This story starts with a phone call, several months ago.
Bette’s sister Eunice’s, two adult sons, (Carl and Andrew), wanted to know if we could stand some company this summer.
We in NC, were closer to the path of totality, then they were in Minnesota.
They thought they could kill two birds, with one stone. (A visit and the once in a lifetime experience).
Wonderful, come on down. Then their parents, Eunice and Roger would come with them. Now you’re talking…. We could not wait to see them
Two weeks ago, we heard they were going to watch the Eclipse in Nebraska, then come to NC. Still wonderful, can not wait.
Then I found out my sweet wife Bette, bought 8 pair solar glasses. She told me, the path of totality was only 150 miles south of us.
She wanted to see it.
We talked it over, I convinced her that a 6 to 12 hour drive in the car, (we would have to leave home at six am), for two minutes of viewing, was just silly.
I was sure she saw and agreed with me. Case settled.
8/21/17, woke at 7:30, saw my wifes face.
“Would you like to try to catch it?”
The sun shown, from her eyes. We left at 8:30, sure we were going to miss it.
We saw it, the diamond burst was at 2 o’clock though.
We didn’t get any pictures except this selfie as light was coming back.
The joy in her face was worth the twelve plus hours in the car, for two minutes of darkness.
This is SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!! I am Sooo encouraged how God smiles on us and receives our joy and thankfulness in our journey like worship and incense. We see and understand this as we love and bless our children, but How Beautiful to see it through spouses whom after all TRULY are the representation of Christ and The Church.
LITTLE THINGS MEAN SOOO MUCH!!!!
Blessings to a couple who give ALL for Christ and each other.

My heart is still filled with awe at seeing this great happening. He who created the heavens and the earth set this event in place in an intelligent and orderly manner. It was simply lovely, and Bill so sweet…
