understand and obey.    Abram walked with the Lord for 24 years,

Five times the Lord restated His promises to Abram.  (Genesis 12:2;13:14;15:18;17:2,3,4;18:10;;19:13,25,29)

Promises of a Promised Land, and countless descendents, he often built alters and worshiped the Lord.

Twice Abram had Sarai say she was his sister.  The first time the Lord closed the wombs of the people till Abram prayed.  (Genesis 12:7)  The second time was after Abram had met Almighty God and God kept the king from sinning, because the king was a righteous man.  (Genesis 26:7)

Abram saved Lot from captivity, he met  Melchizedek, the King of  Salem, and  Priest of the Most High God, Abram, gave him a tithe.  This is the first time God, (Elohim), is mentioned in Abrams life.

That night, in a dream, God warned Abram of the four hundred year captivity.   In the life of Abram, he dealt solely with the Lord, (Jehovah), until chapter 15 where he asks aboutut his servant being his heir.  The Lord tells him he shall have a son.  Abram believed God and it was counted as Righteous.   Abram calls the Lord, ADONAY JEHOVAH. (Lord God, Supreme Ruler, the Eternal One. A few chapters later he meets Elohim, the Creator/Ruker). He then deals with Elohim, more than Jehovah.

Abram meets God (Elohim) :

Genesis 17: 1-6

“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.”

The Lord introduced him to God, he fell on his face and worshiped.  The Lord said: ‘Walk before me and be ye perfect.’   While God said”  ‘As for Me, My Covenant is with you.’

Abram, fell on his face, God renewed the promises of the Lord.  Abrams name was changed, he and the people were circumcised.   (He met Jesus).

Genesis 17:1 [ The Lord’s Fifth Promise to Abraham ] When Abram was 99 years old, Yahweh appeared to him. He said to Abram, “I am El Shadday. Live in my presence with integrity.

Genesis 18:1 [ The Lord’s Sixth Promise to Abraham ] Yahweh appeared to Abraham by the oak trees belonging to Mamre as he was sitting at the entrance of his tent during the hottest part of the day.

Genesis 18:13Yahweh asked Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Can I really have a child now that I’m old?’

Genesis 18:17Yahweh said, “I shouldn’t hide what I am going to do from Abraham.

Genesis 18:19 I have chosen him so that he will direct his children and his family after him to keep the way of Yahweh by doing what is right and just. In this way I, Yahweh, will do what I have promised Abraham.”

Genesis 18:22 From there the men turned and went on toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing in front of Yahweh.

Genesis 18:33 When Yahweh finished speaking to Abraham, he left. Abraham returned home.

Genesis 19:27 Early the next morning Abraham came to the place where he had stood in front of Yahweh.

Genesis 20:18 (Yahweh had made it impossible for any woman in Abimelech’s household to have children because of Abraham’s wife Sarah.)

Genesis 21:33Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba and worshiped Yahweh, El Olam, there.

Genesis 22:11 But the Messenger of Yahweh called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Yes?” he answered.

Genesis 22:14Abraham named that place Yahweh Yireh. It is still said today, “On the mountain of Yahweh it will be provided.”

Genesis 22:15 [ The Lord’s Seventh Promise to Abraham ] Then the Messenger of Yahweh called to Abraham from heaven a second time

Genesis 24:1 [ Abraham Instructs His Servant ] By now Abraham was old, and Yahweh had blessed him in every way.

Genesis 24:12 Then he prayed, “Yahweh, Elohim of my master Abraham, make me successful today. Show your kindness to Abraham.

Genesis 24:27 He said, “Praise Yahweh, the Elohim of my master Abraham. Yahweh hasn’t failed to be kind and faithful to my master. Yahweh has led me on this trip to the home of my master’s relatives.”

Genesis 24:42 “When I came to the spring today, I prayed, ‘Yahweh Elohim of my master Abraham, please make my trip successful.

Genesis 24:48 I knelt, bowing down to Yahweh. I praised Yahweh, the Elohim of my master Abraham. Yahweh led me in the right direction to get the daughter of my master’s relative for his son.

Genesis 24:52 When Abraham’s servant heard their answer, he bowed down to Yahweh.

Chapter 5:  Getting to know the Spirit of God (Elohim):

Genesis 1:1-2

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The Spirit of God: The Ruach Elohim: In the Hebrew. The breath or breeze of God moved upon the face of the waters. The Spirit of God, The Holy Spirit, The Holy Ghost, The Spirit of the Lord Are they all different names for the same Spirit? Again the answer is in the Word.

The phrase the Spirit of God appears twenty six times in Scripture and only twice in Genesis. The first in verse 2 (above). The next time when the Pharaoh asked, about Joseph:

Genesis 41:38   King James Version (KJV)

And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

People are looking for men and women who have the Spirit of God in their lives. Who walk in the light and power of the Almighty. It is the Spirit that draws people to the Lord.

I don’t believe that we fully appreciate the opportunity we have been given, to be at one in the Spirit. The Spirit of God is also mentioned twice in the book of Exodus. Both times by the Lord concerning building his Tabernacle:

Exodus 31

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,

And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.

This time the Lord is speaking, the Lord gave the Spirit of God for the building of His Tabernacle. The Lord didn’t give His own Spirit but the Spirit of God. The Spirit is given to us today so that we will build God’s Tabernacle, His body in the world today.

So we see the Spirit is given to draw men to God and to build His kingdom.

When the Spirit of God came upon men in the Old Testament it was a Spirit of wisdom, understanding and knowledge, or a Spirit of prophesy. Some 26 times the Spirit of God is mentioned in the Bible.

It was the Spirit of God that was upon the waters at creation, the Lord set the Spirit of God on the workmen to build the tabernacle. The Spirit of God came upon Balaam, King Saul, David to prophesy.

The Spirit of God decended on Jesus to start His ministry. He cast out devils by the Spirit of God. To be followers of Jesus we must have the Spirit of God within. We cannot understand the things of God without the Spirit of God.   It is by the power of the Spirit of God that miricles are done.

Chapter 6

Getting to know the Spirit of the Lord (Jehovah):

Let’s look at the Spirit of the Lord: The (Ruach Jehovah), The Breeze or breath of the Lord. We don’t have any mention of Him untill the book of Judges.

Judges 3:7-10

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgat the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves. Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years. And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.

This is not a hard and fast rule but it generally holds true: The Spirit of God brings blessing, wisdom, understanding and knowledge and prophesy. The Spirit of the Lord generally has a warrior connection. Not always but in most references.

You will also find as in this verse the anger of the Lord some thirty times in Scripture, usually directed at the Israelites, sometimes at individuals. I see the anger of God rarely and usually repented of.

We have the Spirit of the Lord in the life of Gidion, to direct him to victory.   When the children of the Lord cried out because of their bondage,  the Lord sent His angel to Gideon.

Gideon asked if the Lord be with us why are we in bondage, where are the signs and wonders our fathers told of?  Where is the God of Elijah?   I have the same question today.

The angel of the Lord called him a mighty man of valor,  go and deliver the people.  The Lord directed all that Gideon did.   Picking out men for the battle.   ( from 20,000 to 300)   To how to fight, stand still blow the trumpets and let the enemy kill each other.

The Spirit of the Lord came upon him and he defeated the enemy. Gideon told the people he freed, he would not rule over them the Lord would.

The time of Jephthah was much like today, the Lord gave Israel the land through a battle won, the losers do not accept the fact.  Jephthah was an outcast called upon to lead Israel in battle.  The Spirit of the Lord came upon him and the battle was won.   The ending was not happy tho read Judges 11.

In the life of Samson the Spirit of the Lord came upon him for strength and to bring vengeance to his enemies.

Many times the Spirit came upon Samson and many times did he do great exploits.   When the Spirit of the Lord left him he didn’t realize it.   He wasn’t a Godly man, just a man God used.   The Lord gave him as a child, to be set apart for the Lords service.

It was the Spirit of the Lord that came upon David when he was anointed King and the Spirit of the Lord that departed from King Saul. Both men were warriors for the Lord.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.😴

Here we have the Spirit of the Lord giving the anointing to preach, heal, deliver, give sight and freedom.

I believe that the Trinity is alive and well in the world today as it is in the Bible. The Lord, God and the Spirit have all distinct and separate natures who are also One in truth and purpose.

The Holy Spirit,  the Spirit of God, the Spirit of the Lord,  the Holy Ghost. All titles that we commonly use to describe the third person of the Trinity. If you have already read the Spirit of God and the Spirit of the Lord you have probably seen that we might need to take another look.

The Spirit of God gives us wisdom, understanding and knowledge,  the ability to understand dreams and prophesy.  While the Spirit of the Lord

gives war or battle attributes:  Strength, courage, direction.  anoints us to preach, heal the sick, blind and deliver the captives.

So what about the Holy Spirit?  Would you be surprised to realize  that “the Holy Spirit”  is only mentioned by name in the Old Testament three times.  We have evil spirits from God and evil spirits from the Lord also spirits of  the holy Gods but the Holy Spirit only Three times?

 Twice in Isaiah 63 concerning the Exodus, and  Davids prayer after being told of his sin with Bathsheba.

avid knew the Holy  Spirit,  he was anointed by the Lord, directed by the Lord but unlike King Saul or Samson,  he knew and loved the Lord.  He would have noticed the Spirit of the Lord being taken away.

he Holy Spirit was grieved when mentioned in the Old Testament.  

Who have we met and what have they done:

God (Elohim) creator and ruler of all.  God of the Trinity said it,  it was so and it was good.   God said Let us create man in our image.

The Spirit of God  (Ruach of Elohim),   moved upon the waters.   The Spirit of God gives us wisdom, understanding and knowledge.  Prophesy,  understanding of dreams and interpretation of same.

The Lord (Jehovah),  the Eternal One.   He was with God at creation.   Is always in agreement with God but has a different character or nature.  You begin to recognize the difference as you read their conversations with Noah, Abraham and Moses.

The Spirit of the Lord. (Ruach of Jehovah),   gave wisdom, strength, courage in battle as well as anointing to preach, heal and deliver.

Evil Spirits from God and the Lord both trouble King Saul after the Spirit of the Lord leaves him.

Finally we find the Holy Spirit    grieved by the behavior of the chosen ones.

I wonder how well they match up in the New Testament?
