II The True Church

The true Church is first:

◆   Built on the revelation knowledge that Jesus is the only       begotten Son of God, He is alive and well today and sits at the right hand of the Father.

◇   We are saved by His blood and grace

What is the purpose of the Church?

◆  As with the Prophets of old…teach and
encourage morality and heart-felt Worship of the Lord. To teach and lead people into Gods kingdom of grace.

Acts 11:26 King James Version (KJV)

◆  And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

What is the church To do?

Acts 2:47 King James Version (KJV)

◆  Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

I don’t think Praise is understood or practiced in a lot of Churches.  Years ago I led Praise and Worship quite often,  now playing a hymn here a doxology there and another hymn….just has folks making noise to the Lord.  There are too many words and verses to mean anything to anyone.

The Word tells us to meditate over 20 times….on the law, the statutes, the commands…. This isn’t to sit in a corner and go ommmm….but to think and study His Word and ways.  I believe that the best way to do this is to sing the Psalms,  glorify God with His Word.  Remind God of His promises and mercy.

When we learn to Praise God in Spirit and truth we would soon find ourselves in an attitude of true Worship.

John 4:23 King James Version (KJV)

◆   But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

2 Chronicles 16:9 King James Version (KJV)

◆  For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

The church should pray:

Acts 12:5 King James Version (KJV)

◆   Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Tell of Gods works:

Acts 14:27 King James Version (KJV)

◆  And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit:

Acts 16:4-6 King James Version (KJV)

◆  And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.  And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

Feed the flock:

Acts 20:28 King James Version (KJV)

◆  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

I know my life is far from the ideal. …Lord help me to understand and obey,  walk and work in You.

I go back to my current favorite verse:  Isaiah 41:20

◆  That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

The Church is the Lords Tabernacle. …the Gifts of the Spirit were given to build the Church,  Christs body on the earth.  Yet in most of the Churches today, the Gifts sit on the mantle,  maybe missed, admired,  considered but never activated.

How dare I invite people to meet a God who is all hat and no cattle as they would say in Texas?   A God who isn’t doing what He has promised. …Make me a vessel you can trust, relie on and use for Your glory,  please Lord. ..
