of his fulness have all we received – The Fix-it Shop-Filling Station

A local Pastor,  Gary The-Sermonator Carrol, invited people to read the 21 chapters of John, one a day till Thanksgiving.

Great idea,  here is what jumped out at me today.

John 1:14,16
“And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.”

(Are we full?   Doesn’t look like it.  Plenty of room for Jesus.  Open your heart today, it is the acceptable time).

“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Luke 4:1
King James Version (KJV)
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,”

Have you really received the fulness of Christ, do we  even know what it is?   Read how Paul prayed for us, and compare how we pray.

That:
》 ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
》 unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
》For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
》and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;”

Please notice he prays that we will be filled with Christ, he prays for the Spiritual,  the Eternal not our earthly need or desires.

Even in the Old Testament we find people filled with the Spirit for specific reasons:

Deuteronomy 34:9
King James Version (KJV)
“And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.”

Micah 3:8
King James Version (KJV)
“But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.”

We all have need to be full.

Acts 6:5
“And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:”

Acts 6:8
“And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.”

Paul.

Romans 15:19
King James Version (KJV)
“Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.”

If we really want to fully preach the Gospel of Christ, we need to be full of Christ.   We can start by learning to pray for each other as Paul prayed.

For the Spiritual. Our needs will be met.
